Half Marathon Training Part 4 #halfmarathontraining
Fourth training vlog / training diary for half marathon that's coming up. This will be the first time running this distance since the Achilles rupture almost two years ago. #halfmarathon #halfmarathontraining
Training for a half marathon with a months worth of training. A couple of weeks a go i had a friend who ran a half marathon. Whilst chatting post race day I asked when her next one was joking. She said a friend encouraged her to sign up for one at the end of August. I looked at the race and after seeing it was on a beautiful trail in the woods i decided to sign up. The trail is a old train track route which i thought could be cool.

I'm not trying to increase but am doing same as when I was 70 and expect to if I'm still alive when I'm 90. Strength training one form or a other since I started at 13 with a 35lb York dumbbell. I’m starting week 4 tomorrow, these videos are helpful. Had a couple bad days but generally pleased with how I’ve managed. I’m 69 yrs old and injured on a mountain in Az. Worsened with hiking in my local hiking club. I’m in good shape but will not start PT until week 6 per Dr order. The immobility has been the worst part. I had a tear, not a rupture, and bone spur irritating the Achilles. The comments about a sore knee and left lower back discomfort from the scooter were appreciated. So looking forward to ridding myself from this heavy, hot boot and getting back outside !

I recommend this too a lot of people but the biggest thing that helped was the swimming pool. Deep to shallow you can adjust your bodyweight which was really helpful. I was able to walk, bound, jump, heel lift weeks before I could full bodyweight. Think the pressure of the water helped with flushing all the crap out my leg also.

I have / had great mobility on hitting my squat’s ass to grass, I recently partially ruptured my achilles and can’t wait until I get back to weight lifting, but my biggest concern is never being able to hit that deep of a squat.
