I watched the full event that day and you were the only skater that actually challenged yourself. Everyone else cautiously skated and hoped for the best. You got out there and put it all on the table. Great job !

I had no idea that a star lift was basically a cartwheel. Also, love the idea of getting your legs used to the cold by wearing tights. When I lived in CO, i would drive two hours each way to train with Todd.

I guess that the Adult Skating Championships are going to have to create more categories to make it more fair for the skaters who just started skating as adults and as opposed to the more seasoned skaters.

Sometimes pairs and dance can be awkward on a personal level. You look great with your new partner and I wish you all the best. Thank you! I found your video helpful. I started skating on regular in-line skates, transitioned to ice-skating, and now I am considering put off ice skates like yours. It’s crazy how many pairs of skates I have now. It’s getting out of control. 😮 I loved your Couples dance with a chair. That’s a classic! 😂

I am still trying to get the courage up to post a video of my own skating (I'm Pre-Pre), so I know the feeling about being less than perfect. However..a while back a Gold skater I know, who ended up on the local news a few years back, said that when the news folk came to video her skating, they loved the waltz jump better than her Axel and her other big jumps. Sometimes I guess we have to keep our own perfectionism out of our way. And this program was lovely. Congrats.

This is actually a perfect video for the dedicated adult beginner, thabk you!!! This is exactly me, and finding this video was a perfect fit for what i needed help with lol!! Im training off ice and taking it slow, but I didnt realize my weak backward edges were the problem 😅 this video gave me so many useful things to work on!!! Only thing: I wish there were some slow-motion shots of your feet and hips as you move! It can be hard to observe the necessary weight shifting when all black legs move very fast! Thanks again for a very helpful video ❤

I actually like the term adults who became skaters because it is very different from skaters who became adults although both are counted as adult skaters.

you have to be careful... if you pull too much too fast they CAN shock out....

So when I moved to Canada from the states(my husband is from Canada) I was fortunate to inherit a few kids from a coach that was moving away. To make the story short, first competition: SHOCKED!!! None of my kids, or any of the other kids for that matter, had make up done, or clean skates. From the time I was little, ANY competition, every child, teen, adult had their “Sunday best” clean skates, some makeup on and off ice. So when you were talking about Canadian judges and makeup, it hit a note with me. It’s changed a bit since I came here over 30 years ago. The kids are wearing some makeup, but back then, boy it was a shock coming from the US skating community to the Canadian community. 😊

Good luck to competition. You're lovely and just what you are is good. It's impossible to skate without fuel and we must drink. You feel great - that's the thing that matters <3.
