I love Gideon, so tough and badass, but also has limits

It’s an amazing book. Could have been a bit shorter bc Wilde had several filler pages in the novel, but all in all the book is extremely good and the social commentary is even better. Written in the 19th century and it still applies to today’s society. Eerie, scary yet intriguing at the same time.

The thing is I loved Basil’s character! He was trying to keep Dorian away from Lord Henry because he knew Lord Henry would be a bad influence on Dorian. I love this story because I’m the more shy and innocent of my friend group and they go out and drink and party and I don’t and they are constantly trying to pull me into their party lifestyle and I have several friends who are like Basil in the sense that they always tell me you don’t need to party to have fun! And they always tell me to stay innocent and not fall into the wrong crowd. I think the book is an excellent example of how the people you surround yourself with do have an impact on your life and can affect you and the more you hang around with partiers the more likely you are to slowly become one yourself! Sorry for the long comment! I just love this book 😂

I am going to start a reading journal this year (started reading again last year) and I think I will go with one journal for a few years: - A few pages for the index - 4 pages for the yearly overview (stats, reading goals, favourite book of the year) - one page for each book I read in the year filled with stickers, starting and finishing date, author, title, quotes,... - then again the 4 pages for the new year

Even and maybe especially after formal education, annotation exponentially increases engagement with a text. Wow. Just wow.

i currently use storygraph! i wish i could commit to a physical reading journal (some of them are SO pretty) but i am way too forgetful LOL. i just finished an unkindness of ghosts by rivers solomon and it was really good - i'll have to check out the deep!

I swear I’m not a stalker, commenting on three videos in a row! I’ve been dealing with an epic reading slump from the middle of May through to now, and it’s also an issue with audiobooks specifically? I normally read most of my books via audio but I just can’t pay attention to any right now, to the point that I’m refraining from rating books because I feel like I didn’t truly read them. It sucks! I hope May got better for you.
