I needed a 8 ohm speaker that would match the amp (and my taste) better. Basically a more balanced speaker, with more lows and (very much) less hi...

Two years with the Super 76 and I've learned that old school tapes like Philips and Scotch Dynarange outperform the 'broadcast' lubricated ones. Just shared a video where I paired it with a percussive synth, and it was a ton of fun!

I just finished building my 6G2 and have it working, I still need to build the cab and settle on a speaker. The Weber Sig 12A-S was one of the speakers I tried. It was too bright and thin sounding. Next up was a WGS G12Q. It was better, fuller sounding a little louder and still maintained a decent amount of crunch. Sounded much as you would hear from a late '50's/early '60's ceramic speaker. Pretty good overall. Then I tried an Eminence JS1250 and wow it sounded good. Fat/full sound, tight bass and just enough midrange crunch. Really good sounding speaker. I also have a large 2X10" cab with a pair of Weber Sig 10A-S speakers. It was full sounding and very warm, with plenty of treble bite. The sensitivity is noticeably lower, but the sound was very sweet. Nice compression when pushed. Tonally they are the best to me yet. I also have a 1X10" cab with a Weber Sig 10A (not S) and that one tamed the highs to a sweet glassy tone and a full (for a 10" speaker), warm tone. It did breakup pretty quick, but it is a warm musical breakup. A good compressed tone when pushed. One issue is, it is only rated for 15 watts, but they've said in the past that they put some extra wiggle room in their wattage ratings. It is of lower sensitivity, just as the Sig 10A-S do. If I go with a single 10" speaker, this could be it. But, this morning I ordered a Weber Vintage Series 12A125A. From what I've researched it should give me the big, full 12" lows, with a smoothed out treble and the Alnico compression and breakup. I should find out in about two weeks. I've read the Celestion Alnicos have a complimentary midrange and get crunchy when pushed. I have a pair of 1X10" Cabs with Weber Alnico Blue Pups. They are 16Ω cabs, so I'll have to use both. I'm looking forward to trying them too.
