I hated Halo 4s 5 art style, h3 art style looks way better.

A lot of people give Halo 4 some hate but I liked it. It felt odd to me at first when I thought I was fighting the covenant still even after the war ended in Halo 3. But as I progressed through the missions it grew on me. And getting to pilot the Mantis was hella fun.

Honestly Halo 4s campaign was very good if you can look past the artstyle change. It wasnt bad at all!

I think an interesting way to handle it would have been to have the pre-Infinity section have Chief have noticeably lower combat performance, with the justification that the Mark VI suit is suffering a combination of pre-existing damage left over from the events of Halo 2 and 3 with Cortana being unable to perform any maintenance on the suit during the years Chief was in cryo. After making contact with the Infinity, there's a cutscene where he's issued a new Gen2 suit that brings him back up to full performance.

Man those cinematics looks like Mass Effet than Halo. Just one thing that a i hate about the cinematics

Basically they could have kept all the original assets from 3 for the beginning half of the game. Then switched over to the new stuff once Chief met up with the Infinity. That would have made way more sense. The engine sound of the Warthog bugged me, especially when my suspicions were right back then and it was in fact a 454 with a blower that was done for the sound. As well as changing the suspension from the leading/trailing arm suspension. You can explain away the armor, but not the small arms and warthogs before Infinity showed up.

I think the best way to introduce Chief's new suit was to have him wear the old one, but have no armor abilities or sprint. Then when he gets the new armor, it feels stronger as he gets the armor abilities and sprint, heck, make him feel abit weaker in the opening then upgrade him and make it FEEL different, even if its not. Wouldve felt alot more consistent and better overall.

I always imagined cortana was upgradiupgrading his armour as he slept via robotic arms or something... i imagined thats what chief meant when he said "you've been busy" she does have all the knowledge of humanity at her disposal, i think a bit of experimentation would be something she'd likely do to pass the time

“You’d appreciate living to fight another day” I don’t hate this game, but come on. This is the Master Chief. Literally all he does is jump head first into dangerous situations to protect other. The fact he lives to fight another day isn’t out of caution, it’s out of skill.

Del Rio makes a lot more sense in this one.

343 Industries dialogue is just… missing something. The characters are too forceful. Too cringy. It just screams “we’re trying to push a narrative here” rather than the good writing old school Bungie had.

The h4/5 armour was the best for me as it was the most ergonomic. The designs before and after limited the natural range motion in the arms and legs, the best and most recent example of this logistical issue is probably the Halo TV series. The updates version takes things like that into consideration For instance with the Halo 1-3 (& infinite) variant, to climb/mount something taller than yourself the shoulder pads would make contact with the vents on the chest plate( in the games this is solved with clipping) at best you could do a moderate "T-pose" 343 may get a lot of flack but the design id argue, makes more sense in the real world than the bungie rendition

I was always boggled at the redesign.. It's clearly meant to be the same armour he wore in 2 and 3, but 343 decided they needed to change it.. It reminds me of how CoD games will have "impressions" of real-world guns to avoid copyright laws. The whole thing kind of leans into the community's feeling that 343's Halo was a knockoff of Bungie's original, not a continuation.

Halo 4 I absolutely loved and I really liked the new armour style, but I hated the way it was all just changed for no reason, same with the frigate that chief escaped the ark on, he was still on that ship in halo 4 and the entire ship looked different to what the frigates did in prior games

343 jumping in with this “actually our redesign is better anyway” attitude like halo was broken is the reason I don’t like this suit. Changing the foreword unto dawn was silly too

It would have been interesting if Chief's armor get's even more damaged on his way down. Cracked visors visible during gameplay from first person view. Flickering or discolored HUD, maybe even incorrect info at at time. Shield recharge either takes longer or won't go fully back up. No sprints and no equipment. It will coincide with the intro of the Promethean, making them more difficult to fight and more menacing. Have the Spartan 4s meet Chief and out performs him during gameplay. Having Chief on the back foot narratively would parallel his physicals vulnerability with Cortana's personal vulnerability. Then after getting to the Infinity, Chief get's the new armor. Then he get's sprints and intro to the equipment, then let the players out perform the Spartan 4s to show Chief still got it.

The kids I went to school with hated that they changed his armour. Of all the reasons I was bullied, this is what I hated the most

Personal I would have either done it when he was talking with Cortana before leaving on his own to fight the Dyedact or when the Librarian gave him the genetic upgrade to resist the Dyedacts weapon.

I actually like the suit chief has on in 4/5, problem I have with it is that it doesn’t feel like chief

I think if they started with the old designs and then slowly introduced the newer designs it would have been a lot better.

I’m so glad to see I’m not the only one who was upset about this😂 I don’t mind the new redesigns I really don’t but the fact they were so lazy as to have all Spartans look exactly like chief does now what 20-30 years before that version of the armor came out with elites looking like they did in 4 and then to have a throw away line about cortona upgrading his suit when he still has damage and it looks exactly the new spartan armor always made 12 year old me mad

I just figured cortana added armour upgrades to chiefs armour while sleeping.

Halo 4's armor has grown on me over time, but I think my biggest problem with it is it makes cheif too tall. Like yeah spartans are meant to be taller but 4's armor has him towering over other characters. Compared to the bungie era where he's maybe a foot above most the human cast.

RANT INBOUND: THIS!! A million times THIS. I've had this exact same thought ever since I played this game in 2012. The Master Chief falls from the sky on a piece of ship debris. This is the second time he's done that wearing the same suit. That's more than enough reason to need a new one. But instead in an interview they made up some crap about nano tech..... Really? Did this nano tech also change the entire back half of the Forward Unto Dawn? Did it travel back in time and change the armor for all of the Spartans? I would've been less insulted if 343 had just said "yeah we're retconning it". Still dumb but honest.

Everyone talks about the Master Chiefs armor which yes it didn’t make sense and was too much, but holy shit did they fucke up the Marines soooo bad in this and then not a single one in 5.

I hated 90% of Halo 4, especially the huge changes in the lore. The armor is nothing compared to the rest. You can't fix that.

Halo 4 ought to have been delayed until it was an Xbox One launch title. That way, there would have been none of the problems with the storyline of Spartan Ops, none of the cutscene issues with Halo 4 era Mjolnir being used to represent the fall of the colonies, and we may even have had Halo 3 era Cortana right up until the meetup with Infinity. Plus, there had to be some way to work the Flood into a campaign where we're fighting something designed to exterminate the Flood.
