    I have a carrier from 1993, the year that the house was built. It is now 2024 and the HVAC system quit blowing. It is a dumb system from 1993 and doesn't even know if the motor is spinning. I took the covers off the HVAC system and on the blower motor housing it states that the motor needs 25 drops of 40 weight motor oil every two years if running continually or every 5 years if not every day. I haven't oiled the motor in 31 years and it runs every day. I pulled the blower housing out and surprisingly the blower motor spun easily. Over the years of changing the filters, the brackets that hold the filters would bend and not allow a flush mount on the filters so air would pass by. I would also wait almost a year to change the filter. When I pulled the housing out, the fan blades were caked with 31 years of dirt and dust. I pulled the motor out and soaked the fan in a bucket of soapy water overnight. The amount of dirt that came off that fan was amazing. The HVAC system now blows air like a champ. So, change your fiters and get in the HVAC system with a hammer and beat the filter retaining brackets back into place.

      Wow, hundreds of blowmolds! Your on a mission. I'm happy to hear that you will be restoring them. It is indeed difficult to get paint to adhere to blowmolds. I airbrush all my creations using Createx transparent air brush paint. I mix in 4030 balancing clear along with an adhesion promoter. It sounds crude but I use fine steel wool and lacquer thinner to prep the surface of the blow mold for good adhesion prior to airbrushing. (Always test on sample first because lacquer thinner could melt some blow molds). I have yet to find a method of solidifying brittle plastic. I am still researching. You can find links to all the paints and supplies that I use in my page description. I will be posting an airbrush tutorial shortly. Thanks for watching.

    Awesome video, I have restored a few blow molds. I am very interested with the therma plastic pellets. This is new to me. How well do they hold up? I am concerned that if they are stored anywhere the temperature gets hot , like the attic, if they would melts and sink? I do have a bunny that I used milk jugs and their handles to form the bunny paws. The pellets would look much better if I redid them. I look to learn from your experience.

      @johnyanik1414 Před 6 měsíci

      Hello I have been using the moldable plastic pellets for several years now. The repairs are durable and seem to be holding up good. I have had only 2 repairs yellow slightly but I do believe that I may have overheated the mix or introduced some contaminant. I live in Central Florida where attics can reach 130-150F. I have stored repaired blow molds in my attic without incidence. However I would hesitate to store them in an Arizona attic that could reach 180F. The manufacturer of the pellets recommends 170F water for preperation. Do not microwave a water/pellet mix as the pellets will overheat and discolor. Note that the finished product is very durable and therefore need not be installed too thick. The thicker the application the more opaque it becomes. Thanks for watching.😊

      Hello Diana I'm so glad that I can help. I have included links to all of my supplies in the site description. Please avoid using standard spray can paint because it will block the light from coming through and will look splotchy and shiny. Shiny paint will also degrade the originality of the piece making it look too new. Please use an airbrush for the very best results. I use transparent air brush paint applied with an airbrush. Here is the link: amzn.to/3vccjS4 I also add approximately 45% hardener to the mix to help with adhesion to the HDPE: amzn.to/41J5G5X Let the paint dry for 48 hours for best durability when using hardener. Here is a reasonable basic starter air brush kit to get you started: amzn.to/3vq2cZU I also use super fine steel wool with denatured alcohol to rough up the surface prior to painting. I will be releasing a blowmold air brush tutorial video shortly; it will contain methodology and tips. Thanks so much for watching and have a very happy new year.

    I am beyond thrilled to find your videos! It’s Christmas Day and I’ve been longing to repair my Santa Clause, mfg’rd in 1955! My parents bought it in 1956, the year I was born. I inherited Santa and collectively my family has enjoyed him every Christmas for 68 years! Watching your videos I realize he should be an easier repair because he has a cardboard backing where the lights are attached, like a light board. (He hangs on the porch wall). Easily removed so easy access for repairs! The base is Santa’s shoes and there’s a hole on the boot where the heel should be. The only other repair is to a piece of holly on one side of his hat. I’m super excited to order my supplies and get Santa repaired. I didn’t see in your video what kind of paint you used? I will be brushing on the paint. Originally Santa’s boots had snow painted on them that has almost all worn off. Happy I can hide any seams by replacing the snow! Can’t wait for your response! I’ll be watching more videos! Next is your snowman. Hopefully, you will share the painting process. Thank you soooo much! This made my Christmas!!!

      Hello The soldering gun should be at least 25 watts. I prefer a non tapered tip. Also use steel wool to clean the tip immediately after each use. If you don't clean it each time, the plastic will bake onto the tip and turn black and smoke. Be careful not to breathe any smoke as it is toxic. Use a whole steel wool pad to help isolate your fingers from the hot tip when cleaning it. Here is a link to the soldering gun that I would recommend. amzn.to/41rkN3S Thank you for watching.

    • @johnyanik1414

      Hello; The beads are Betionol moldable plastic pellets. Here is the link: amzn.to/3TgBz3y After molded and dried they will turn a semi translucent white that matches the blow mold. Keep in mind that the thicker the layer the less translucent it becomes. It is very durable when formed so it does not need to be very thick. Be sure to use a clean glass bowl. Good luck with the project. You should be able to find a motor on ebay. Take measurements of the existing motor including shaft dia and length and note voltage specifications on its nameplate to assure acquisition of correct replacement. Beware of cheap substitute motors as they will not last and are subject to noise due to inferior manufacturing. Take some pics of the bad motor positioning in relation to blower and motor bracket before you start. These make for great positioning references during installation of new motor. Thanks for watching.

I tapped the outside of the blower housing gently with my screwdriver which may have nothing to do with anything but after a few more seconds the unit started spinning normally its been running fine ever since but curious if the problem was the run capacitor upon replacement of it why the hmmm after replacement ? Maybe it took a moment for the new blower capacitor to get energize upon power up? Thoughts?

      @@pcexpress911 Does the blower spin freely without restriction? Did you check your voltage? Are the contacts on the motor run relay ok? Is the capacitor the correct type and value?

    I need to replace some light kits for a blow mold nativity scene i'm about to start on and all i'm finding on Amazon are indoor kits. Any tips on finding these? I did find some cool ones that had female connectors, but of course, indoor... I'm so happy i found your video, looking forward to this project!

      Hello; Here is a link for a decoration light repair kit. UL listed for indoor/outdoor use. Find a (frosted, warm white LED bulb) with the appropriate wattage for the size of your blow mold. Be sure its a frosted bulb. amzn.to/41k17yL

    🚨 help!🚨 I have a Casper family stacked foam blow mold by trend master and my toddler split the seam! How do I fix it?! I know super glue will eat foam!

    • @johnyanik1414
      @johnyanik1414 Před 9 měsíci

      I would use wood glue. It gets into the foam pores and it dries slowly giving you time to work the crack back together. Also use a bungee cord, string, a belt or a robe cinch to hold it together until dry.

I have had positive results and should have an airbrush technique video shortly. Thank you for watching.

    This was amazing. My mother and I would try repairing her holiday blow molds from the 90s with pieces of plastic jugs like yours and hot glue but it never lasted the season. She passed in 2018 and I just now moved some of the Halloween blow molds to my house this weekend. One little guy with a pumpkin head and ghost body had a hole at the base and that little problem is how I got to your video. Will try your repairs and if I do it right I know my mother would thank you for the knowledge.

    OMG!!!!!! WOW John, It cam out sooo good! I have been waiting months for this video. I couldn't wait to see you repairing this one. (This is "GregJurgs" here on my Main & Original Channel Commenting). I can't wait to start decorating my parents house now. Just a little other a month left till I put up all of the Christmas Lights & Lawn Characters. I Can't wait to make this years video of my Christmas Display now. I am uploading alot of old videos on this channel right now from when I was a kid. I have better views when I upload on this channel. Plus, I have way more subscribers here on this channel also. I can't wait to get to my Christmas Light videos for this channel now! I am re-edting all of my old video now for this channel. So glad you got this Snowman Repaired! I can't wait to see him repainted now along with the new lighting inside him! Sounds like a great project to me! :-) I also Re-Painted most of my Christmas Lawn Characters back in Nov of 2011 & they all held up great for over 8 years. Now some of them have to be repainted again. I used sanding paper & a brush to re-paint my Characters. Then I used a water proof spray glaze coating to protect the paint & to make it shiny looking. I did to a video of all that work I did back in 2011, I just have to re-edit it & re-upload it to this channel. Ok, Enough Of Me Talking Now lol! Great Video Once Again & Thank You For Uploading This! You Do Great Work With Fixing Up These Characters! -GregJurgs

      I@@johnyanik1414 I can’t seem to, no, but another person suggested a hair dryer and it worked! He’s able to stand now. The piece it glittered or flocked so the other suggestion of soaking it in hot water was not an option.
