oh man, thanks for this valuable information. How stupid. easy is to find a correct angle with this paper technique. Other ppl teaches you complicated stuffs that really difficult to replicate due to constraints in the available tools. Thanks again.

All I had to see was the benchmade thumbnail. Looking to sharpen my benchmade auto since Benchmades life sharp service sucked. Still a dull blade so I got a sharpening kit to do it myself

Iwatched this last night i know there are plastic stuff out there but it might be good to make a wood frame to lay stone or leather on and either keep the blade horizont or verticle when sharpening if that makes sense

Cool! I've been dragging my knife instead of push forward. I still got an edge but it took longer and the edge wasn't as sturdy. I read that Jean pants fabric can be used if can't get leather, is this true?

First, I'm tired of being blasted by some jackass taste in Slash Metal music. That does not convey expertise or whatever. 🙄 'Shaving sharp' is not the edge most knives need. I buy a lot of knives and many come 'shaving sharp' or 'hair poppibg sharp' out of the box...but can't cut rope or even a tightly (multi) folded paper towel. That's because the 'razor edge' is actually a slick edge vs. one with no 'bite' At the microscopic level, a jagged edge is the edge with bite. It grabs the material and removes it. That's why a lot of stainless steel blades have serrated vs. 'plain' edges. Kitchen knives are pushing through soft produce or meat and so a slick, razor edge works well. But that same knife would struggle to cut through animal hide, raw sinew, rope, etc.
