Making a Handmade FUJARA FLUTE ~The Complete Process ~ The Birth Of A Flute / Part 3
This short documentary shows the complete process of making a handmade Fujara flute!
We filmed the whole process of making this musical instrument from being a trunk in the forest to a finished Fujara Flute and then finally the music !
℗©Winne Clement
This footage was shot in 2014, but we only finished this edit today, 10 years later!
The series 'The Birth Of A Flute, making a Kaval' was shot in the same weeks as a side project.
Our main focus was on filming this documentary about fujara flute making but we never found the time to finish it, until now!
So I guess we can call it The Birth Of A Flute Part 3 ~Fujara !
The fujara is a large traditional overtone flute from the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia originally.
After 20 years of learning experience, starting with the tradition and then years of research and experiment, I have developped my own contemporary playing style and personal version of this great instrument!
Would you like me to make one for you?

Here is a short overview of the history of the Anasazi flute or Pueblo flute and a couple of examples of the modified version that I make and offer. Composition and performance by ℗©Winne Clement. This weird musical instrument is a double overtone flute I made from a natural formed twin tree trunk! You coud call it a double Koncovka but also a double Fujara of some sor...

I love the simplicity of this type of flute, it plays only one note but by varying the strength of blowing and choking the flute, you get the overtones. I have one myself, I absolutely love it! You play it very well, Winne!
the playing and sound is impressive.. just beautiful thanks!
un gran abrazo Maestro, ers unico.👍👍🎷🎷👏👏✔✔
Thank you so much for sharing. Excellent information, and music.
It is one thing to to be able to play and connect to an instrument. To play it in a church with those acoustics and atmosphere is another dimension added to the magic; but to have conceived , planned, lovingly , patiently crafted it as you have done several times before , with feeling , intuition, knowledge , experience , expectations, and result … and finally played and connected to your own creation ( together with nature ) again in a church , thát must be the pinnacle of connecting to and with yourself , few have experienced before ! Wow 👍🪽❤️🪽
are you doing the circular breathing method? well played
What is the name of the wood?
Love IT !!! Great Job ! Amazing , all your fipple flutes but this one is special ! Thank you ! and the future you even better :o) Rabitt number one teath marks very special blessings !
What is the name of that "machine" that makes that resonating monotonous sound? I´ll be glad for answer, seems like a good partner when you don't actually have one
Looks like part of movie making a flute wow so beatiful😍

This is more like a didgeridoo than a flute
This is craftsmanship unlike anything I have ever seen before. I'm not sure which is the greater masterpiece, the instrument or the video. And then there is the playing. Wow!
Do you give also private lessons? It's wonderful what you doing and I just bought my caval.
Sure those are possible contact at winne@fujaraflutes.com
This is insane. What a beautiful sound
Hey Winne, i have been trying to make one of these, but i just dont understand the mesurments, i made manny, but im not sure if i made them right, or just playing them wrong, are you able to help with any info? not a worry if not, really appreciate you.
You have a great tree growing! It is very light and durable! You work a lot with hand tools - that's inspiring! I watch your videos many times, it motivates me to develop and take my first steps in making musical instruments!
🙏
Wait... Dogwood? Where can you get it in Slovakia?
Ohh... It's "Dreň" I learned about Dogwood recently and thought it's a native American wood species... While it is native to North America, it's also native to the whole of Eurasia and in Japan. What a distinct word by it's mechanical characteristics....
What a fabulous sound ❤
What a great sound! I'll be glad to trade you my best 'Zoob Tube' for one!
I really want to own and learn the kaval flute. can i have it.
Espectacular! Yo quiero una!!!!!!❤
This changed my life. I must own one of these.
Try listening to Macedonian Kaval video.
Het klinkt als een mooie project om met de kinderen samen te maken! Bedankt!
so sexy
Truly mesmerizing!
Now I wish I had one :D
Marvelous! Thank you for sharing.
Very interesting, yet, I suspect that making coherent music out of it requires ... experience.
Was this made with Elderberry? I watched the entire video, and bravo! I never expected it to have such a beautiful, haunting sound, and it looks amazing too.
For those wondering, its called koncovka - a slovakian, traditional overtone flute, this one is maked the same way
wow! thanku :) amazing video
