@@StGenis they all do more or less the same thing, question is - which UI do you prefer, connectivity seems slightly different eg one connected a bit faster, but generally, they are very comparable

Connect to Wifi, put in your details in the installed Google Play app, off you go. Same as in every "phone", which this system basically is, except without any ability to call or message someone.

I can’t find the apps that’s the problem. It says they are installed in settings but I can only access the apps on the Home Screen can’t find any of the others. No other screen to access them.

I'll do a follow-up comparison video with another dash cam I'm about to review, so will do it there.

AUX is not bad, at least in my experience, but there was static (for me) when you tune into the FM radio (as another audio option). These things are not perfect, and if you have the right expectations, you won't be disappointed. Aka "it's not fine dining. It's McDonalds".

Should be ok for anything with a USB port, working infotainment and wired built-in Apple Carplay. It just makes it wireless, that's all. Check out AI boxes if you want more functionality.

Really? I thought it stays on when it's properly wired? I've only done a quick first impressions review as shown in the video and assumed it does more than just a quick "flash backwards".

@@AutoGearReviews there is a setting on the screen where you can choose to have it on for 30,60,or 90 secs when backing.

I don't have any extra links supplied by the manufacturer, so I think the easiest would be for you to simply do a search for Auto-Vox TW1.

It should, as AUX port connects directly to the unit and simply serves as a speaker. If it doesn't work, then you can simply tune into a specific (free) FM radio frequency and use it like that.

@@AutoGearReviews so just use screen only setting. And aux music. Will the touch functions still work to change songs. I’m assuming it would as it’s connected to phone for CarPlay.

You already got it, haven't you done your research beforehand? I've never tried to install any apps on it during my testing, just standard ones that came with it.

it depends on your uses and luck, in all honesty, as some devices perform better for some people. Ottocast is generally seen as the market-dominating brand, more recognizable, hence (probably?) with better customer support. But you make your own decisions - price on these things is a point of consideration too!

Yes I have given it a hard time, you're right, but at this price range not having a dash cam immediately knocks it back compared to majority of competitors, it's just a fact.

I think you'd need to refer to the enclosed manual or just google for the technical specifications. I'd also simply email/chat with their support team online, and ask them this exact question - not sure if they can help, but they'd be best placed to do it

Not sure I understand your question - do you not know what "firmware" means in general, or interested what version of FW this uses? In any case, a simple Google search would answer this in 1 minute probably

Absolutely no idea as we don't have them in AU. But if the car has a built-in WIRED Carplay or Android Auto, this should provide wireless connectivity to whatever is inside your car already. Just check the specs of the vehicle.

@@AutoGearReviews I have recently ordered it from Amazon and it is working well. But the problem is- i can play music well but after receiving a phone call- the music stop playing in the system - instead it start playing in the phone.

I haven't tried connecting two devices to test this, but can't imagine why not... MSXTTLY is a newcomer to the market, so time will tell how well the devices last when left in the car in heat, cold, etc. Ottocast has a more established presence and it's more time-proven, if this is any indication for you.

Just a query on this it doesn’t invert the screen if you turned it the other way alway to have the plug at the bottom and the in off button at the top, most phones do it and it sounds like a simple solution to fix what is really the only aesthetic/ergonomic issue I can see, it is definitely a nice looking multipurpose device, great review 👍🏻

Because it design to be mounted toward the top of the windshield. So the cable being at the top is the shortest distant from the device and the roof to cleanly route the cable. Which is also the reason why the button are at the bottom. It not meant to be mounted on the dash. They have other devices that are design for dash mounting.

When you go to the 'System' tab in 'Settings' there is a selection to rotate the screen 180 Deg, so you can have the wires on top or on the bottom.

I wonder why it matters to you? On paper, Carpodgo should have the highest performance. In practice, your eye won't notice it in daylight of driving around anyway.

Someone else suggested seat covers to me too, but frankly I drive the car every day and camp in it regularly and fake leather seems quite resistant to sweat etc, I see no problems with them so far and no obvious need for covers... 🤷‍♀️

If you have a reasonably new phone with the latest OTA Android update, the Android Auto should be pre-installed or built-into the operating system itself. Main thing is that the adapter only establishes wireless connection between your phone and the WIRED AA within your infotainment unit of the car - if it has one. If it doesn't, it won't work. If your car is old, look into a cheap Head Unit that would be completely independent from what your car has built-in.

This unit doesn't have a dashboard camera, only reverse/rear view camera included in the box.

I'd have no idea mate as you need to do your own measurements of "what would fit", first and foremost. Additionally I recommend researching something that would go "in" rather than be placed on top of the dash as these units do. ATOTO is one of the brands that does the insert style units that might be something good for your needs - but again, you'll need to do further research if it would fit with all the electric wiring needed etc, I'm not an expert in that kinda stuff.

That's strange, have you checked all the other elements of it? E.g. other interfering devices that try and overtake Bluetooth enabled audio stream? I had similar issues in my Subaru Outback that has built-in wireless carplay and android auto and constantly tries to interfere, causing issues... That's just an example. But it could be as simple as volume being down or something like that. And unfortunately I don't know much about how apple watch works or what would help there - I recommend you go to manufacturer's website and look for support or a FAQ there.

Did it cross your mind that this is exactly the difference between my reviews and others? And that people can read about all the specs everywhere? I review what matters to me and don't care *what else* the unit has if it's not passing a few initial filters of being eg too expensive and not having a frontal dash camera. the android auto got an update last week with Carpodgo, (because yes they provide updates and stuff like that) and it is more expensive because of the screen and the hardware, that for sure. got mine for 200USD on a deal

@@AutoGearReviews it's way better to buy a separate dedicated dash cam so you can also get the better head unit. Something that does both poorly isn't a good compromise

Which ones do you use mate? I'm still reasonably happy with my cheap eBay ones and I bought the boot liner too - it's a bit low quality, but was very very cheap and is still doing the job a few months in!

It's a shame you feel that it's a deal breaker and that I didn't cover any features. I feel like I covered what the first impressions video is supposed to cover, but I guess not every video meets everyone's expectations. 🤷‍♀️

If I understood your comment right, then as long as your car has a data-transmitting (not just charging!) USB-A port, and as long as it has wired Android Auto, then the device should work

It's a shame really, isn't it? Such a nice car with massive interior space, but almost nowhere to put stuff in the front, what's up with that?!
