RV 4 panel and switch operation
detailed description of our custom interior. Going over the functions to the new owners in Germany before we disconnected the battery and removed the wings. It sure was sad to see the panel lit up for the last time.

This polecat has been converted to electric on a limited budget. This set-up cost less than $300.00.
That is sooooo cool !
Would you by chance have the weight and balance for this falcon xp, trying to verify if someone has the wrong book to his for the single seat version.
Seriously badass! Yes send me schematics! I just bought rv4 mostly assembled. Ready for wiring and final assembly!! That’s if you are still around and have them after 6 years!
Is the company still around as of this date.
Do they still make parts for this airplane or is the manufacture shut down?
Great setup..! I finished my -4 in 2015. Isn't it great to design a panel the way you want it..!? The angled in panel is a great idea..! Wish I'd thought of that..!
I have been flying an RV-4 for 24 years now that my Dad, and I built. I wanted you to know that you have the nicest, cleanest, coolest panel, and avionics set-up that I have EVER seen.....really beautiful!!! What smoke system did you install, and where is the tank?
What engine do you have in here? I would love to hear more about mods to the -4, doesn’t look like you have many other videos about it, or respond to other questions here..
Outstanding Job on this RV! - I am seriously considering one of these but don't know if I will fit in one, 6'2" --225?
Thank you very informative and simple explanations.
Best RV-4 cockpit🤙🤙🤙
That is one crazy cool RV. So many groovy ideas.
Wonderful engineering solutions. Congratulations.
Who are you guys and how do I get this for my RV-3?
thanks for posting, beautiful aircraft! i'm keeping my eyes open for the single seat, Part 103 version, Falcon UL.
I built three XP in Sherman Denison Texas for a company called recreational Tech of Texas, I just wonder if anybody knows where these planes went they are a great aircraft to come from an egotistical Larry Newman what an asshole well that's beside the point, great Flyers but the wings needed a different covering, the ones I built had a recovery parachute so you could have an open casket ceremony, just kidding
Very impressive. You guys really figured out how to make a great RV-4 setup. Is bringing the flaps all the way up on a "go around" normal for the RV-4? That's the only potential issue I saw. Usually you don't want to go full up on the flaps when going around. Maybe the RV-4 is different.
Awesome little plane!!! Can you mount the power and mixture levers on the opposite side, essentially flipping it with the switches?
Wow.
Outstanding job Tommy ! I really like the concave panel. No doubt it helps to keep the screen shaded a bit.
This video was made for the guy who bought the plane to explain how everything works. It was shipped to Germany. I’m still in contact with him and he tells me the plane is an absolute joy to fly. We still regret letting her go.
Any info on the construction of the panel? Looks like it would help me fit in one (Tall guy.. knees hit panel in most RV-4s)
How tall, if you don’t mind me asking. I’d like to purchase a used RV someday, and it seems like the 4’s are cheaper than the 6’s, 7’s, 8’s, ect., but I’ve also read that the cockpit is smaller. I’m 6’3” myself.
Beautiful! Nicely done, sir. I love The logic and foresight you engineered into the design and of the the cockpit. The layout seems very ergonomic. Are you a builder?
I know I'm kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Cristian Jadiel flixportal =)
@Andres King thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) I really appreciate it!!
@Cristian Jadiel no problem =)
This is a beautiful job and great video. Are you an A&P? Are you in the United States? What does a build like this typically cost, without the engine and avionics?
Had an XP years ago and loved it. In mine, the rotax engine was pop riveted onto the frame. Have they changed that?
Great recessed panel! Standard panel is too close to the pilot. Otherwise for a simple airplane, it is overly complicated and unnecessary with all the electrical accessories. KISS method applies to the RV-4.
jcheck6 yes it’s overly complicated but that’s what we wanted.
Not a comment but a question . . . Are there any plans/instructions/schematics available for the panel and for the switch operation for N124TT ?. I still have a RV4 in the box. Ron caapn767@rcn.com
RON WRIGHT no plans. All custom built
Why would you want flaps retracted all at once ? Terrible idea
Keith Manvell after landing you raise flaps. Especially fo go around. What’s so terrible about that?
acam37 But you should not raise all flaps at once for safety reasons.
Thank God for your safe landing!!!!! The plane seemed to fly beautifully from start to finish!!!!!
Hi Jerry Prado, if you have any flying time at all, you can fly one of these, they are so easy to fly and they do not stall, just watch your speed, they are petty fast,
I had one of those and it was one of the best flying airplanes I have tried and I have tried a lot.
Really? I flew one, and it was weird.. it would get “stuck” in a slip and you would have to yaw it out, but stop the yaw before it got “stuck” over the other way. The controls weren’t sticking, it was like the fuselage was too long and the slip would hit the side of the canopy and overcome the rudders. Very weird. I hear the single place one flew much better..
Really? A wheelie in a short-coupled plane? What a show-off. Still, well done on both the construction and piloting.
My friend and I just bought a flying1982 XP from a pilot that lost his medical. Can you refer us to an instructor in the DFW area? We have no Canard time. JP
does this fall in FAR 103?
We are at the Angelina Co. airport or the private airstrip on FM 58 & 1818 just about every weekend.
WOW. AWESOME FLIGHT. DO YOU DO PRIVATE FLIGHTS IN LUFKIN???
Loved the video, Loved Reklaw... 11 more months till next year...
Looks like most everyone was gone, hope you was able to see it there Saturday. Estimated to be over 800 aircraft. 500 registered. Great time, can't wait till next year.
I buy the model 125 euro shipping included here in italy! i have disponibile and can use a 14,8Volt 4000 mha 20C or 2x2200 14,8Volt in parallel... For the problem of wing dismounting for battery changing i wondering of make the battery alloy under del pilot cover glass, OVER the wing did you think it's possible ? or anithing else of more easly battery change ? What kind of servos did you use ?
what kind of motor and battery
Great little plane, flies great and looks superb! Good job Arlie! You are a better pilot than you credit yourself for. Texas rc planes dot com has some super planes, plus the owner is dedicated to customer service! He left his family on christmas eve to come and open up his shop to sell my wife a Yak 54 for my christmas present! It turned out beautiful! Went together easy in about 7 hours and flies great!
