😂😂😂 😉😁 I’d definitely send. Hehe.
My buddy and I plan to summit Shasta hopefully before the end of high school... convincing our parents to let us go is the biggest issue lol
Try Salewa shoes. Absolutely amazing
Have you ever thought about a bivy? Like a borah gear bivy?
@@samuelfranklin2945 possibly.. ive been thinking more about a tarp actually 🤔
No med kit or toilet💩 kit?
good points. I forgot to talk about my med kit. Its very basic - extra small lighter, some bandaids, alcohol prep pads, some stuff to pour into a big wound, emergency blanket, waterproof lighters. then yes, I just bring TP
Check out Chicken Tramper Ultralight gears shoulder strap accessories! I think they’ll upgrade you backpacking experience 🙌🏼
Wonderland is on my list. Heading out to nobo the JMT Thursday - thanks for the content, it's definitely helped my prep. Keep it up dude
NOBO JMT for life...respect! Have fun man!
Do you have a GPS spot for the steep crux at 5:18 / GPX track for that section of your trip? Trying to get a sense for what route to take around the north side of Iron Cap (not planning on summiting, just looking for the safest way from Iron Cap Lake to Tank Lakes). The MapBuilder Topo layer has a route marked around 5400 ft, but it also looks like some people have taken a steep drop down route NE from about 5800 ft at the northern edge of the ridge extending north from the summit. Thanks!
this is on my bucket list, someday I will see it with my own eyes. But this amazing video will do for now. great video!
We used to backcountry ski Shasta into August every year. Now. no. Climate Change is real, people. wake up! I'm too old to climb another 14er, but I've done MANY. I encourage all to come here to Mt. Shasta and discover yourselves and experience the beauty.
Literally my dream trail, been trying to find time to do it for years! Maybe 2025 is the right time…
@@vopvoopone heck yeah, it’s a good one!!
I have found that most Americans go way too heavy with their gear. Since climbing in Europe, light and fast are my mindset. Look at most guide services web pages, their gear lists are so damn heavy. Going into a Chamonix area shop was amazing in what was available and how light you can go. Also fitness, being in better shape so you can move faster and make a climb way shorter time wise. I would encounter Chamonix guides with their clients in tow, that was like watching the Special Olympics being taken to the top of the mountain. I was all over the Alps and I enjoyed meeting people from all over Europe and the UK. Them looking at my gear and me looking at theirs. It changes you when you climb there, I got home and my mindset was never the same in the gear I buy.
The view is like I-90 ... lol :) that was funny!
Pretty sweet ❤
All i know is every animals are very protective with their kids around.. that’s a fvgged up situation
Ive had the same experience with Altra. Ive had two pairs and they are great for fitting the natural foot shape but also super expensive. I paid 230 for the shoe and after about 15 city walks of verty little distance the glue was separating on the bottom and sides and the fabric was ripping. I dont have wide or odd shaped feet. They replaced them but ive had the same experienfe unfortunately. Really bums me out as i was relieved to finally find a natural shaped shoe. Ill try topo. Thanks !!
Hi Chad, I'm about to hike next week, seems there are still snow, do I need the whole suite? is it ok if I just bring spikes and poles? thanks
@@xiaoxiaolei9143 a Hood summit at this time of year is not a good idea. Too much rock and ice fall. The primary summit season is March-June.
Love the PNW content 🥹 back to the roots
@@brettlubinski7541 thanks man!
What a scenery man, this looks and sounds so professional! Outstanding work!
hey I appreciate that! I really tried to put effort into making it as cinematic as possible so thank you
Mt Rainier!❤
The walk ups are more boring when you are young, but become strikingly beautiful when you've become wiser and have more time to process subtle details of flora and fauna which disappear once you get into upper cirques and boulder filled terrain near the summits. Eventually, if you have kids, they will grow up and you will have more money in the bank. Your time to see the greater world without the urgency broadens and you can still reach summits well into your 50s and some. Nic vid.
Way to go! She’s a beast of a trail!
Thanks Krystal..definitely harder than I thought it was gonna be!
I love this videos dude. I know they take a long time to film an edit but the long form content is great.
Hey thanks man! What is it about the long form content that you like better do you think?
@@ChadLubinski I personally like to do similar activities so seeing you outside going through similar struggles in new places gives me different perspectives. I also like the storytelling aspect of the adventure.
@@davisbenn2179 right on man! I also like making long form more than short form so this is motivating!
When was this shot, in June?
@@NVIK5 July 16-20, 2024
@@ChadLubinski thanks a lot. Surprising to see so much snow still. This route is a beast, so much elevation gain!
@@NVIK5 Right! They got a late June dump of snow so that was why
Same story in Oregon. I was in Mt. Jeff and there was still a ton of snow along the PCT.

Is this the Dolomites? Or Banff?
@@JudyMungovan mt rainier!
Terraventure seems to be the best all arounder. 3mm drop which puts it between these and the Altras with less of a noticeable difference for people who like zero drop. And slightly less stack and cushioning than the ultraventure but a bit more than the lone peaks. And still with the same superior durability over Altra.
this is awesome feedback..i need to check them out!
AGREEED. I really liked my altar shoes in terms of comfort but the poor durability is a real downer
I have the Altra Timp 5 and have had no durability issues at all. Ialso own a pair of Topo Ultraventures, on which the sole is showing noticeable wear after only a couple of hundred K. For road running I've recently purchased the Altra Olympus 2
@@johnrothwell4362 how much did Altra pay you for that review
To be fair those arnt really “trails,” more like rock gardens…
@@theinnerdreamer7043 they suck on both
Tbh that’s what I’m looking at a majority of the day anyways. I’m always looking at the ground 😅 would rather be out hiking looking at the ground ❤❤
Thanks for the great review. Just a follow up question regarding the use with the aequilibbrium and crampons. Do you find that the attachment on the rounded heel is problematic or do they fit secure? And what kind of grivel crampons are you using? I have seen them with the popular petzl vasak and that just wasn't a snug and secure fit. Thanks a lot and greetings from Germany! :)
Hey man! They fit perfectly into the crampon lip. I have these crampons: rei.rockporch.com/prdlink/ijaJkKP4vf
That’s me…. I’m always checking out the ground cuz I’m super good at tripping on the tiniest rock. I always make my wife walk in front cuz I’m watching the ground… but when we stop for the night or a break I’m def the one looking at everything! 😂
They scare the shit out of me. Could you imagine getting sucked under there?
Cool I did that when I was 14 don't remember any danger 23 years ago. Are the Venezuelans setting up there now?
@@dkloks no idea what that had to do with the video but hell yeah man
Haha! I do enjoy the process though. And, if all goes well, no t-storms, heck yeah… that’s pretty much what I’m going to see! 😅😊 Btw… wanted to let you know that, I changed my profile photo to something that can’t be googled or whatever, just for a tad more anonymity. Anyhow, I had to cancel my Capital Peak climb. I will hit it next year. I wish you all the best on your climb. Stay safe and have fun! Please post some of that adventure here.
@@ms.understood007 you bet… it will definitely be on the channel!
Tonight the music seems so loud
I am a senior and I hike hilly, semi- rugged, semi-rocky coastal chaparral trails about 12+ miles/week for exercise. I have had Lone Peak 4, 5, 6, and 7. I know my trails well, and I replace the shoes when they start to lose grip and slip on certain downhill slopes. That happens when at least a couple lugs on the bottom get worn nearly smooth. I am getting around 350 miles out of a pair. The shoes have been OK but I'm not a through hiker. Still, I am interested to try zero drop shoes of similar or better comfort that may grip better or last longer. I have had only minor injuries so far from slip-falls, but with so many big rocks around, it could easily be much worse if I took one to the head.
Especially the walk back
