The Knit Purl Podcast, Ep. 3: I tried (almost) every mohair on the market so you don't have to (AD)
zhlédnutí 34KPřed 2 lety
Hi, my name is Sophie and I am obsessed with mohair. Like, really obsessed with the stuff. It’s my favourite type of yarn to try and review and, for some reason, I decided last year that it would be a good idea to try as many different mohair yarns available on the UK market as I could. Many, many swatches later, I’m finally ready to share some of my preliminary findings. I intend to publish a ...

It was so much fun and such a pleasure to meet some friendly faces (special shout out to @_laurapenrose_, @JonathansDay...

Leaning increases can sound intimidating when you come across them in a pattern, especially if you are a relatively new knitter. Please please please keep making podcasts. You are interesting and enjoyable to listen to. I don’t like many knitting podcasters. But I love listening to my favorites while I knit. You will be in that group. I’m excited for you and impressed that you are managing to make knitting into a career. Am I mistaken or were you doing a phd at one point?

It’s great to see you posting again! I stumbled upon your previous videos when I was first delving into knitting again and especially your mohair video was sooo helpful! English not being my mother tongue, I'm a slow reader 😅 Don't worry about your speech pace. As a viewer, we can play around with the settings and slow down the video (depending on the podcaster, I pretty much always have to speed up or slow down the video to my liking ahah).

Hello How much yarn did you use to knit each sweater? I can't determine how many 25 grams balls should I buy?

  • @Anna-the-green-yarn

It was really interesting to listen, thank you.🥰😍 I have very similar opinion about the most of the yarns. The only difference is that I in my opinion Isagers mohair is so much (like really heaven vs. hell :D) more superior in quality than Drops. :) Isager`s quality is consistent and I can be sure about it, while Drops wears off easily. Hugs from fellow mohair lover🥰 By the way, I also didn`t feel the chunky mohair thing, but just for a few days ago I just got so into it so now I love it. Worth to give it a go again😁

Have you tried Southampton from Webs? It’s US brand and it’s quite reasonable at around $9.99 US per skein. They clock it in as as light DK but it really does knit up more like a lace weight despite this and the bloom which isn’t overwhelming but IS lovely.
