Herculaneum Scrolls RECITED in GREEK
Become a fluent reader in Latin, Ancient Greek, Biblical Hebrew, and Old English with the courses at the Ancient Language Institute (ALI): ancientlanguage.com/
In the previous video on the Herculaneum Scrolls ( czcams.com/video/vJL02voEzj8/video.html ) we learned where Plato was buried, but I didn't have access to the original texts that reveal that new discovery. Now I do! and you can be among the first to read these words recently deciphered from 2,000-year-old papyri: Philodemus of Gadara in his own words.

What I want to know is why the Romans and Greeks, as well as other cultures, didn't preserve their knowledge on more durable materials, like the clay tablets that had been used in the middle east. Surely they knew about them???

The analogy of grammar being how to build a vehicle seems fallacious to me. For me, learning grammar is an essential part of learning how a language works and beginning the process of appropriation. It isn't the alpha and omega, but it's one important aspect among many others.
