More than 70-80 percent of this episode is not in the manga. Actually in manga (believe me I'm not spoiling anything) tanjiro just speed run through these trainings specially uzui's training. I'm glad to see ufotable is adding more concrete story to it. Just remember its just a buildup for the next arc and believe me you all are not ready for what's coming.

My favorite hashira is Tengen. I'm also glad to see this arc going the way it is, for the reasons you give. Strangers fighting demons are meaningless. We need to know these characters to care about what they're doing.

I assume that Muzan branded replacements for the three dead Upper Moons, although considering that there are no Lower Moons to draw from you sorta have to wonder if these replacements are really worthy of the name Upper Moon or if it's sort of a contrivance from the author to create "Upper Moons" that Inosuke and Zenitsu can beat.
