    How long did the ink take to fill the feeder to the nib? I just got one of these with the demonstrator model and filled it over 8 hours ago on July 6, 2024 and still no ink. Upside down, on its side, opened it up to let air get in and filled it a little more. Uncapped as well when it is on the side. Please tell me how to get the ink through to the nib. Or what am I doing wrong? 🎉

    • @Scrivelynotes
      @Scrivelynotes Před dnem

      It should only take seconds or so. Did you try to (empty the pen and) once completely flush the front unit with lukewarm water?

    • @colonelshag

      I should have done that on a new pen? It had no ink inside it until I used the dropper yesterday when it arrived.

      @@colonelshagcould be there is some residues in the feed from manufacturing, for instance, and flushing the pen once could ensure this is not the cause for the trouble you’re having

      @@Scrivelynotes Yes, just flushed out the nib with hot water because I am out of pen flush, but will get some. It was a bit of different colored ink residue, a green/black not the blue that Diplomat sent to put in the pen. I have never had to flush a pen when it was new, but will continue to use this trick. Now the ink if flowing better, not fully to write smoothly without ink breaks on the paper, but I will fully flush it when I get the pen flush liquid. THANKS 🙏🏻

    Thank you for recommending the OTHO refill for my Lx ballpoint as well. The feel of the lx just felt awful to me. I've used roller ball refills when ballpoint refills skip and I do not like the feel. What I did not consider was the spring work around the way you did it. I put the spring in the front if the roller ball refill is smaller than the ballpoint. When it's bigger I will try your method. I am not a lamy pen except for pico.....G

    I don't know if it's me, or just a weird malediction, but i bought this pen few monts ago, and i used it for 2-3 months to take note in my university. (btw i'm french, i bought this for around 60€) So, it was at first very good, except the fact that it's really thin, writing well, pretty smooth with a F nib, i was happy But, when i started to write a lot, my black ink got.. Very insipid, clear, not black anymore (i used to write with montblanc black ink at first, then waterman black ink, and the issue was the same with both inks), so i think it's because of the pen, which doesn't let enough ink flow to the nib when you write for a long moment and quickly. Then, the threads of the main piece of the pen (the thing you unscrew to change the ink) broke, (weird because i wasn't to brutal, this pen cost me a lot of money..) Not a great quality of materials... Idk, maybe it's just a lack of luck, and a specially bad model, but this was not a good pen for the price for me. I think it's cool if u use it without writing too quickly and a loooottt everyday like me Then i bought a waterman allure, the experience of writing is a little bit less pleasant, but seems more solid, (but same problem with the ink flow, the ink trhough my writing goes from a black to a grey or weird clear black..)

    • @Scrivelynotes
      @Scrivelynotes Před měsícem

      If the pen broke, just return it? Should have some warranty? Can sometimes happen that a pen has flow issues, unfortunately! If you are writing that much, I would consider investing in a slightly better pen, if you can. Pelikan, Lamy, Faber Castell are good places to start with

    Great video thank you! I've been using Lamy FP's since I was in 2nd grade and I'm 60 now! I think (purely personal) the gold nib is a great writer, but honestly with the advance in metallurgy these days it really does make that much of a difference! Of course ecstatically it looks and feels great but as far as writing it does not make that much of a difference as you said, a little bouncier and I'm a leftie as well. On the other hand, I've used Pelican, Pilot, Sailor, Platinum Parker, and a few other brands and always, always come back to my holy grail Lamy. Now that the company is bought a Japanese firm we have to see if the legacy continues. Thank you for all you do! Cheers

    I would also add that if you don't like the pencils Faber-Castell makes for these, you can just use regular pencils as well. I own both a Guilloche Rhodium M and a Classic Anello Ivory F. Although the Classic is a larger pen, I grew up using straight stick pens in school in the late fifties and the length, when posted, of the Classic gives me that nostalgic feel of the pens I cut my teeth with. I use J. Herbin Shogun shimmering grey in the Guilloche and J. Herbin Kyanite du Nepal shimmering blue in the Classic Anello. I carry three pens with me daily; I own 9, and third that goes everywhere is a Pelikan 805 which is filled with J. Herbin Fuchsia de Magellan which is supposed to be a shimmering pink but is more like a Pilot Momiji, a shimmering Momiji if you allow me the license. My favourite pen is the GvFC Classic Anello as it feels the most natural in my hands. My other pens are Lamy Studio 14K, Platinum 3776 Century 14K, a vintage DuoFold 14K, and a selection of steel nibbed FC and Lamy. In those pens I use non-shimmering J. Herbin inks and one with Diamine Imperial Blue. If you started with long straight pens, the Classic GvFC is the most perfect match to the writing style you developed when a novice. My next investment is a Classic Broad which I will use for hand lettering technical drawings. I still use a track drafter instead of AutoCAD.

    This is a very pretty pen - and a very useful video description. I think, however, that the lack of ink window is a major drawback. I find the Pelikans I have bought without transparency of body or ink windows rather irritating to use, as it is impossible to know when the ink is running out. So I think the Momento Zero Grande 2.0 must be a better option. It is a pity the Sand version does not appear to be available in the MZ 2.0 range.

    As a leftie that desperately struggles with trying to figure out a pen that works for me I absolutely love the amount if thought and experience put i to this issue. @@Scrivelynotes the part that I struggle with the most is I work a job that I go through pens really fast. I want to use a comfortable natural grip and I love pens. But it's extremely uncomfortable for me to use normal pens with a natural grip that doesn't cause my joints fatigue. Ive been trying for years to find an affordable (not necessarily cheap but disposable) pen for lefties to write normally. So far I love the pilot v7 variants the most because they give me enough ink flow and the ball is exposed enough that it generally won't tear paper if I am careful. But I want to find a nice affordable pen that I know Im going to lose eventually that is just comfortable for me as a leftie to write with.
