Jeep CJ Tech: Basic Electrical Troubleshooting and Tools
zhlédnutí 11KPřed 5 lety
Before we can do a series of videos on troubleshooting the Jeep CJ electrical, we have to have a basic understanding of electrical, and the tools we will need... so that is the purpose of this video. I will be uploading a series as soon as possible, but instead of a wide overview, I will produce a video for each component. One video for front turn signals, one video for parking brake indicator,...

Is there any reason why I wouldn’t be able unplug the harness, plug in the new harness BEFORE disassembling the column to test if the problem with the signal is this part?

Hello sir, I have some questions specifically regarding the dual filament bulb that you mentioned in the video. My car is a 323i e36 1997 sedan available in indonesia and we drive on the right side like britanians. 1. Is there a dual filament socket also on the passenger side? because mine is not dual filament. Do I have to find a replacement? The driver side is p21 12v/4w (offset pin) but the passenger side lamp is not dual filament, does not have 3 connectors (only 2), and the lamp is 12v/21W watts (the pin is also straight). 2. Obc state tail light failure, what obc means is the dual filament one right? What should I do? Kindly advise, with thanks

That is so true.. my arm is shorter than my husband's so when I wrap his he can't do his normal arm in wrap just whats needed thing... but if he would stop leaving them all over the house and yard I wouldn't have to..😂😂

Done this several times many moons ago. Was mostly looking for any new ideas for removing the lock ring clip (in the past, I just used two small screwdrivers). Think I need a sturdier pick, but my flimsy one did the trick. Mostly wanted to thank you for the clear pictures and clear, simple speech. Too many people try to sound smart with big words. Thanks!

i have a 99 323i e36 chassis and i seem to be having trouble with the tail operating. are the dual filament bulbs (outer tail lights ) supposed to illuminate when brake pedal is pressed? i would think so because dual filament = dual purpose. when i press brake pedal i’m only getting the inner brake lights and upper (third ) brake light. i’ve spent hours testing grounds and continuity tests, i even replaced the CCM. Again all of my lights are lighting up however when i pedal the brake only the inners and upper brake light illuminates. oh i also replaced the brake light switch.

As your pulling the old wire you cut, you could always tape on a pull wire to go up with them . Then you can use that to help pull the new wires and connector back down through. Also will work smoothly if you can borrow someone for a minute to help on the other end to finesse the wires and connection through. Thanks for the very thorough and great video.

Thanks for this, I had a lot more confidence undertaking what I believed would be a rather daunting task. The only things that I would add is that tying some string/twine to the outgoing harness can help to change the angle for pulling it up the column (instead of cutting it off), then you can use that string to fish the new harness back down the column. And for anyone who doesn't know, steering wheel pullers are available for loan (deposit req'd) at O'Reilly's.
