Garage clean up and a little surprise

Slowly cleaning up the garage and a new little surprise. I think after this I need to step up my videos.
Garage update 2
zhlédnutí 8Před 3 lety
April 2021 and we are back under a 6 week lock down. No travel so no trips in the truck other than to work or the grocery store. Since we are ordered to stay home unless work I’ve started back in the garage. Hope everyone has fun. Cheers! Ford F-150 3.3 litre.

Is a full size pick up the way to go? My first video, no editing, no scripting. I'll try harder as I get use to talking with out saying um, lol.
hi - have a question - is the canister purge valve located on (48 sec)top of the engine? i got eng light p0440 code and not sure - how to locate it. i know - a weird question- but maybe you know
Sorry, don’t have the truck anymore. So can’t look. Cheers
@@thecraighouse9246 thanks - for your response
Another update on this power train would be nice. Thanks!
Unfortunately I can’t. Almost a year ago Someone made me an offer I could say no to. It had 27,000 km on it and the only real issue what the vacuum leak on the 4WD. This issue has been present in all my F150. I did post a video about selling it, what I have in place of and the wife’s new vehicle. Again I have been almost non existing in shooting any reviews. Nothing planned till closer to summer. A mate just bought a fantastic little toy and I want footage. Cheers
I suppose the 2wd and 4wd have different screen options. I just purchased a used 2019 3.3l ecoboost and it has a much smaller display screen for the radio/console display. So far, it's great. I'll be dragging a boy scout trailer this weekend (3500 lbs) and see how that feels. Nice review!
Maybe it was a fleet model with out sync3. I do know if you don’t get the tow package you get an old school green crt looking display in the dash.
Is your truck the xl model? I think it has to do with the trim level
Do you know the mpgs? Thank you.
My life average was 16L/100km. This was 3/4 city driving. Doing just highway you’re looking at 10L/100km at 100kph. Not sure what this converts to in imperial but Google can tell you.
I love mine, it has 3.3 Liter. I just ordered a Leer topper, their at 20 weeks out. I expect it at September sometime. I sound excited like a little kid in the video. czcams.com/video/AtcmxY86Tus/video.html
Just traded in my 18 with 70k on it. The 3.3 is a great engine and trouble free for the 70k. The problem is 80 mph which is the speed limit here in Utah worked it to death. My new 2022 with the 2.7 EcoBoost runs 80 with zero effort in 10th gear. Also gets a lot better gas mileage, 26 mpg in eco mode. If I ran my 3.3 at 80 it would struggle to get 20mpg. Dealer gave me a LIFETIME WARRANTY can you believe that! Spend a little more and get the 2.7, you wont be sorry!
I actually have that same display on my 2019 XL regular cab 3.3L and mine didn’t come with any of the tow stuff on the dash.
Do you have the green screen in between? Do you have back up assist pro? The green is what comes with a lower end truck otherwise I think it’s called a productivity display.
@@thecraighouse9246 no mine has the productivity screen and no tow stuff, but I am adding a brake controller to it on my own.
How much is your gas mileage now? Any issues?
I’m at 16,600km and I’m averaging 14.5 l/100km. That is at 90% town, doing 5 minute drives.
I got mine 2019 xlt crewcab 2 years now, 66000 kms now in Canada. Never towing anything yet. Use as a daily commute in the city, and hunting truck during the fall. Everage gas mileage is 11.5 L/ 100 kms I do oil change every 8000kms. Truck has not a single issue except the front door limiter has little noise which replaced under warranty.
Nobody gets a5.0 for gas mileage...5.0 is for reliability and power... the 3.3,2.7,3.5 are throwaway engines
How is the 3.3 a throwaway engine? What are you basing that on?
What are you even saying? Could you elaborate
@@preshj0hnson probably watched too many scotty kilmer videos or something. I drove a 5.0, and yes it's powerful, but doesn't make sense to group the 3.3 with the ecoboost models when it's not one.
@@KF1 What’s your opinion on the 3.3? I’m lookin at a 19 XLT an it has the 3.3 I don’t really see to much about it. Truck has 30k on the odometer & they want $37k. Fully loaded
@@preshj0hnson From everything I researched it's a fully competent engine. Considered buying one but got a Silverado with the 4.8L instead. The Ford 6 speed paired to the 3.3L has less sensor issues than their 10 speed, which would be the real reason to choose it over the 5.0L That's about all I know. As you mentioned there's very little info available. Maybe no news is good news? For $37k near new and fully loaded, I would bring it to a trusted mechanic for a thorough inspection. Cost a bit of money, but my mechanic inspected at a few trucks for me, and I felt it was worth it. My particular Silverado 4.8L was what he recommended after fine-combing them all. It's been great. My buddy was stuck and it pulled a 35 foot trailer out of the mud when his old F250 was having 4x4 issues.
What P-car do you have? I have a cayman and really enjoy it.
How did you find the 3.3 in a XLT? I only find XL’s. Did you custom order?
It is tough to find a 3.3 up here. When dealers get them in they sell first but they don’t get as many as other engines. Ford pushes the 2.7 hard. XLT is pretty much the lowest trim you’ll find here. So no I did not custom order. Just need to be patient.
Finally a video with the tailgate step deployed and their tonneau cover inside. I’ve get the bak revolver x2 which by your video I think it should fit. Thanks!
I looked up the X2, you should be good. The tent over the tonneau is barely visible. Doesn’t hinder the fit and gives me a shelf inside. Cheers
Whats up bro thanks for the video. No one talks about the 3.3L. I have a regular cab 2wd with the 3.3L for my small business. I wish I had gotten it at 4wd. Well, time for another truck and I will be looking at another Ford. I love Turbos, but I feel its more parts that can go wrong with a work truck. I was looking at a 5.0. But we do not tow really ever. My current 3.3L had about 65k miles on it and only have had tires and oil changes. I looking at getting the Super Cab with 4wd 6.5' or 8' bed. Whats you mpg with t he 4wd? Thanks again bro very helpful.
I’m thinking of trading my 2017 Mustang GT for a 2019 f150 XLT with the 3.3V6. I love my mustang and it is so much fun. But I need more room for my growing family plus it would be nice to haul/tow every now and then which you absolutely cannot do with the mustang. I’m driving out 70 miles to go see the truck at the Ford dealership- we shall see.
Let us know how it goes. I, too, and close to buying a 3.3L. Interested in hearing your impressions if you get one.
If you’re going to do any towing make sure you get the factory tow package. It will be prewied for the 7 pin and give you the better instrument cluster screen. Otherwise the base looks like an 80’s green crt.
What’s the power like. For passing and stuff. Scared to get one because of lack of power.
It’s nothing like the 5.0L. 0-60mph with a tank is probably around 8-9 seconds, being close to the 9. Remember it’s an automatic pick up truck. If I want something sportier then I take a different vehicle. Most speed limits are are 50kph, so there is no use for something faster. It hauls stuff, back seats are big enough to keep the children apart and tows a small trailer perfectly. I know that’s not what you want to hear.😀
I had a 18' 2.7l eco Traded it in for a 19' 3.3 Wish I wouldn't have . I did it for the towing capacity
Did you mean the 3.5? The 2.7 has always had a higher tow rating than the 3.3L. That said the 3.3 is rated to 7000lbs, ish. But 3500 is where it’s happy for everyday. Cheers
I’m thinking about picking up a 2020 3.3. What are your thoughts?
First is, how much are you really going to tow? I know the 3.3 is rated at something like 7800lbs but you wouldn’t want to do that every day. If your under 5000lbs then yes. If you don’t tow at all then yes. Remember it’s an automatic pick up truck not a sports car so who cares how quick it is or how it handles.
Hey keep on posting about the 3.3L. I’m considering one for the next family hauler out here in Alberta. I’ll probably spec it with a crew, 2wd and a locker. But I’m interested in this combo and reliability. Not a whole lot of info out there.
I bought a "new" 2018 in march of 2019 with the 3.3L. Just over 27,000 problem free kilometres, and lovin it. I selected this engine for the simplicity, proven 6 speed transmission and turbo free. Hope to keep it for years.
Thanks, I needed to see this video...💯💯💯
No problem. If you want to see something specific to help make your decision, let me know.
I have the 2020 xlt 3.3.. I tow 4500lbs a couple times a week.. does good...no regreats... I had a 2018 xlt with the 5.0... yes it was a beast... but the 3.3 does fine. No regreats
Was curious how well it would pull my 26' TT no slides
@@63Imp283 pulled my 34foot camper with 2 slides from Ohio to Wilmington North Carolina just fine. No complaints.. I have the 3.3 with the 373 rear end
Question. I have this EXACT same truck and I wanted to put a 3 inch lift and a little larger tire of a tire size. Would that be okay?
You lost me when Journey started..... Nice truck
Should have just got a more loaded midsized truck
Do you do your own automotive work? If so how easy do you find it is to work on common items? (air filter, spark plugs, oil changes, brakes etc.)
K G I try to. Somethings I can’t do. If it would take me more than a day or two. I take it somewhere, can’t have daily drivers down for too long, wife wouldnt be to happy. As for this truck, I haven’t had to do anything yet. Everything you mention is easily accessible.
@@thecraighouse9246 Yeah that makes sense, I actually ended up buying the 2020 3.3L and it seems easy to work on. Question though, does your engine make the same noise as mine that I posted in this video? It's like a rapid "typewriter" type ticking coming from what seems like the upper drier side bench. Thanks man! www.reddit.com/r/Ford/comments/hbkpx6/anyone_elses_truck_making_that_ticking_sound_2020/
Just checked mine. It ticked for about 5 seconds then stopped and settled down. How cold was it when you took the video? Check your oil level first.
@@thecraighouse9246 It was only around 20 Celsius here, and oil levels are good as well. Apparently the Ford Techs said it's normal, and that it's the high pressure fuel pump making the sound, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't skeptical.
Sorry everyone, not much has happened. Been at home for the last 2 months under quarantine lock down.
Can I ask you why you didn't get the EcoBoost?
Darrick Lee other than our road trip vacations my normal driving is all town. I have another Ford with a 2.0t ecoboost motor and it is also driven 100% town and its mileage is terrible. The 2 vehicles get the same mileage. Ecoboost motors are good with fuel in theory but not in practice. When you drive all stop/go your always on boost. Fords answer to keep the head from blowing is to add more fuel. Cheers
3.3 best fuel economy, quiet ride and smooth performance. My truck is XL 150 Regular cab 2019. Basic truck even has roll up windows ! 2wd. Best truck I ever owned, all Ford's last 45 years!
I just purchased 2018 with 3.3l also , wasn’t sure if I should have gone with eco boost but no regrets it’s a nice truck
Where in Canada ?
In regards to heating you mentioned that your v6 doesn't get as hot as your v8. Have you noticed if it also takes longer to get to max heat?
My mic was rubbing on my coat, sorry. I tried a second take but had no audio??? Wasn’t meant to be tonight. Cheers everyone
I've been hoping to find a good demo of the 3.3L hauling a payload of about 1200lbs. I'm wondering if the cost savings is worth it.
When we go camping I’m pulling about 2500lbs and at least 500lbs in the bed. I averaged around 12.7L/100km for 4000km. The 5.0 V8 I had with 3.31 rear end did the same. Only unloaded will you see the 3.3L beat the others in mileage. If it’s only a couple of times a year, go for it. If it’s every day, look at the V8. Cheers
Happy new year! It's been awhile since you've made a visit about your f150.
UncleSarkis I know, things have been crazy, work, family. With winter it’s dark at 4pm here, not very good for filming. Anything particulate you would like to see? I was going to try to find some time this weekend. Cheers.
@@thecraighouse9246 that's a great question. Ideas are almost as hard as actually making the videos 😂. What you have learned about the truck with preferences, what would have made it better, what you can't live without now with having. Maintenance issues or maintenance related things you have learned about it. Are there technologically advanced systems making it impossible to work on when there are issues. Fit and finish issues? Can you see any obvious corner cutting? The one I was looking at just went up 2k dollars so I'm going to wait it out, but in terms of fuel economy and reliability I think 3.3 is the one for me. It's a shame they're not as common. Most people by their 5.0s for their daily commute and never tow anything anyway.
I wish they had this thing in a 3.55.
Because u can get the 3.3 F150s for dirt cheap, Im thinking about slapping a BorgWarner turbo on it the same company ford uses on their ecoboost engines.. since it makes nearly 300hp stock I think a borgwarner turbo could give it a massive torque and HP boost down low call it my own 3.3 v6 boost lol
Did you do it? Haha I’m looking for more power out of mine
Did you do it?!
Becides the duratec water pump fiasco, they are great engines. My mom has an edge with a duratec motor and it's like butter and has lots of power.
From my understanding they have corrected that issue for the 3.3.
Only transverse cylcone motors have internal water pumps. If you rock RWD in a mustang or F150, you are good to go.
To my understanding, it doesn't concern the F150 since the water pump on our engines isn't internal like the Edge and Explorer.
I love my F150 with 3.3, smooth as silk and quiet.
I wanna buy f150 (2019-2020) for long time and which engine is more reliable 3.3 natural aspirated or 2.7 ecoboost. for everyday driving?
@@alexk163 I would recommend the 3.3 it's not a turbo and is very reliable, its also port and direct injection so no worry about carbon build up. 2.7 is more powerful but the 3.3 is tried and true.
@@TommyG11814 THANKS :*
Actually the 2.7 has been around longer and is tried and true. But there’s certainly nothing wrong with the 3.3. The up side is less overall cost to own.
How is the F150 doing. My husband and I are thinking about purchasing one with the 3.3 in it. How is the reliability and mileage?
AgentPepsi1 I am going in for my first service on the 27. I am at 9000km and my live average is 13.2L/100km. I can get 9L/100km on the highway if I stay below 105kph. The 3.3 has been good. It doesn't handle like a car and it's not the fastest, it's a truck. And apple CarPlay has been great. Only thing I would like are more tie down points in the bed. I need to order the bed links to see if they will do. One recall at the moment for a seat. We'll see what they find out at service. Cheers
@@thecraighouse9246 Thank you. I recalculated these for miles / gallons and the mileage is very good... better than what we get now. We live in very rural Texas, and really want something that is reliable, comfortable, and relatively fuel efficient. Yet, we also need a truck. Not so much to tow anything, but to haul normal household things around (lawn mower, lumber from Home Depot, etc). Merry Christmas :)
I got a 2018 black xlt 4x4 with 302 A pckg s-cab with 3.3 & 6 speed trans, I love it I’m averaging 24 mpg highway & 19 city I couldn’t ask for a better truck, I get more torque & hp than my 2005 with the 5.4 & my 2001 with the 5.4 as well the 05 got around 13 mpg & my 01 got around 11 both were crew cabs & 4x4....I’ve only owned v8s before this truck & I can honestly say I can’t tell that I’m Driving a v6 the truck drives good, sounds good & gets great MPG plus if I need to tow 7000 lbs I can...definitely would recommend this engine!
I bought one 9/23/19 and I totally love it. XLT 3.3 and 3.55 axle ratio.
@K Y On my window sticker under options it says 3.55 ratio regular axle. I was hoping it's limited slip since it has the full towing package like my old truck was. The guys at work says they are all limited slip today but mine doesn't say that, I think it's open axle.
@K Y czcams.com/video/qDwcWqLWiig/video.html
I’m considering a brand new ‘19, same exact configuration , XLT, 3.3l, super crew, for $26,499 right now....seems like an incredible deal
@@ecureed I absolutely love mine after 3 months now. The 3.3 engine is fantastic, the 6-speed auto is flawless and they ride and drive like a dream. Just great setups. I hope you get it and enjoy it.
Gator Unleashed awesome to hear. More and more I think about it the 3.3 just makes sense for me.
They still use pounds and not metrics when talking about towing capacity up in Canada?
chuckwalla 2 in the automotive world we get both but metric is not always first. Looking at a brochure now, length is metric first but towing shows imperial first. And power is always imperial.
Would love to see some performance videos. And maybe a verbal comparison to the 5.0 you used to have as you encounter different conditions throughout the video. Not that you'd drag race a 3.3, but a 0-60 would be cool. And maybe a start-up of what the exhaust sounds like. Thanks in advance.
Adrian Baker coming soon. Finally got out to shoot some acceleration runs, but the it started to rain. Soon.
Hey everyone. I’m not a camera man, an editor or a talk show host, my videos are what they are. More for me to keep records and if someone likes it, great. Cheers everyone.
How well does it handle towing power wise? Does the tow haul mode work well or do you just manually take it out of overdrive? Im thinking of the 3.3l for my 3000 lb boat.
Ma Ha I leave it in tow/haul mode. That turns off the auto shutoff. For 3000# it tows great. In hills you feel the weight, but not the trailer. the truck will shift and rev away but that’s where it makes it HP. I’m on a 1000km drive this weekend right now, not towing. I will be posting about that soon. Cheers
So unhooked not pulling a trailer what's the difference in mileage from this truck compared to your old 5.0 on the highway? If you've had enough time or trips to find out. Thanks
Keanan Fischer i will be doing about 1000km this weekend. I’ll let you know.

Came across your channel while researching f150 engines. Do I really need the V8 (can't believe i said that out loud)? Of course I want the get up and go, but the 3.3 might be more affordable. I'd be more highway, some city, zero towing. Pleasantly surprised to hear you drove through NB (Hilly, HAHAHA).
VINKAT01 compared to southern Ontario, NB is hilly. If you’re doing 90% highway the 5.0 and the 3.3 will be close in mpg. We’ll see how the mileage is come winter. The 5.0 were 25-30L/100km, it’s a big block to warm up, but that’s 100% city. Do I want the V8, of course, do I need it, not really. How fast can I go sitting at a red light? Cheers
@@thecraighouse9246 Right on. I've subbed so will keep an eye out for more vids.
I had a 2015 F150 with a 3.5 naturally aspirated v6 absolutely love the truck got good gas mileage and had plenty of power for what I needed but I recently traded it in for 2019 with the 3.5 EcoBoost because my Towing needs have changed so far I'm in love with the ecoboost puts a smile on my face every time I drive it the power is crazy.
I have 3.5 tt also....got the 5star 93 performance tune.....wow....absolute rocket ship.
Playing around with iMovie on this one. Anyone have suggestions for a window mount for iPhones to shoot video? My cheap one shakes.
For the previous models what made you choose the 5.0 over the natural aspired 3.5 v6. ? n/A is always the most reliable ..good choices.
Guillermo Ortiz my 2 previous were 5.0 because that was what was on the lot when I bought. The 13 in Canada you couldn’t get the 3.5 in a SCrew with 4x4, not till 15 when it went aluminum. For the 16, a friend owns a dealership and that one someone ordered it but cancelled it after delivery.
I just hit 10000km one year with my 3.3l supercab I have no complaints.
That's good to hear.
