Researching the lost helmet of paratrooper Marvin D. Moles - Behind the German lines in France
PFC Marvin D. Moles made a nighttime parachute jump into France on August 15th 1944 as a member of the 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment during Operation Dragoon, the invasion of southern France. In 1999, his camouflaged and rigger modified paratrooper helmet with his named carved on the front was found hanging on the wall of a restaurant in southern France. This video explains how it was possible to track Marvin Moles down 60 years later and describes how he came back to France to see his helmet and visit the battlefields he had fought on in 2004.
The video also details the history of the rigger modified chinstraps and of the spray painted camouflage that are found on paratrooper helmets of the 517th PIR.
Marvin Moles' story is fully documented in the book "Autopsy of a Battle, the Liberation of the French Riviera", Schiffer, 2014.
For research about First Airbone Task Force soldiers and laundry numbers, I can be contacted as I have made partial rosters of the unit.

A brief introduction to the pitfalls of trying to understand where a gunshot was fired from based on the intracorporal trajectory in the victims body. The helmet of Kurt Günther and other World War II examples are used to illustrate these ballistics principles. The biggest mistake any forensic practitioner can do is to overinterpret the data availlable to him. A CrocodileTear productions video....

It must be comforting for the families of the fallen soldiers to have a final resting place for their remains. Missing in Action is a horrible term leaving sometimes years of hope for their families and final closure is important in the sense that having the remains in a grave to visit and pay respects. I would like to think that those who remains are unidentified would in life would not have minded that their remains are buried with the men they fought alongside no matter how sad it is not to be able to give them and their families some kind of recognition for the sacrifice they made. Respect to Russia for having these young people make sure the past is brought to the present and honoured.
What was done for the Jews cadavers after the war is now been done to the cadavers of the Jews criminal executioners.
WHAT a bunch of lies and propaganda. Shame on you!
Except for russians....they rape....americans did raped in vietnam too.
My grandfather fought in ww2 told me at the point of death German and American soldiers alike cried out for their mothers 😢
"Postfacharbeiter" means that Kurt Günther probably knew quite a bit about communications related things which might explain how he ended up in the airforce as a "Nachrichten" person, meaning a person involved in messaging..
Will more diggers be in the battlegrounds of Ukraine in 80 years, finding the bones of the dead there? War is senseless death, fought by those that have no choice, lead by those that have no principles, ordered by those that have no souls, that only want GLORY for themselves.
And now you can look, US murder they kill human in Suria,in iraq,in Afganistan,in Palestine, US is teroris.
Besides the prevention of VD I believe the US army used them the cover the muzzle of their weapons to keep water out and on occasion blouse their trousers .

Very moving, good on those young people for such dedication
These videos are very well researched and presented in an understandable way.
Damn he was ready to party
The roots growing inside the skulls are really creepy
What a great guy and awesome story!
Awesome job. So interesting. And so important. I hope these young soldiers and their families are at peace. Thank you for doing this.
This video is a vivid illustration of the horrors of War. At least these young people died fighting for their respective countries. My late father was in four major WW2 battles in the Pacific Theater, including Okinawa. At the Battle of Leyte he was wounded by shrapnel. He used to repeat over and over that War is Hell.
Thanks for your efforts. Very much appreciated ! 🤝🏻👍🏻
İnsanoğlu sonunu gör işte
.
In the end our long lives lives will not matter when we are dead, these young guys atleast was part of a historical event that will be spoken about forever. So in a way they live forever
Not stolen. It was war.
You think German soldiers in tome of war were given permission to loot?
Is 15948 a date 15 Septembeer 1948 ??? So a post-war item??? Also... I tend to agree with the poster who suggested that the "O" is actually a heart ... so "E" is the beloved... and the first letter is "Who Knows What" as it is so stylized... but m...a...y...beeee it is an "I"....
15948 Donald Curtis Drive, Woodrige, Virginia USA is an address in the US????
Could it be a tag for an animal or livestock???
Was this in Serbia?
I hate to say this but the truth is the truth i realize that after these soldiers are found they are brought back for a full military burial. But im willing to bet if we were to know what they really want, it wouldnt involve anything to do with the military. Military just like anything is a 2 way road i unstand fighting someone who olis trying to invade and destroy your country but to fight wars for profit like the united states been doing for a long long time. If we the people were 100 % aware of the full truth of everything our government is responsible with, i guarantee even the most law abiding citizens would go into a full blown rapid rage killing spree! Thats how bad the truth is unfortunately. And im sure its like this for most countries also. There is 1 way we wnd this is we look at our niebors requardless of beliefs and show love and compassion and say no to those who love hatred war and death this world would become something so amazing that most people can not fathom what would happen. Hint-oneness acention into a high being into high vibration leaving those who do not want change in the low vibration world in wich they can have forever.
May these souls be in a better place now and may their remains rest in peace..salute
Great work I wish you luck and success in your research.
Rest in Peace all those patriots that hadn´t Justice times.
I was in the 1st and then the 4th Armored Division in the early 1970s.
My 8th Great Grandfather was born in Saxony, in Ostfriesland. He moved to Amsterdam for employment where he married my 8th Great Grandmother, a Dutch woman. She died giving birth to my 7th Great Grandfather. Later my two Grandfathers and a step Grandmother moved to New Amsterdam, which is now called Manhattan, New York. I love Germany. It is my ancestral homeland. The great loss of life in Germany in WW2 breaks my heart.
Guerra só traz essas consequências até quando os homens poderosos vão se atentar para essa situação não as guerras sim a paz.

You really add to the human dimension to WW2 and the suffering particularly for those left behind.
Terrific follow up to the story of the 65th.
Thanks for your video. Your research is excellent. It was truly enjoyable and I’m looking forward to watching all the rest of the work you’ve done.
Very sad
Absolutely incredible research and incredible story. Nice work!!!
Thank you. It is slightly irritating that videos about anything German are always more succesfull then stories about Allies.
the last person to look in that mirror was the soldier . those weeds inside the skulls is horrid to see.
These fallen soldiers bones only know to God. R.I.P. 😢
It is his helmet...
Thank you for the research concerning this German soldier. I am retired US Army and appreciate people caring enough to teach others about the consequences of war. Thank you for your time and great effort for this video.
Have you watched one of my digging videos, such as "The Stalingrad digging camp"?
Very interesting and sad. Thank you for your work. Are you Russian?
I am Canadian and French.
Jumper Moles' authentic story stands with those of other WW11 airborne soldiers about whom I have learned...it is good of you to bring it to light for us...Moles, you good man, I am glad you lived to recap your exploits!
GOD BLESS THEIR SOULS
I have always found it fantastically ironic…that these genetically “superior” Über Mench started…and then lost a World War. TWICE! And now here comes the FAR RIGHT in Germany and Austria again? Are we going to need to put these “superior” people back in their graves… yet again?
Gran labor de los jóvenes apena que algunos de ellos hallan muerto en una nueva guerra no deseada por nadie solo por la paranoia del líder
