Guys, what's the big deal ? Ford has been making big gas engines for decades, lots of torque? In 1980 I bought a 79 F-350 with a swapped out 460 in it, that's 7.5 for you metric guys , 4 speed, 4x4. It would pull anything I hooked on to , anywhere I wanted to go, would pass anything but a gas station. My last 460 was in 1986, switched to Cummings in a less desirable truck, but made the best of it in 93. Still have my old ones with gas, and 05 is my newest Cummins. Cannot stomach a new truck price

Gota agree. I have a '12 6.2 F250 that isn't super powerful but bulletproof. The only diesel I still own is a '09 Pre DEF Benz E Class Sedan. Every other vehicle a gasser.

Any explanation why the tank capacity is 34 gals but I can only seem to put in 29-30 gals on a fill up? I have ran it empty once, and still not able to fill to capacity

I've had two 6.7 powerstrokes and a 7.3 powerstroke. I do dirt work and haul scrap metal for side work so I can't really justify a diesel. I haul an Amish framing crew for my regular job and for that I use a half ton suburban. I think these trucks would be a good choice for hauling a skid steer or some scrap metal 3 or 4 times a month. Super excited about going to look at one.

Do you have any advice for getting old trucks to pass? I've been told you can pass any vehicle if you put enough time/money into it.

I believe that something that always gets overlooked is reverse gearing. For heavy towing, you need the lower gearing because when backing you will always be trying to get over some obstacle.

Mine says 5w20? Edit: Just checked my Chiltons manual and it says 2015 and before 5w20, and mine is a 2015. Would you at all recommend going to 5w30 for this truck, or where there some changes made in the engine starting in 2016 that I am unaware of. Thank you. Edit: I saw some other comments about the oil and Im going to run the Amsoil 5w20 I already bought but will probably go ahead and switch over to 5w30 in the future. It

The 7.3 is a joke. When my brother bought his truck he was excited. It was rated for more power and torque than my 8.1 in my 04 chevy. It's a dog. It's gutless. I would t tow with it, because it struggles so much. He says as soon as the truck is paid off he's getting rid of it. That's what I know about the 7.3... my 20 year old truck with an 8.1 outperforms it in every metric other than mpg. They are about the same.

Just curious about the outcome of the oil weight change? I have an 09 f-150 5.4 Triton that may have cam phaser issues. Mine only seems to do it when I am in a very low speed after being warmed up. Such as maneuvering around the yard to back up to a trailer, or backing up a trailer slowly. I really don't hear it just sitting idle or coming up to a stop sign. So I am thinking of this 15w-40 oil change with Lucas
