    I totally agree. If I was to do it all over again. I would have gone ridgid or something. Instead of dewalt. I love my dewalt tools but the price of them has got me going what the hell. Ryobi selling a drill that will sink a screw the same as my dewalt albeit a bit slower. As you said. A tool is a tool.

    I became a ryobi guy because my dad is a ryobi guy, and he used ryobi tools to redo most of his house. One of my most prized ryobi tools is a blue chainsaw that my dad gave me because he upgraded to the 40v chainsaw. I also love how the Milwaukee purists forget that they’re from the same company.

    The best part is also that Ryobi is sometimes stronger and better than other brands like Bosch. I’m only buying them since they’re cheap. But also just because I’m using them a few times a year while remodeling our rental cabins or my newly bought apartment.

    Thank you so much for doing these videos! Here is a question. Suppose i am attempting to do a spark plug (or any given scenario close to this). I take the spark plug socket place an extension on it to get it out of the spark plug hole. Then use the torque adapter with my rachet connected to it there at the extension instead of the socket (since obviosly no space for the adapter) Would this even be remotly accurate? My thought is if the physical size of the torque adapter is to large for the location and you use an extension (reasonable size) to get you enough room for the adapter how much would this throw off the torque reading? Thanks again and i just aubscribed to your channel.

    • @Dartmech
      @Dartmech Před 19 hodinami

      You should have no problem with that setup. Any torque loss was negligible with extensions, so using one after a torque adapter shouldn’t hurt anything at all. 👍

    I use Ryobi at home because I pay for them. At work I use Milwaukee because work pays for them. Yes the red ones are great for the abuse we put them through. Ryobi at home gets abused but not nearly as often and never had issues getting the job done

    I am a Ryobi guy.. used the same two drills 1/4" impact and drill. I have been using these for EVERYTHING, And believe me I have done a ton of work around my house from enclosing my carport, replacing all of my windows, and siding. Never had an issue. I LOVE THAT there is basically one battery for all of their tools. Granted they have created the 40v line, but they needed more power and again.. there is one 40v battery. I think I am house Ryobi for the rest of my life.

    Never understood the hate Ryobi got, I've used em all on a daily between being a mechanic, machinist and a carpenter and with the exception of my planner I've never had one I thought was junk and when they do eventually die I can absolutely say that thing made me WAY more money than it had cost.

    Exactly the same reason I bought Dewalt 20 years ago - they were the only ones making an affordable 4 piece kit, Ryobi didn't have the range, Makita was 4 times the price, and there was no other brand making or selling recipro saws and circular saws in Oz.

    I have the quinn half inch torque adapter. I also have the click type torque wrenches in quarter inch drive, 3/8-inch drive, and half inch drive. I had a project replacing a wheel bearing and hub assembly the required 184 ft lb of torque. My click type torque wrench didn't go that high, and the handle is shorter than my 24 inch breaker bar. I bought the Quinn half inch torque adapter for the project. Using the 24 inch breaker bar and the Quinn torque adapter I was able to accurately set the torque to 184 ft lbs setting the preload on the bearing, which is important for the wear and life of the bearing. If that set incorrectly, the bearing will wear out quickly, requiring replacement of the wheel bearing and hub assembly, again. I've been driving on that wheel bearing and hub assembly for quite some time, now. And, I racked up quite a few miles on it. Needless to say, it seems like it's set correctly, as the bearing is blasting and going the miles. It took a bit of getting used to. I used the setting that showed the highest torque achieved. I frequently went over by just a little bit. I wanted to get it right on. I backed off the phone, and retorqued it several times, until I got it perfect. It took a bit of finesse. I've been used to The click type torque wrenches, that click off when you get to the set torque. The torque adapter doesn't do that. You have to control where you stop. It takes a bit of getting used to. I had to go slowly and watch it like a hawk. While I had to back it off and redo it several times, to get it right on the money, there were several times that it was definitely within spec. But, I wanted a closer than that. With a click type torque wrench I would get whatever I get. I never would have known exactly where it landed, or how close. I would simply assumed that it was within the accuracy of the wrench, and close enough. This torque adapter is definitely useful for achieving higher torx with a breaker bar, and getting high levels of accuracy, with several attempts at my current skill level. For many projects The click type torque wrench is definitely quicker and easier with less skill involved. But, the accuracy will be whatever it is. These torque adapters could also be used to check calibration on your click type torque wrenches. Torque adapters have a higher level of accuracy, and don't go out of calibration like a mechanical torque wrench. These torque adapters could be used to recalibrate your mechanical torque wrenches. That operation would be where the memory feature might be handy. One could test where the mechanical torque wrench kicks off several times, and view the readings in the memory for the range of inconsistencies. I'm seriously thinking about getting the 3/8 inch drive torque adapter as well. It does both foot pounds and inch pounds, along with things like newton meters. At the low end, it does about the level of inch pounds I would typically use for most things. And, it would do the things my 3/8 inch drive quick type torque wrench would do in terms of torque range.

    Ok seriously the whole thing of people giving grief to people who use ryobi are just ridiculous. Yes, more often then not I prefer dewalt or milwakee for more heavy duty jobs like working on vehicles. However ryobi definitely is perfect when it comes to the variety of tools that are very affordable and just convenient, like their glue guns, hybrid soldering iron, rotary tool, etc. So I totally agree with you a tool is a tool no need for grief just cause ya see something green. Besides I love the shade of green of their tools.

    I have never heard a specific brand of tools being frowned upon. Where I'm from, we just start with any tool when we have none and it just makes sense to buy more for the same battery system. For some people it means Ryobi, to others it's Milwaukee, Panasonic or Greenworks. Some adults really act like children, comparing tools like toys 😂
