I don't think Stevenonnie is too humanoid in design at all. They are genetically mostly human, and Stevonnie looking like a normal person represents Steven and Connie's relationship perfectly. That's how they both see each other, and how they feel when they are together. Connie can be herself around Steven, and Steven doesn't feel the pressure to be like his mom or the pressure of being a Crystal Gem when he's around Connie.

I truly do believe a not-insignificant part of the hate towards SUF was because of some folks seeing themselves and their traumas reflected in Steven for the first time, at a time when they were NOT ready to unpack what happened/was happening to them. That knee-jerk response is pretty powerful stuff. I’ve had to step away from some movies and shows because of episodes that hit a little too close to home.

As a Lapis fan, this movie has one of the most dubious plot holes ever ( seriously Lapis can't you just fricking hold the Drill back from injecting again!?!?! Bruh... )

I loved Steven Universe future. While I started to get into the franchise, I was struggling with depression and seing the show always got me some kind of release. But steven universe future pictured perfectly what I went through in my life. The wanting to please people, starting to lose yourself, becaming more aggressive towards people. And I also loved the fact that they activelly decided that the experiences he went through were traumatising

Amethyst is one of my fav gems from how much I relate to her biggest struggles. She feels inferior, both in that she came from an awful event and that she came out "wrong" even then. Self-hate and insecurity is something I struggle alot with, so I really liked seeing her slowly learn to accept and love who she is and the family she has.

As someone who just finished Steven Universe Future, I really don’t understand how people could dislike this season at all. This man clearly would have trauma after going through all that as a child for sure n it’s nice to see his growth into a teenager too

Steven has taught me what NOT to do. That stuff is pushing people away and not helping yourself. He’s a lot like me in a way, so it’s good to see him so I can learn for myself

I’ll admit it was pretty cool but I was honestly shocked to see that this man legitimately KILLED Jasper at just his peak performance and it was just interesting to see the fight overall and actually get an understanding on what Steven can actually do when he’s properly trained overall a great episode

I think what I loved most about Future is how Steven's depression wasn't romanticized and how realistic it was for a cartoon about space rocks. everything he did just pushed him further and further down this rabbit hole of self doubt and hatred, he pushed everyone around him away when desperately wanted their company, he lashed out on his dad over things that he has a right to be angry on but for the wrong reason, and he generally became a pretty frustrating person to be around, especially as a protagonist. depression isn't that edgy emo reclusive guy in the corner that everyone is drawn to, it's the person who might be your best friend who keeps hurting you and pushing your boundaries, too needy, too emotional, too insecure, to jealous or bitter, they're sad and insecure and deal with it by proving to themselves they're a bad person by pushing everyone away. it's that feeling of "if they're really my friends they'll come to me" instead of "they're my friends, I can come to them". steven trapped his friends in a bubble and tried to force them to he together, lashed out on his father for making mistakes and crashed the car, over relied on his girlfriend's affection, almost KILLED someone in a fit of anger, etc etc. there's no reason to root for Steven this season, everything he did would put him on the trending page of r/AITA with thousands of comments telling the op "that guy's a major asshole and not your friend, cut him off", but he's a person who's suffering with mental health, and the people around him love him and care for him and know he's not himself. they just understood too late how bad the situation was. it's really hard to see how much a person is suffering when they cause pain to others like that, and time and time again I've seen people advise to cut these type of people off without knowing the full story and the extent of their relationship, claiming you don't have to help "abusers" and put your mental health at risk for them.

Fragments is my favorite episode of the whole show

I love the movie! Musicals are one of my favorite type of movie. This one is concise, doesn't over stay it's welcome, and had an amazing soundtrack I play on Repeat sometimes. The whole soundtrack, not just the lyrical songs, but the backing tracks too. I can listen to it and picture exactly what part of the movie is happening No matter what got me through a tough time where I almost lost a close group of friends, but one of my friends pulled a steven and brought me back. Also drift away makes me cry every time 😭

(1:21:52) I'd like to offer a different perspective to the point you made here regarding Pearl and Amethyst's lines in this scene! While I understand your point, at least to the best of my ability, I actually kind of love how the crew decided to write their responses. For context, I am autistic and hypo-empathetic, and these things has greatly influenced how I navigate social interactions my entire life. My lack of explicit empathy does not at all mean that I do not love and care for others, but it does mean that my approach to trying to understand other people is inherently based in sympathy and cognitive reasoning instead. These lines, while they may sound "self-centered" to some, are exactly how I comfort others when I am my absolute most genuine, open, and caring self. The most intimate and personal comforting words I am able to offer are when I can let others know that I _understand_ -- or at least that I am trying to, as much as I can. I am unable to 'put myself in other people's shoes', (I still can't believe that's something people can just _do_) and the second best thing I can do is try to express to a person I care about that they're not alone in what they feel and experience. Sure, I can say other things, things that are expected and more normal, but they just... don't feel right. I feel like I'm saying I don't care about someone's strife when I don't try to share in their pain like Pearl and Amethyst do here. Which, well, I suppose is why this small little detail matters so much to me. As someone who has been socially punished my entire life for how I comfort others I care about most, seeing language like my own taken so genuinely and seriously makes me feel so _heard,_ even if only through the lens of a cartoon targeted to children.

I still can't look past the show breaking its own lore to revive Jasper tbh. The idea of Steven being even more devastated about his actions not having any consequences is great, but it didn't need to revive Jasper for it. The Crystal Gems would've rationalized and justified him shattering Jasper specifically, because no one really cares about her and she was out there unsupervised and causing trouble anyway, they would let him get away with murder. I think that's just as good as Jasper seeing him as her diamond.

I know Steven doesn't really forgive them, and I'm not a fan of how rushed it felt, but I am happy that the Diamonds are genuinely on the right track, and they deserved to be a part of the finale.

Fusion goes a bit deeper than being part of gem society, its specifically a huge part of Crystal Gem culture, in direct opposition to Homeworld.

Ya know...the way u intepret how relationships truly are like is really interesting. I have never noticed how Greg and Amethyst's relationship was cordial but not neccessarily close/forgiven. Same as how Steven still does not like the Diamonds at all, and by extension they were not redeemed. I really like your interpretation of these relationships, and it would be in character for Greg and Steven, both non confrontational characters, to just quietly distance themselves from relationships which do not serve them. Makes me kinda reflect on how adult relationships are often like, and the ways that I have probably been misinterpretating the relationships in my life as a socially anxious person.

I relate with Steven. My dad was not as laid back as Greg (like i had normal school and what not), but he was definitely very lax with his kids because my grandparents was really strict with him. As a result i feel like i've never had much consequences for small mistakes and bad habits that ive developed and kind of been left to my own devices. Also was pretty good in school so was able to coast through life. Now that i have to deal with real life it sucks that I got to flounder and learn what other kids have learnt long ago while being heavily judged for not knowing the basics.

Thank you for creating this video. Steven Universe Future was always the next part of the story that SU was going to explore and its honestly a great short series. Somewhere near the end of SU I was already thinking....Steven is inside and managing too many of these conflicts and he seems to be just brushing it off...so I really liked that SUF was going to delve into Steven's psyche for ONCE.

I’m sorry but your interpretation of Steg is just very strange. I do at least agree that Steg’s design is not what a fusion of Steven and Greg should look like in any way, but the intent is very clear. It’s supposed to be the platonic ideal of a dad through the eyes of a child. something we see in most fusions, but especially Steven’s is a sort of manifestation of the components views of eachother. Rainbow Quartz II is a Mary-Poppins type babysitter because Steven sees Pearl as his Neurotic, tidy mother figure. Sunstone is a goofy 90’s cartoon character because Steven sees Garnet as a cool superhero who beats up the bad guys and gives lessons in the end. Steg is supposed to be Steven’s admiration of his dad put in form, which is why I feel his design is reminiscent of how a small child would draw their father. As for Pearl being aroused by Steg, I just wholeheartedly disagree. I feel like it is solely supposed to be Pearl realizing her freedom in that moment
