Maya Black Polygons on geometry fix
Have some black polygons on your geo in Maya 2022/2023? This could be one of the fixes for those black polygons.
Another fix you can look at is to Mesh Display-reverse, or Mesh Display - Unlock Normals

Redhsift SSS Skin part 4 - Reflection maps & Final Tweaks
zhlédnutí 291Před 3 lety
The final installment of the skin shader, I will be working on the specular/reflection/gloss map. Watch the video at 1.5x or 2.0x becomes a lot more watchable :)
Redhsift SSS Skin part 3 - Thickness Map tweaking
zhlédnutí 495Před 3 lety
Part 3 of the Redshift skin shader, tweak the thickness map to bias your SSS, and to lower scatter on things like makeup.
Redhsift SSS Skin part 2 The Shader Scattering Layers
zhlédnutí 616Před 3 lety
In this 2nd part of the Redshift Skin Shader tutorial, we go over dialing in the SSS radius for all three layers, and we discuss what I think good looks like :).
Redshift SSS Skin part 1 - The Maps
zhlédnutí 1,6KPřed 3 lety
In this video series, I will be looking at the Redshift Skin shader and how it is used to create a decent skin material when using hand painted maps. This video looks at the setup for the shader and shows what the maps look like.
Redshift - Advanced Volumetric/fog techniques
zhlédnutí 5KPřed 3 lety
Using Redshift 3.41 in this video I will be going over how to put some variation in to your fog/volumetrics, as well as utilizing the Redshift state variable to control the height of the fog. My tutorials playback well at 1.5x speed :D. The environment was created by one of my students Nathan Wen, check him out on linkedin linkedin.com/in/nathanwen
Maya Lighting for Animators 6 Arnold Spotlight with gobo/cookie tutorial
zhlédnutí 235Před 4 lety
Today we will be looking at using the Maya spotlight in the Arnold renderer. After looking at the spotlight features, we will use a gobo/cookie to create the look of leaves outside our window, and do a little lighting tutorial on how we are going to light our environment.
Maya Lighting for Animators 6 - Arnold Photometric/IES Light
zhlédnutí 53Před 4 lety
We're taking a look at light profiles, which are basically more realistic light patterns that are cast from light sources like a flashlight.
Maya Lighting for Animators 5 - Arnold Mesh Light
zhlédnutí 315Před 4 lety
We are going to take a look at creating Mesh Lights! And our hero Kent gets to figure it out as he's teaching it :D.
Maya Lighting for Animators 4 - Arnold Area Lights
zhlédnutí 134Před 4 lety
We take a look at the Area light, the bread and butter of your lighting.
Maya Lighting for animators 3 - Arnold skydome part 2
zhlédnutí 50Před 4 lety
In this part 2 video we look at using the skydome outside a window to light a room.
Maya Lighting for Animators 2 - Arnold Skydome part 1
zhlédnutí 38Před 4 lety
In this second video of the series we are going to look at the skydome. This video hopefully is the longest as many of the light settings only need to be explained once. My Mic keeps kicking in and making my voice deep and then crackles, not to sure what's going on there, sorry about that.
Maya lighting for animators 1 - Setting up Arnold
zhlédnutí 33Před 4 lety
We look at how to download the latest version of Arnold, and how to setup the render environment to start lighting. One thing I had forgotten to mention in the video is the website I'm using at the start. It's a fantastic site that takes all about lighting, color theory, composition, etc. chrisbrejon.com/cg-cinematography/
Maya - Arnold displacement blowup troubleshoot
zhlédnutí 139Před 4 lety
Do you have an object that you downloaded that looks like it's all lumpy or blew up? This video helps you troubleshoot possible reasons why.
Is the project discontinued?
Yes it was just one shot, the original shot is a 2D shot, and I rendered it out in VR to see how it looked, (In Unreal, with normal VR movement it's really cool)
@@rabidpooh007 do you Still have the animation project, i could continue the animation and send it to you if you like
Oh i see did you get the animation ?
What Programm did you use ?
Oh sorry for the late reply, don't check comments really :D. This project was originally a background environment for the steam VR home screen, the Rancor was originally made for a April fools joke for users using my Bespin (Cloud City) Steam VR environment. One of my students wanted to rig the rancor (he's a rigger), and he got a former colleague to help animate it, and they used it as a demo reel piece. For software, Maya for the modeling, rigging, animation, Redshift for the texturing and rendering, Houdini for the fluid simulation, and then Nuke for the final comp. I can't remember if this version is used Katana to light it or not, I think I did because of the shadow issues which was a bug.
No worries, Do you still have the maya/animation project i would like to continue the animation a bit
Great tutorial! Thank you for the solution!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH MY MAN, YOU DONT KNO HOW MUCH YOU HAVE SAVED ME WITH THIS VIDEO
THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN
super, Thanks man
Sick of CZcams's commercials. Downloading this sucker.
if it doesn`t help you can try to select all vertices and press merge vertices (distance threshold 0.0003)
Thank you so much for these videos. They helped me so much!
thank you! This one is pretty useful!
Usually this happens when adding an extra edgeloop. My way of solving this is to export the mesh and import it again, but this is definitely more efficient. Thanks!
when i clicked apply color, nothing happens
The other thing that can be causing it, is that the normal's are flipped, mesh display->average normals, or, unlock them, select the faces and flip them. Another trick I've used is exporting as an OBJ and bringing it back in.
Thankyou sir this information is really useful
Great tutorial!
awesome
Very great and useful tutorial ! Thanks man ! I work with 3dsmax and unfortunately I can't dissociate RSstate ray positions into 3 axis. Too bad !
Sorry I haven't used Redshift in Max, but I've used it in Katana and found that Redshift will provide the missing utility nodes (like range/ramp) for Katana, so I would look at the utilities that it does provide and see if you can find similar nodes.
Could you demonstrate this in c4d? Would mean a lot to me, can’t figure this out.
yeah I was also trying to understand how to apply the texture to the Tint color of the volume scatter.. seems I can't manage to use the redshift graph editor on the environment
Sorry guys, I'm not familiar with C4D :(
If I get it to work in c4d I'll make a tut and give the original credit 🥂
great tutorial! Do you know if i can do this in one scene and import it to another one?
You should be able too, because you're creating nodes in your scene, so you'll just have to connect them up.
Thanks a lot for this awesome tutorial! Help me really well! :)
Really good and useful videos, thanks. I picked up quite a few tips.
This so 🔥 keep this up 🗣 VR tec is coming up and we need more VR creators like you 💯
Hi, it would be good if you do a tutorial on character lighting with image reference. Thanks
hey man you are discovored 😁 i was searching for lighting in arnold and its really nice to catch you
Thanks I will be doing more soon, more about actual lighting situations, I just wanted to define the lights first.
Too cool!
