Thank you for sharing this. I’m in the process of going in the USMC and I just must ask with this. Are you referring to obviously post Boot Camp and active duty and would reserve be a better option in the case of just avoiding that and just having a healthy civilian life balance with that or our reserved Marines not really spared this kind of deal?

I got out!!! I serve from 2008 to 2012. Yes people in the core are always on a power triping, think they God or something. The leader ship is shit. On top of that all the regulations, rules, and the leader ship being shit. I and I know when ever you go to there is always a boss or something but you have more freedom and iptions. Rigth now Im my onw boss and dont need to listen too nobody or follow that mutch orders, regulations or laws, just the tipical laws lol😅😅. And I'm guessing the core havent change mutch huh lol😅😅😅

I’ve made it 7 minutes into this video while washing the dishes and have to switch to something else because of the anger this is brewing. Everything this dude is saying is straight up truth. The marine corps is a stupid steaming pile of crap. The part about “being out in the field, but not actually training, just sitting around doing nothing, but putting a check mark in box that says ‘this dude is being trained as America’s spearpoint’” could not possibly be more accurate. The amount of sitting around doing nothing designated as “training time” has got to be like 1/3rd of the 4 years you spend on active duty marine corps infantry

Id like some advice I'm a 17 year old, Marines called me down to the recruitment center and went and took some tests, Also working out with them to prepare for basics I've always wanted to join the military and mostly the marines, few of my older friends that were and are in the marines share similar stories, From someone who has severed What is the best advice to give, and should I look into different branches or stick with the marines.

You make very little money compared to civilian jobs of like hours. You spend a lot of time away from your family. Many 3 weeks to 1-year deployments. If you opt for 3 years, they will spend your family, but it likely will be unexciting for the family. There will be many other single Marines vying for your wife's attention while you go to the field. Divorce rate is much higher than the other armed forces. Many Marine families live below the poverty line. There is very little that is transferable to civilian jobs. GI Bill has been stripped with some college money but nothing to live on. The Corps is much laxer and easier today. Back in the Vietnam Era, you actually made a decent paycheck. You could make $300- per course a month just from the GI Bill. That's in the '70's. That would be about 1 grand today.

I’ve been on Zoloft for about a year. If they can pull pharmacy records I may be fucked for OCS and need to get some waivers. I interviewed with a Gunnery Sergeant who clued me in on the process at the Office, but I didn’t bring up Zoloft meds. Now I wonder if I should take preemptive action and let her know about it so I can see about getting a waiver

I was sent to Camp Pendleton from Hawaii to base special services motor transport to wait for my separation from the Marine Corps in 1966. We were part of headquarters company, base special services, regimental headquarters. 1st Marine division at 13 area above the base theater. Our barracks were next to the base special services. There were only about 6 of us in the barracks and our 6:40 dispatch office was there also. There were 2 E-5 sergeant. One was a dispatcher and the other was a driver. We have a crown Royal 45 passenger bus in which we would take active duty and dependents on special trips like LA Dodger baseball games, knotts berry farm and Disneyland. We were not issued weapons and there were no formations or inspections.our company commander had his office in the special services building. One night we had a company party. It was a lot of fun. But our first sergeant made his wife dance with me and follow me to make sure I did not get into trouble because of my reputation from my previous duty station. I used to get drunk a lot and I had gotten busted from a corporal E-4 to a PFC. a little later I got into a chug a lug drinking contest with the 2 sergeants drinking southern comfort. Needless to say but I got so smashed I was out for a day and a half. Nothin happened to me. I wasn’t not reported for not reporting to work. but I was miserable for two days afterward. That was my best duty station.

People join the infantry thinking it’s a job so they treat it like one, that’s why they struggle. When you join the infantry it’s a lifestyle, a brotherhood not a job.

What is liberty?

All these damn war stories available to read or watch videos about and they still think they want war? I’ve never seen war firsthand and I don’t want to but if it has to be done then don’t count me out but I’d rather do everything I can to give us a tactical and strategic advantage before sending infantry straight into a meat grinder like they’re expendable or some shit. I’d rather delete a grid square with CAS or Arty and cockblock a grunt before letting the enemy within 300m of my element. It really says something about your character if you’re willing to go fight a war that doesn’t even exist yet. GWOT veterans saw terrorists attack our home soil, Vietnam vets reacted to the Gulf of Tonkin incident or were drafted, WW2 veterans wanted vengeance for Pearl Harbor or were drafted. What fight are the guys in the squad bay so eager to get into? Almost every conflict is happening by proxy so the U.S. can’t really send a conventional force to fight all these small militias, insurgencies, rebel groups, etc. If you wanted to be constantly deployed then you should’ve tried out for a special operations unit who goes out to help other countries or defenders fight their own battles and you would’ve probably been in the shit more often than being a grumpy grunt in a peacetime military focused on force readiness. Let’s give deterrence every possible chance to succeed before pressing the war button and scrambling all these young men to an atrocity where attrition will be the name of the game. Do you wanna see your friends or your leadership die just because you wanted some “action” and didn’t wanna sit in a squad bay doing menial tasks?

Can you tell us specific foods they serve at boot camp? I’m still trying to lose a few pounds before and as a woman who’s not 18, I can’t just eat whatever I want 🤷🏻‍♀️😆
