When will post again?
Your videos are just amazing. Everything about them! 🫡
The k you so much. I had to move to Missouri, but am hoping to start up videos again soon.
This just became my favorite channel on CZcams! 👍🏻
This series is one of the best I've watched. The details you share are far better then others. I've been building for 8 years and on no. 11.....I don't hurry! 😉 Enjoyed!
Thank you so much for the compliment. I’m glad you enjoyed! I hope to be doing more videos soon.
I love the music! I am loosing my hearing and the sound is very soothing to me , your rifle build will have me looking for more videos. Thanks
Awesome! Thank you for watching!

Pleasure to watch
Thank you.
Huuuuyyyyyyyyyyyy es espectacular fasinante aprender ese Arte
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Why you stop making videos?
I had to move to Missouri. I built a cabin here and am building my new gunshop now. Hope to be making more soon.
@@goldenmeanflintlocks9713 ok👍
Four ruffians break into my house.
🤣🤣🤣. Tally Ho!
This guy: *putting effort and spending money to make an authentic musket* Me with a random tube and a piece of wood i found in the closet: :3
Great series. Learned a lot, sorry to be obsessive though. I missed the part were he, and forgive my layman's terminology, made the hole in the barrel adjacent to the pan. Could someone link me to the part he did that? Or if he didn't show that, if somebody has a video similar to it please send it to me I've been looking for something like that.
I explain where to place it in video 2 or 3 I believe. But I don’t think it was shown how I drilled and tapped it. I used a 5/16” bit and tapped it for the “White lightening” touchole liner. You can purchase them at muzzleloader builders supply or Track of the wolf. I’ll do a video sometime and show more in detail how to do that.
Is there a layman explanation for what a swamped barrel is? I read it's sort of like 2 cones joined at both the smaller sides, like the breach starts wide then it tappers down then it flares again. But does that happen inside the barrel only? which is why I can't see it on the surface of the octagon shaped barrel? or is it so subtle that I didn't notice it?
It’s only on the outside. There are what are called Tapered, straight and Tapered and flared (swamped) barrels. If you can’t see transitions looking down the outside of the barrel, it’s probably a straight barrel. They tend to be more end heavy. Tapered and flared (swamped) takes the nose weight out.
unfortunately lefties can't make a gun for righties.
What did the old timers use? Setting aside romantic notions wouldn't a Rabbiting plane work better?
Yes. I didn’t have one for the video. Planes work great! I still prefer to use chisels for the ramrod channel but for the barrel channel I start with chisels and then go to a plane.
I consider thos video a training for getting isekaied
Oooo, I like this.
Dang dude cool. But you couldnt show one clip of it all complete and together?
The video of me shooting at the end and the video of me explaining a brief history on flintlocks, is the the rifle that was built in the series. Looking back I would’ve done a few things different on my videos but still think my camera guy did an awesome job. I plan to make more videos soon.
I am a older disabled veteran,I would love to purchase one of your rifles. I am not good on the PC . But you work is of the best
Same here. Disabled Marine. Best way to contact me is through my email at goldenmeanflintlocks@gmail.com where we can exchange numbers or if you have someone that can send me a message on Instagram.
Improvise a Ferguson!!!! Using standard gun kits !!!! A brush carbine .. with saddle ring !!!
Love the Ferguson.
Barrel forging process?
I hope to do an entire series on that someday. It’s a huge process and takes at least two guys to do it. Finding committed help with that is difficult but I’ll sure try someday.
Hey bro can you suggest some books I should buy for building a flintlock? I know about the gunsmith of Greenville county and the art of recreating the longrifle
Books on building g are difficult to find. But books like “Rifles of colonial America” and others are great for pictures so you can study them to see how their lines are. Mike Miller has a series out on DVD where he goes through step by step. You can order his dvd through Pioneer video.
Hello hey brother I love your videos. Can you recommend some books to help a fellow build from a blank. I really think I can do it.
I’ve had a terrible time locating books that go step by step on the building. Gunsmith of Grenville county is good. Other than that, I just bought books and studied their lines in the images and slowly I learned lol. Sorry I’m not more help with that.
Comeca fazendo um rifle termina com outro totalmente diferente
Yes, we lost the footage of the first one when I was carving it. I had to make another rifle for the last video.
This really should be called how to make a rifle stock and assemble a flintlock considering the hardest part (the rifled barrel) is pre-made.
The barrel actually isn’t the hardest part. Forging the lock and the springs and getting everything to function properly is the hard and most time consuming part. Making a barrel takes 1 day to forge it, 3-4 days to ream it, 1 day to file it, 1 day to make the plug, and 4 hours to rifle it. Less than a dozen people still know how to do all that. And if you’re in a profession to make a living, not too many people can afford that. A 100% completely hand made rife including each screw costs about $35,000. I plan on doing a video one of these days on forging and filing each part. But that will be in the future sometime.
@@goldenmeanflintlocks9713 the lock and springs and the lock are absolutely fiddley, but the barrel bored and reamed and rifled and kept straight from a flat bar of steel is objectively the hardest part and required more specialised precision equipment. As a viewer the fact it’s not included is pretty lame In my opinion considering in the states you can go buy all of that stuff CNC made and ready to go. probably not a massive deal to most people but I couldn’t even watch the video after you pulled out that premade barrel. I hope you do a full Musket from scratch as the video looked high quality along with the editing, so it’d would get a watch from me
Owning a flintlock is on of my dreams Sadly in my home country that I’m living right now owning any sort of gun is forbidden So hope one day i could get that gun….
The thing that I'm wondering is if it'll have the same firepower as ones sold in stores. Great video series and great job!
Absolutely! Some of my customers shoot elk with there’s. Had another customer take his to Africa for big game as well.
Really enjoy your videos. It’s hard to find good black powder channels and yours is definitely one. I read in the comments that you moved to Missouri. If your anywhere near fort wood and need someone to show you around some of the public land give me a holler.
Thank you! I live around Sedalia area.
where did you buy the barrel?
I order mine from Rice, Colerain and Ed Rayle.
These are the best videos man. Please make more .
Thank you! I will after I get my shop built! I’m really glad you enjoyed.
From where did you get the barrel
I order from Rice, Colerain and Ed Rayle.
I'll never understand why people deem it necessary to add annoying, unneeded music to informational videos-- I made it to 27 seconds!
Thanks for the out look of good job
I’m interested in the barrel construction. Do you know any good sources on that?
There’s a video you can buy on “pioneer videos” on the NMLRA website. Also, the colonial Williamsburg gunsmith video is a good source too. If you’re jus looking to buy one that’s been machine made, Rice, Colerain and Ed Rayle make great barrels and other barrel makers as well. Hope this helps you.
Hi tornado
Hello!
Did I miss something? Watched 8 episodes but will we see it completed and test fired etc?
The one where I’m doing the shooting video is the rifle built in the episodes. We lost the footage of the carving, staining and finishing of that rifle. So I had to do another rifle to explain the carving and finishing.
Good video
Glad you enjoyed.
Мастер из прошлого ,в всовременном мире высоких технологий ...это смотрится как ПОРТАЛ ВО ВРЕМЕНИ ...БРАВО МАСТЕРУ ОРУЖЕЙНИКУ.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
I thought this was somewhat cheap until this part
Do you do classes for people to come and you teach them and how much is your fire arms you build
I don’t offer classes yet, but hope to in the future. My smoothbores are $2,500 and rifles around $3,000 depending on how fancy.
I watched all your videos on this, I'm super impressed and thankful that you shared your work here.
Thank you for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed!
Wow..! All I can really say is that! Phenomenal woodworking skills and gunsmithing that is one hell of a beautiful piece of art!!
Thank you so much!
So glad to have found your channel. Outstanding information, presentation, and knowledge! Looking forward to more.......take care!!!
Thank you! I’m hoping to make more. Just been a hectic last couple years.
Make the gas gun please
I am researching that one a lot. I will probably try to do a video on it if I try to build one.
Someone needs to show him how to use his marking gauge he calls a "square " dude would save a shitload of time. Actually, taking a few woodworking classes would blow his mind. He'd actually learn how to use them tools to make most efficient use of his time and effort
I wants mine chunky
