Guinness was based on a Welsh porter. The stagecoach from London to Dublin passed through there, where Guinness stopped for the night before travelling on. The Irish boycotted the drink as it was deemed 'Protestant Porter'. But the drink owes its success to the British Empire where the foreign extra style is still enjoyed in the Caribbean. I prefer the Original Guinness myself, rather than the watery exported creamy stuff passed off as Guinness in English pubs.

I believe that the "nitro" Guinness that I first enjoyed at The White Lion Pub in Ramsey, England in 1971, was the finest example of the brewers art that I had ever experienced. It took about 3 minutes to tapapinta..The glass cost 50P but was slid over the bar with ice crystals distributed throughout the living brownish black serving. I am still very much a fan of the pint , even today.

Any beer, whether, classic, or extreme, low ABV, or high ABV, produced by soaking malt in hot water at one temperature, for an hour, which is the brewing method that home brewers turned craft brewers learned, are low quality beers, with an extremely, short shelf life because the brewing method produces sugar, and chemically imbalanced, unstable, extract. Chemically, and enzymatically, the brewing method cannot produce ale and lager. The brewing method is used in grain distillation, and produces distillers' beer, regardless, of the title on the recipe. In 1960, the Hochkurz brewing method replaced the triple decoction method in the ale and lager brewing industry, which immediately, increased profit margin by cutting out one third of the brewing process. In 2021, home/craft brewers are still using the brewing method that was used during Prohibition by moonshiners, and that is where home brew/craft brew went, and stayed. Although, a home brewer receives a medal, or a ribbon for an ale, or lager entered into a contest, the brewer didn't produce a drop of the beer, if a home brew recipe was followed. To increase profit in the home brew industry, Dave Line, the person responsible for commercialized home brewing, hired a bunch of advertisers that invented CAMRA. The advertisers renamed moonshiners beer, and Prohibition beer, Real Ale, and came up with stories, recipes, and contests to set the hook. When computers became popular, home brewing became a field of dreams for advertisers.
