Very good job I may give you guys a call
How much does a job like this run? I have an 08 Sport Trac that needs some work on the rear where the lower toe link bracket is.
@nickydexgg4579 around $500 in materials. Dorman makes slip on frame repair panels for these now... Much easier!!
@@pistonring8 thanks for the info!
Have you ever fabricated the rear mounting points for the trailing arms of Saturn Vue’s? They also fall apart due to corrosion. I would be interested in a detailed video of that repair.
Yeah, they're pretty straight forward, similar to any Nissan or Toyota style trailing arm. I'll make a video of the next one that comes in.
Thank you. I will be looking forward to your video.
I need to do the same thing with my toy hauler (2011 Raptor). How much did it cost you to make the repairs? thanks!
I got the aluminum panels and angle at Surplus City for around $300. The resin was about $100. Ordered the seals on Amazon for $50. Screws and caulk was probably another $25. Hope this helps, good luck!!
This came out amazing
Awesome work
I had a slime ball used car dealer tell me, it’s surface rust. 😂 I hate buying used cars. But I can’t afford new. Great video, shows me what needs to be properly done, to fix such rusted out cars. I see this condition, I run.
Hey I would like you to change out the bed supports on my 2004 Dodge 2500 quad short bed but you 4 hours away. Checking you videos out I might try it myself You do excellent work
Hello nice work Where can I find those for my 2004 Dodge 2500 shortbed
Awesome job. You are my hero!!!!
That's some nice work, thanks much for sharing. I picked up a nice Vue for cheap because of the rust out and this gives me the plan to fix it.
That's GREAT!!! Glad we could help 🧑🏭
I have a similar issue with my ranger around how much would this cost ,
Neighborhood of $1500 depending on labor and materials.
I appreciate you getting back to me , what kind of shop do I take it too or should I look for , I called some metal welding shops and they said they don’t do this type of work , any suggestions ?
@urielrodriguez8971 any auto body shop that specializes in restoration can do this easily.
Have you put any treatment in the roof vinyl
It's fiberglass... No treatment necessary.
@@pistonring8 thank you
Paint it before bolting it in…
Wish someone would come fix my trucks frame😥
Ugh.... Mine too.
@@pistonring8 My pickup only has 68k on a 5.4....pay so much for them....and the frame rusts out.

Why did you weld over a rusted frame. You are supoosed to cut the frame and the cap takes place of it. Not an overlay.
They're literally called "slip overs" by the manufacturer. Nothing is rusty when welded. Iron oxide won't weld... Even with your little flux core rig. Glad you're still trying to learn, we're always happy to help out our fans!!
@pistonring8 you are going to promote rust in between. Don't have a cheap Flux core either bud.
@tjs_welding_and_fabrication Ahhh... Seems like it's the definition of the term "cap" you're struggling with. Although we do appreciate your highly skilled and very educated opinions on this matter, obviously we'll have to just refer to the basic definition of the part being used on this one... Lol, thanks!!
Question just picked up a kit same side as you center left dorman for 05 f150 xlt super crew 5.4l and seems like I have to cut a side to take off length and maybe the seccond square on the inside right by the bend to make it fit right seems to long on each side thanks lmk what u think I verified the part with vin too was wondering if you have to make any cuts aswell
Yep... Sometimes you gotta make em fit. It's common.
@@pistonring8 thank you for your honesty was very confused if I got the wrong part that’s what I figured cutting it out today for the best fit it’s nothing serious just minor cuts n it will work great making some cars board cutouts today n then cutting away! N also was wondering if you know any kits that are available for the rear right by the leaf spring have a decently bad crack got plates but seen some kits here n there just wondering if u have an answer for me want to make it strong as possible thanks
@giacomonovielli636 I haven't found any frame repair panels available for the rear frame sections yet unfortunately. I've been making cardboard templates and cutting my own pieces of 3/16" to weld in.
@@pistonring8 yea me aswell don’t mean to blow up your texts but also was having hard time finding big sheets of 3/16 or 1/4th picked up the right amount for a pretty penny at Home Depot but there only 4in wide and 12 in long so I’m going to have to weld few together in some sections and rly what I need is a big sheet of it to make the perfect cut outs if you know what I mean do u order your 3/16 sheets online or have a general store that would carry them also I’m located in pa do not know if that makes a difference of stores but yea lmk. Appreciate your responses and love your work.
@giacomonovielli636 Oh yeah, I get big cut off pieces from a local welding shop out here in Perry County. They only charge me for the weight of each piece, because they were going scrap them anyway... Check with your local welding shop.
The music rocked bro forget the nay sayers and great work, thanks for sharing.
What gage metal did you use to do this?
1/8" - 3/16" plate steel. Look at it next to a nickle @ 1:40
Are there any bushings on the mounts? Is so can you tell me where you got them?
Nope, it's just metal on metal with a steel grade 8 bolt through it.
I am repairing my 2006 Saturn Vue which only has 150K miles. I intend to drive this for many years after I get it back on the road. I have done a few things different. For one, I am using a 5/8-11 UNC grade 8 bolt with a self locking nut. I want the nut to be accessible in case I should ever need to drop the cradle. The nylon insert in the nut will not stand up to the temperature of welding it in place plus these should only be used once ( I design stuff for the Navy). I incorporated an access hole for the nut. the access hole will have a cover plate with gaskets and retaining screws to prevent entry of water.
What side of a battery do you takeoff?
The negative (ground)
Great job!... Where are you located ?.. Thank you to share
Loysville Pennsylvania
How much to do mine lol but fr how much
Depends on how far gone they are... Usually around $650 per side average cost.
Where r u located
Question for you Sir, was that a crew cab truck you were working on? If so do you remember who the manufacturer of the green part is? I’m looking for a 1 piece design, but Dorman seems to only make these for the extended cabs. Maybe I just haven’t found them yet.
All the green frame repair parts are made by Doorman. Sometimes I get lucky and find them on eBay or Amazon... The frames are similar enough to use the extended cab sections on a quad cab truck.
Great work, what did you use to replace the floor itself? The ranger floor patch panels ?
Eighth inch galvanized sheet metal.
amazing how much will you charge to come fix mine? good clip short and to the point! good music
Put us up in a nice campground nearby. I'll bring my motorhome and give you a great price on the repair... Hahaha, the wife and I will make a mini vacation out of it.
What size bolts do you use?
If I remember correctly, they're 1/2" x 13 thread. Two and 3/4" long, grade eights.
lousy music had to mute it to watch
We aim to please!! 😉
Hey there, I have this problem on my 2006 V6. I am about 2 hours away from your shop, highly considering having it repaired by you. What are the dangers of driving it?
If it comes apart on both sides, there's a good chance that the engine will contact the body on the passenger side and damage the ac compressor and serpentine belt. The steering also becomes erratic and you'll crash head on into a church van full of orphans. Better to have it towed.
Thanks for the video. How much does it cost to fix both left and right if I come to you? My 2007 Vue is that rusty, but one side dropped down already. I hanged it to that upper hole with a big bolt. Need a permanent fix.
$1800.00 total both sides.
Wow! Beautiful work. I need this done to my 2005 F150 STX. Are you close to Harrisburg? Thanks in advance.
We're 15 - 20 minutes outside of Harrisburg.
Bad ass great job
I have a 04 ram that needs rockers and my bed is really bad but I got a nether bed that's in a lot better shape but it needs some work as well and it needs engine work done as well but I will be doing it all the plus side is the frame is really good
I’m about to do this repair on my Vue I’m not scrapping this suv it runs so well even with 200k
Do you have a more detailed video?
Yes.
Do you do repairs on them for people? We have a 2006 that has both sides in the front affected.
Oh sure... These videos are all from customer's repairs. They come from all over the northeast to have this done here.
@@pistonring8 do you have any idea what the price would be and how long we would have to leave the vehicle. Do you have a phone number to reach you at?
Yep... They average $900 per side. Address and phone number are on most of our earlier videos and Facebook page.
Can I still use that kit even if mine is rusted from front to back
Oh sure... These are just the center sections. They make a nice solid start to weld your homemade plates and other pieces to.
@@pistonring8do they make frame rail/plates for the front section? I have a problem on one side between the mid frame and front shock mount
@@KollynJ I haven't been able to find anything but mid sections... Let us know if you do.
I have an 06 Silverado with pretty much the same rusted frame damage. Here in Indianapolis I get automatically turned away when I I tell them about the damage. Apparently here in Indy, It's a lost skill that no one but the dealers know how to fix. No shops will even look at it.
wound up doing exactly this in my driveway - worked perfectly. Used 3/8ths plate and it is now far stronger than it was from the factory
That's some thick plate... Will outlive the rest of the car for sure... Nice!!
@@pistonring8 I appreciate you posting this as I used it as a guide to how to fab this up. Worked great. Thanks from Missouri
Hey I see you are in PA. Could I get your info I would like to get the same body work done to my 2003 navigator if possible.
Sure... Just Google Skunkworx Fabrication or rust repair in Pennsylvania. Our Facebook page is first on every search engine.
Hey, how much would you charge to do this job for someone? I need this done 😆. 2006 V6 FWD 169,xxx
Depends on how far gone it is... They're all different. Usually in the neighborhood of $1500 to do both sides.
@@pistonring8 thank you for replying. It's completely separated but only on the driver side. Guess I'll wait until the other side goes then say goodbye or try to fix it at some point. Thanks again.
What size square tube did you use for the cross bracing on the bottom of the bed ?
Two by two.. Eighth wall.
Question, could you make a kit for this and ship to Chicago?
They're all rusted at different heights... A universal kit would have to be the entire body mount. Not sure it would be feasible.
@@pistonring8 is there a way I can get in contact with you ?
Sure... Give us a call text or email. Our info is on our Facebook page.
I also live in Illinois. Trying to get my 2006 AWD Saturn Vue fixed too. I have been in touch with Skunkworx. Just wishing Loysville, PA was much closer.

what is with the music playing??? could hardly watch the video for the noise.....GEEEEEEEZ
Mute it.... Haha!!
@@pistonring8 Please next time, skip the noise and talk about the extent of the damage and the repair technique decisions. I might have appreciated the music if I was in a bar after 3-4 double whiskeys and not trying to repair a truck frame.
@@48Ballen Thanks for the feedback... Hahaha, we'll definitely consider this if we ever decide to make a "how to" video for hobbyists. Unfortunately, our Only Fans doesn't allow us to show off our work as well 🤣😂

Can I pay you to make me 2 body mounts for 2006 satern vue just like ones in vidio
Sure, but I would need the vehicle to be here since they're all rusted differently.
Very interesting mashup of Megadeth songs! I found that more interesting
what kind of paint did you use on frame?
POR15
