As a Nigeria kid who loved football... Nigeria facing Ghana when Abedi Pele played was a nightmare experience... he played like a demon and has the dreaded ability to singlehandedly decide games... I am sorry to say that his talent level was too much for his kids to inherit... Abedi Pele was a generational talent.

For those who don't know his story, it wasn't easy for black players much less African players back then. If you look at the complexion of the french league and European leagues when Abedi played and the complexion of the french and European leagues today you will realize the impact Abedi had on world football and the football fortunes of black players all over the world. He should be recognized as an icon of world football not just African football and if African players were eligible to be voted for in the ballon d'or he would have been the first African to win it.
