So there is some more back story to the saving of the station. It was the maintenance of way headquarters for the philly sub, under roadmaster Buck Gray, when he retired, his assistant who succeeded him. Dave Lackford, promised to save his bosses old office, he stalled and prevented the demolition of the station

Another error, csx was created as a corporate merger of the seaboard coastline industries and the chessie system on 1 November 1980, originally intended as a holding company or corporate power. Control of the seaboard started in 1986bbefore taking control of the chessie in 1987. It was never originally intended to be an operating entity and no one planned to ever see a train with csx on the side in fact reporting mark rules forced the t on the end of csxt as x refers to private non carrier ownership

Also of note after the collapse of the first Susquehanna river bridge. A temporary junction was constructed to the PRR at the area around oakington. On the far side the existing connection between the B and O and the port road branch of the PRR that joined the Philadelphia to Baltimore mainline at perryville

A couple of errors. The B&O never went railroad east(north directionally) of Philadelphia. They had trackage agreements over the reading at park jct in Philadelphia and the CNJ. They did have a controlling interest in the Staten island railroad and operated through that in the north jersey and NYC market. Including some car float operations

An excellent presentation. She covered many topics American historians leave out. If I could ask one question. Were the British aware of this march towards Yorktown? It would seem that large bodies of troops marching south would get the attention of the enemy or their loyalist allies, spies, etc.

This was a fascinating presentation. I live in a town along the trail in Connecticut, and would love to ask Dr. De Rode about the names of French soldiers who died in Connecticut on the way to Yorktown. There is a monument in a hidden cemetery in Waterbury Connecticut to "Two Unknown French Soldiers" who died just before they reached town. I tried to place them through battalion lists but information was incomplete. Is there any mention of the these soldiers among the narrative information at her disposal? It is sad to think of French soldiers buried so far from their homes and families without even knowing who they are. I hope we can learn their identities.

I don't know if it's ever been looked into, but I used to live in a house in Street, MD which we thought was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Under the grand main stair case was a closet w/ a bricked/ boarded up door which had a passageway to the other side of the house. But the weirdest, most compelling, was in the cellar were several "rooms" which were out of main view where you could barely sit up. One had a "window" over 5ft that you could squeeze through with 2 others around a corner.

I am trying to solve a mystery. My family owned a farm in Abingdon Md. It was called Cedar Grove Farm, now Box Hill North. There were graves in the center of the back field bordering Laural Bush. The graves stones were short, under 10 of them and there were trees and hitching posts. I don't recall being able to read the names or dates, we moved when I was 14. The farm before us was owned by the Hall family, connected to Constant Friendship, White Hall's and Sophia's Dairy, Aquila Hall. I searched and found the Halls are all burried at St Marys and St George Episcopal, so who was burried in those graves. Before the Hall's in 1704 the land was called Campbell's Adventure and it was owned by John Campbell. If that's correct the graves may have belonged to his family? When the farm was sold to developers the graves were sadly bulldozed over we were later told. It has been suggested lately that it may have been a slave cemetary! Until that point I had never imagined slaves on that land, it made me sad to think of that posibility. Bottom line, how can I find out who was burried in that now lost cemetary. I wish we had asked more questions back in the day. Any ideas would be most welcomed. Thanks for all you do, and for this great teaching video.
