48hrs in Asheville: Easy Waterfall Hikes, Good Eats & Exploring!
Heyyyyy tribe! In this vlog, my Asheville adventures enter the final 48 hours and I'm making every moment count! I've saved the best for last: I'm showing three (easily accessible &) mesmerizing waterfalls, indulging in mouthwatering dishes that range from delightful surprises to unexpected disappointments, and uncovering the hidden gems scattered throughout this vibrant city. And, there's more where that came from - don't miss out on my previous vlogs, where I grew to appreciate more of Asheville's charms by shopping locally, taking a tour of the Biltmore Mansion, and enjoying more nature trails of course!
With love and wanderlust,
Clo

I’ve been in New Orleans my whole life. Where we lived was pretty safe but when my son was sitting on our balcony & watched someone walk up & try to still his car & my son told him something & the guy threatened to shoot him, enough was enough. We moved to another city which was fine but now the crime is running rampant there too. The crime is awful, the police are understaffed and underpaid & the politicians don’t care. I can remember when I was little & my mom would bring me & my brothers to the quarter & we were safe, now I would never even consider bringing my kids anywhere around the quarter. I will say though that the beads & stuff from the parades most of that stuff is recycled every year.

1st time viewing 1 of your videos/ content. & Wish i could of stumbled across your page alot sooner, when u were still living down here in Nola! (In my opinion), i believe, that U really literally said everything most of the residents (who live here/ pay taxes here) are also thinking, but maybe are not as brave(to get on a platform like this) n speak up some truth re: the sooo many on-going (sadly) never ending issues!! đŸ€Ż God, too bad you seriously couldn't have figured out a way to try n stick it out longer, find a much better living situation after some time getting to know more locals🗣and word of mouth/ found something in yalls comfort zone...🏠😊(would of definitely made your experience probably completely different... or just something more positive, than what u/yall had to go through and experience! (Really terrible & sorry yall had so much nastiness happen, while in N.O.)... it sucks more than anyone can try n make excuses for.. 4real! đŸ€šđŸ˜’â˜č) Man, sh*t!, (from the way u speak, and the way HIGH up there level headed U clearly are🙌, and most definitely having all the smarts, n obviously well educated, etc etc etc .... U could of possibly been the đŸ–€đŸ’›golden WOMAN❣,(who helped take N.O. out the devastating situations/ tragedies presently happening, that are deeper than all the pot holes put together!!🙄) & go sign up/ RUN for the NEXT ☆MAYOR☆ in town! Âż ? đŸ€© We need someone like 👉YOU,👈 who GENUINELY has empathy, respect, and cares about ALL peoples well being in the community and sooo important, the freaking YOUNG YOUTH / TEENS/ KIDS growing up here... (they have NOTHING, ZERO, NATA.. for them to do and stay on a good postive path!) Ughh (i wonder why so many of these kids are constantly getting into trouble!, not that that's any excuse for the ones who r choosing to partake/participate in all the complete "choas" n total "CRAZINESSS' going on... to say the very least!.. But honest question here, WHENNN will the majority of these problems/issues going to be taken more SERIOUSLY and start having REAL GENUINE change taking place for the better/ GOOD/POSITIVE !?, đŸ€” (like u said. ALL that money just-a- rolling on in $$ 💰 đŸ€‘ 💾 like there's no tomorrow... but whats to show for any if it... ? Ummm silence) i mean before its waaaay too late and New Orleans becomes even more too far gone down the stank clogged up drains ), that eventually NO-ONE wants to continue visiting n spending their hard earned income anymore... Then what!? Think about it God its so sad!! đŸ„ș😞 This once so much more BEAUTIFUL enjoyable CITY!, NEEDs something miraculous to be done like yesterday/ now/ a long time ago and still waiting...), u were 100% right on ALL categoriesđŸš© đŸŽâ€â˜ ïž đŸš© sad, but truthđŸ˜¶đŸ˜Ÿ)

@@Lindseyro first I want to say thank you for taking your time to express your thoughts. I can tell that you have an objective view of the situation. Like I said in the video, I love New Orleans and this is not a diss. It’s constructive criticism and informative to anyone who is actually considering starting a life there. Sooo many people in the comments agree with what I said (and some disagree). but its platforms like this that allow us to have these conversations and turn them into community initiatives that make real change. No change can be made if the conversations aren’t had openly. Second, I do think that I would’ve had a better experience if I was plugged in with more of the RIGHT people, but it’s a really tight knit community of people who aren’t always open to outside people coming in no matter how genuine you are. But I definitely understand because it’s a place where you have to watch your back a lot. It took time for people to trust me and let my personality shine through. Once I finally did start to make deeper connections, I feel like I had made up my mind and I was already headed out the door. I already went through too much without any support at that point, so it was no going back. BUT that doesn’t mean that I’m done with New Orleans forever. I will definitely be coming back to visit whenever I can in order to help the youth. I strongly believe there should be more resources for them and I’m plugged in with a few people who are passionate about that. Nola will always have a place in my heart, from way before I even lived there permanently. I just think there has to be a change in leadership. There is no reason the politicians are more like reality tv stars than they are public servants. I can truly say that you’ve Inspired me to look into a career in someone’s office because I’ve gotten that comment a lot from people close to me. But I think the fact that someone I don’t know can see that light is very telling. I appreciate it deeply!

@@clothevirgo Well as I sat there and watched your video, I could genuinely 100% feel your energy n vibes or whatever were for real/ not fake/ not just performance in order to have more clicks n views. For sure was feeling your authenticity n genuiness care n concern about our people and community. Obviously, u really wanted to like/ love it all (how u probably was imagining prior to coming the entire time) Until 1 day at a time, quicker, than u could of ever thought, everything unfolded in a completely different manner! Ugh I know that had to be so tough on u to deal with... knowing how much time , effort, money, etc etc , that u put into the whole move experience. I so wish things could of went down in a much more normal n healthy happy way... but sadly again,, u were able to witness the raw REALNESS of how it really is down here. & OMG when u starting talking about the Utility bills, SERIOUSLY I wanted to SCREAM SOOO LOUD especially about effing ENTERGY!!! đŸ€ŹWe had the same thing happen over at my house, and to say incase freaking out is a way under statement!! I was panicking having mild heart attacks for at least 3 or 4 months or more straight (when i received, that CRAZY high electricity bill after ALWAYS never paying more than like $130 for ever/ years.. no matter what time of year it was... so when the random like "9"something bill came in, I died!! Then in order to get it turned back on, they EFFING then *added another dam $150 dollars on TOP , to the already sky high/ backed up non sense SCAMED BILL!! (I had to embarrassingly borrow money from family., b/c they were only making things HARDEE than harder... & they CARE NON! NATA! ZERO!! U sit there crying on the phone, speaking about ur troubles, (yes we all have, i know), my 2 young boys, barely making it, u can go on, they not even listening. U pay it, or it's cut off! Sorry, that's it. The end! (And it was I believe during those freezing temperature days we would have sometimes 4 days straight . NOPE, they'll let u , ur family, grandparents, whoever, all freeze n not blink an eye of worry 4 ya. Disgusting they were getting away with that for OH TOO LONG! Thankfully it's been kind of more normal these days, but definitely still on the higher scale!! (Sorry I went on rambling. Cause that struct a serious nerve.😠 If only we could truly have more people in this world like yourself, then things would be able to turnaround for the better... 💯🙌 Keep doing what u do! U, 👈I know, are going places in life , and u clearly aren't in it just for yourself. đŸ™ŒđŸ™â€ & I respect and love that in someone. Grateful and appreciate U for all that u do. And always keep that strong, positive, good, genuine personality, not afraid to be you,, n also more than willing to stand up,, say what u feel n think, speaking up for all us others ,who might not exactly for whatever reason be able to. One more thing.....have you ever looked into the history of New Orleans...that will tell you everything... its all structured off the days of ole.....yup slavery... The mentality....what you have witnessed was the "real"........ Some of those people on B.S. make the most money from the M.G...... its a happening that draws tourism... I went to N.O. and I went to get Bourbon Street went in a establishment and the guy in charge talked to the two black men that where working for him like it was 1800's..I looked at them and they both looked at me and I just sank... it was like this is our job.... And there where all kinds of other things that...I observed that where like this is the other side of xyz. Its starts the minute you are born into that realm... Do you know the history of the Mississippi River so called free people who worked and lived along the byways of the Mississippi.... well when it flooded many died....but the owners of the land wouldn't let the people live outside of the flood plain..this happened over and over... Its no wonder when Katrina happened the same attitude ..of not giving a darn.... but I have to say....if you do not look for something better you will likely stay in the trap. Getting out of a place before the babies come and along that note...be able to take care of self before you have children lest you can do better instead of just being trapped.

I am born and raised in New Orleans, left at 18 years old, traveled back and forth. New Orleans Culture and largely the black population are descendants of WEST AFRRICA. Our ancestors came through the Atlantic Slave Trade and New Orleans was the city for trading and selling our ancestors, where our families were divided, killed, worked for free, lived and died. Everything we do in New Orleans derives from West Africa. Our ancestors were named the Creole Store The fleur-de-lis original original origin is West Africa named the Andrika symbol which means nurturing and discipline. The school is not poor. Many famous people came from New Orleans, Louis Armstrong, Fat Domino, Maliaha Jackson, Lil Wayne, Master P., Tyler Perry and many more. Mardi gras is for white people. Our people do second line because at one time we were not able to participate in the parades. The second line dance derives from West Africa, Cote de Vore Killings: The wild wild West! People kill for blood sacrifice, its spiritual ( to gain money) The smell, New Orleans is a port city surrounded by water and canals. A lot of seafood, of cause it will stink. But there are areas that don't smell. Hummm, the Mexicans, Arabs, Asians, Caribbean, live here just fine. They pay scale is very low and the main reason why I moved. They were Slave wages, because it was a slave city. Since the city politicians steal and take care of their citizens, they steal for survival purposes. People steal all over the World. Back to poor education: We are the cream of the crop that started the very first school for Black kids to attend. Some may know it as Holy Redeemer 1941 Dauphine St., in the French Quarters There was no other schools in America for Black kids to attend. Marie Bernard her given name from Ginuea West Africa built the very first Catholic School for Black kids to attend. Think, your ancestors went to that school and they eventually scattered across America. If any Black person or Mexican are pushed to come to New Orleans it's spiritual, it's a indescribable feeling, its the burial ground of where your West Afrrican ancestors lived. Entergy sucks, sewage and water board, straight trash. Crime..... horrible, mayor should be in jail, everything you talked about is facts. Schools are all chartered. Ive lived here my whole life, and im trying to figure out how to leave. Kudos to you for getting out.

My city is definitely an acquired taste. I have a love hate relationship with it and will probably move away eventually. No lies told about the light bills being skyrocketed, not kid friendly, corruption is real, crime is a big thing, it’s about who you know, and business times online haven’t been accurate since Covid. The French Quarter is trifling. I am a local and never cared for it and haven’t hung there since my early 20s and Im 40 so there’s that. Mardi has always been overrated to me so I only attend one a year but on the outskirts. But folks here are truly resilient.

Say Boo. Some things I agree with, most of what you're saying is your opinion. 1. 2. You don't know what life was like before katrina. This is the outcome when this city that's so rich in culture no one cared about. 3rd you sound like you was around a lot of wyt folks. Sounds like you wanted someone to roll out the red carpet for you. Tell me this is there crime in North Carolina or South? Is there racism there? Where ever there is wyt folks present.. there's racism. Where ever there is poverty there is crime. And far is it being hot😂. You been to Houston? Wait Atlanta? Hold up fukin Arizona?? Love you don't know hot. Seems to me that you put New Orleans on this pedestal of your own thoughts, and you're judging the city from that. That's not fair to us. As far as Mardi Gras. Most of us know the history all to well which is why jazz musician louis Armstrong left the city. Yes back in the day when mardi gras first started they wore mask to hide they're identity to do LGBT things with each other. And that behavior came from France. So while we're talking about holidays.. do you celebrate Christmas?? Do you homework on that. Bet you still celebrate it though. Why because they made it fun and it doesn't have the same meaning that it did back then. Well it's a roman holiday where they worship the sun God Saturnalia, and that celebration was similar to mardi gras. I'm didn't mean to go on and on, but I can go to any city and point out the things that pissed me off and base my experience on that.

I can relate to that feeling for sure!! I was counting down the days. If your lease does not end soon, I suggest focusing on things that bring you joy so you’re not miserable the whole time. I will say that I lived in two other cities since Nola and no where has food, live music, second lines, or art that compares to Nola. Enjoy those things while you can. Also I learned living in the city vicinity is different than living in the outskirts like Metairie and Harvey so try those areas if you don’t want to go all the way back to Arizona

If you're wondering where the money is, it leaves the city for the most part. Many people work/have businesses in the city but live in the surrounding cities or the burbs. Car thefts are high in every major city. Kia has a free software update at the dealership to prevent easy theft now. The conditions of the roads alone keeps me from moving there. I don't feel like getting a wheel alignment every month😂
