      ***** Very cool, Bro. They are the same. Ka-Bar makes them for every US Branch of Service. My Father was a Marine. So, I bought the USMC one to replace the one that I lost that he gave me. I was in the Army. I got the Ka-Bar Large Tanto for me... :) They are awesome Knives with a lot of American Military History. That's one of the big reasons I have mine... Very cool... :)

    Is this knife strong enough to use as a survival knife or is it mainly for collecting?

    • @Kris_Stiletto
      @Kris_Stiletto Před 9 lety

      It's a Ka-Bar. It has been proven in many "Theaters of War." This one, for me, is a Collector. But, if you wanted to use it for what ever you needed it for, will do it... Sure there are better Camp Knives, if that's what you're asking. But, this is a Combat "Fighting" Knife that can serve many functions in the field. They have American 1095HC Cro-Van Steel and are made in the U.S. Check them out... :)

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      Yes, that's one of the main things that makes Bagwell Bowies so nice; it's the weight and balance. These are the fastest, in hand, Bowies that I've ever owned. I like his Bowies, very much. If I hit the "Lottery" I'll be getting some of the one's that he, personally, made... :) Thanks for the compliment Bro... Peace, Stiletto :)

    • @jgreystoke
      @jgreystoke Před 10 lety

      Kriss Stiletto I've been watching Bagwell on youtube. And he has literally redefined the Bowie for me. Back to its original intent, which was primarily a weapon, not just an outsized all-round big camp/survival blade in the wilderness. Stay safe.

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      j greystoke That's absolutely right! A Bowie is supposed to be a "Fighting Knife!" It's not supposed to be a "Camp Knife..." They are supposed to be extremely well balanced and super fast in hand. The Knives that fall into the "Camp Knife" category are too heavy and badly balanced to fulfill this role; they are just good for processing wood and clearing brush away from a Camp Site. This is not the intention or use for a proper Fighting Bowie. A Fighting Bowie was back up for a firearm, in the days of old... It's almost like a "Short Sword." This is why I really like the Bagwell's. Check out how he tempers his blades... Peace, Stiletto :)

    • @jgreystoke
      @jgreystoke Před 10 lety

      Kriss Stiletto Great way of looking at it. I have several big choppers that are not as packable or as agile as your 12oz Bagwell bowie. I'm sure most bowies in that size range are at least 50% overweight. My 8 3/8" Cudeman/Muela bowie is over a pound weight, and just as heavy as my 12 1/2" Ontario heavy Cutlass Machete! Peace.

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      j greystoke Yes... Though, I'm not familiar with all of the knives that you listed, so I can't speak on those... But, I have a few of the "Camp Bowies," too... Like my "Western W49" and my "Bear Damascus Bowie" and my "American Marbles Trail Maker." Stiletto's Western WW49 Bowie Stiletto's Bear Damascus Bowie Stiletto's Marbles Trail Maker These are considered "Classics," also... But, I would say that they fit better into the "Big Camp Knife" Category... Why? Because, they are over built, super heavy-duty exposed full-tang Bowies. And, they aren't balanced and fast in hand, like one of Bill's Blades... That's how I can really feel the difference and understand what Bill's saying in his Videos... A true "Fighting Knife" is not a great "Camp Knife." It's like the difference between a "Super Fast" Corvette and a Chevy C/10 "Work Truck..." :) But, both have their purposes... And, one's not better than the other; they're just built for different purposes... :) Peace, Stiletto :)

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      Yes, the Scimitar is the inspiration for this "Big Camp Knife," for sure... It also reminds me of a short version of the Chinese Dadao "War Sword." It's like a big "Cleaver..." Perfect for chopping off "Zombie Heads..." Peace, Stiletto :)

      Kriss Blade Bali-Songs are very rare. Especially, quality made one's. In the Philippine's, they are popular for "Fighting Butterfly Knives." But, it's illegal, now, to import these from there. Oops I was able to make 4 sets, the BK-16, BK-2, and the Ka-Bar Zomstro, Then my BK17-BK-7, and the Swabbie, The third set is my BK-10, BK-9, and the BK-16, and the fourth set is my lighter set they are the BK15, BK'5, and the BK-4, very light set, but very functional, even with batoning, but great slicers for feather stix.

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      Yes, the Ka-Bar BK Line Rocks... I like any of the American Made Ka-Bars, they all kick butt, in my opinion. It's hard to beat 1095HC Cro-Van American Steel... 1095HC & 1095HC Cro-Van are my favorite "Big Blade" Steels... Try them out, if you haven't already... I highly recommend all of the American Made Ka-Bars made from this "Great American Steel."

  • @paulie4x1
    @paulie4x1 Před 10 lety

    I'm a big fan of 1095 CroVan, and it seem's I'm not the only one, I checked out a knife on the internet, because I thought it was a keeper, and it was made out of the 1095 CroVan, the price was over $300.00, WOW !, I'm so glad, I bought my Becker's, and I almost have the complete set of BK's, except for maybe 3 knives, I'm generally a 3 knife carry guy, and I don't include my neck knife as part of the 3knives, which is my BK-14, but I found it difficult to match 3knives, but I was able to make 3 sets, my favorite set is my BK-17, and the BK'7, and the Ka-Bar Swabbie, makes a almost perfect set, even the tips match, I did change handles from Green To Black. And what a difference, it looks more like a tool than a toy, one thing that confirms why I like the Saber Grind over the Full Flat Grind, there's more contact with the wood, because the shoulder is at the spine, it drags more than the Saber Grind, because the shoulder is lower it seems to split the wood better, If I had anything to do with the Swabbie design, I would make it a Saber Grind, and a little thinner, to cut down on the weight, my friend Realbigmonkey, suggested the O.K.C. Gen2 SP -53 to me and told me it's one of his favorite knives, when I ask why not the SP-52 and because it's lighter, he said, a Saber Grind chops more like and axe, and the Flat Grind slices more like a machete, and he is so right, that's why my BK'9 out preforms alot of Flat Grind knives, keep up the good work, and continue your productions, good job, Bro.

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      Yes, the prices have gone up, since I bought mine. But, Ka-Bar is still offering these and other's at good "Street Prices..." You just have to check out the Online Stores and Auctions... And, O.K.C. has the 1095HC Blades... For me, I only like 1095HC if it has a very durable coating on it; it rusts real easy... I think that's why 1095CV or Carbon V was invented... Just guessing, I don't know for sure... Very true about the different grinds and how they perform... Flat Grinds, in my opinion, are better for slicing through flesh and bone, or meat processing... Like a "Meat Cleaver." And, can be ground to a finer and sharper edge... Being a "Zombie Blade," A "Flat Grind" would be better than a "Saber Grind" for chopping "Zombie Heads" off... :) Saber Grinds are better for heavy-duty camp chores. Because, they split wood better and they have more blade spine and stock, all the way down to the "Saber Grind," not "Hollow Grind." This makes a very heavy-duty and strong blade and durable utility edge... But, it's not great for fine cutting chores or slicing all the way through flesh and bone, due to the resistance that's created by the wedge shape of the "Saber Grind." Saber's are great for Survival Knives, in my opinion, when you need a super durable blade that will be able to handle just about any heavy-duty chore that you throw at it, without breaking. But, they are not my choice for chopping "Zombie Heads" off... :) Peace, Stiletto :)

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      Yes, it's a "Short Sword." It's too big for me to wear strapped to my leg. It would tie up on my knee... :) It would be nice if Ka-Bar offered a more compact black glass-filled nylon kydex sheath for it, then it would be wearable on the hip. As is, this one would be better suited to a back pack rig. But, I don't care, I love this Big Blade. It's my biggest fixed blade knife and I love it... Though, I would call this one more of a Heavy-Duty Machete/Chopper or Short Sword; it's just a Bad Ass and Menacing Blade... This is a "Man" sized "Zombie Killer," it's not for the meek minded, timid, or physically weak person... :)

    • @ajopasoij9d00

      GMMREVIEWS I 100% agree. Though, I have been tempted to buy one of the new Serrated Cold Steel Hold Out I 1 11HXLS. They are clearing these out and the are very inexpensive right now (under $50.00). And, I don't have any Hold Outs... But, I'm hesitant. Why? Because, I'm just not a fan of "Serrated Blades." And, I know it will just end up sitting in the Safe unused after I do a review on it, like all of my other serrated blade knives... :)

      USMC Veteran, very cool; thank you for your Service. My Papa was a WWII USMC Vet. Myself, I'm a US Army Inf. Vet. I always like talking about my Collection. The Talwar Series is my personal favorite of all of my Cold Steel (CS) Collection. This Indo-Persian Design is really functional and the handle ergonomics are the best out of all of the CS Folders, in my opinion... It's good for Self-Defense, Utility, Hunting & Fishing, and Food Prep. Plus. it's "Sooo Sexxxy..." :) The XL Talwar is my favorite carry on Bike trips, on my HD. Your a Marine, you know knives, get an XL Talwar and see what I mean... It's light for it's size and feels super fast in hand. The only thing that CS could do to improve it, would be to offer a better edge holding steel like the new 440XHP American Super Stainless Steel and perhaps offer one in a black DLC finish... But, don't get me wrong, The CS AUS 8A "Rocks!" And, the Satin finish is "Top-Shelf!" Check this one out: @watch?v=UVpTQL7Lknk Stiletto :)

      @Kris_Stiletto Před 10 lety

      Yes, they are. I really like the American Made Ka-Bars with the American 1095HC Cro-Van Steel Blades. It's been proven in just about every US Conflict since WWII. Though, the Zombie Series is more of a fun series, the USA Made one's are still Ka-Bar tough. Thanks for looking. Stiletto :)

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      Yes, it's strong. But, it's not expensive and is a great value when you consider the steel. It's 1/4" or .25" thick 1095 Cro-Van. It's also called Carbon V by Cold Steel. It's a very good American Carbon Steel that is tough, holds an edge, and is not hard to re-sharpen. So, for a Street Price of around $100 it's a great deal. I also plan on getting the Ka-Bar American Made War Sword. For me, these are fun, big Camp Knives... Love Ka-Bar... :)

      Thanks Bro, I have had these for a long time, now. All of these are out of production. I stopped collecting these in the early 2000's and late 1990's. I started collecting these in the 1980's. I hope you enjoyed seeing them; I used to be really into them. Now, they just sit in my safe. My safe is turning into a "Time Capsule..." :)

      These are some more of my "Old" Collection. I also have a bunch of folding swing-guard knives that I should do a video on... I used to carry the beat up Buck 110 back in the 1970's and early 1980's. The rest were purchased new and never carried or used, just collected. I love the quality of these old US Made Folding Hunters... :)

      I like to carry both sizes (Large & XL) of the Cold Steel Talwar's & Recon 1's. But, I have many Favorites. These are the One's that I presently EDC. I like Cold Steel Folders, because of the Tri-Ad Lock design by Custom Knife Maker Andrew Demko; it's the best and strongest folding knife lock design, presently on the Market, at any price. Check out his Site and view his lock testing: www.demkocustomknives.com/foldingknives.html He's the person behind Cold Steels Tri-Ad Lock Design. He holds the patents for the strongest folding lock design, today... But, his knives are very expensive. Cold Steel offers Folders with his Design for an affordable price. His Custom Designs are made with the highest grade materials in his USA Shop. Where as, Cold Steel has their Folders made Overseas with medium grade steels... This allows them to sell their Line of Folders for a much lower price. But, with the exact same Andrew Demko Tri-Ad Lock Design... Benchmades are good, also, if you get a Model with the Axis-Lock; pass on their Liner-Locks, though... But, they're very expensive, too... I carried the Benchmade AFCK Axis-Lock Folders until the Cold Steel Tri-Ad's came out. I never had one fail on me... But, I did have an Benchmade AFCK Liner-Lock fold back on me... I also had a R.E.K.A.T. Axis-Lock fold back on me, too... I like quality Benchmade, Cold Steel Arc-Angels, S.W.A.T., Microtech, and Monach Bali-Songs, too. Because, of the way they can't fold back on your "Digits..." But, they're not legal to carry, where I live... :( Safety and quality first, over type of steel, for me... That's the most important thing. I've had knives with weaker lock designs fold back on my fingers before. Especially, beware of thin and weak "Liner-Locks" (they wear out fast) and poorly designed "Lock-Backs" (they wear out fast, too)... Even well made "Frame-Locks" will wear out fast if you flick them too much... Often, the more expensive Knife Manufactures use great blade steels, but have weak lock designs; beware... Stiletto :)

    I Like the Tri-ad version but LOVE the Ultra Lock version. I see why CS made the switch (and the new one is awesome) but I still prefer the bulkier design of the former.

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      I like Cold Steel Folders. The Tri-Ads are my favorites (I like my "Digits")... The "Ultra-Lock," that's the name for Cold Steels Version of the Benchmade Axis-Lock. Thanks for the info on that one. I could not remember what the name was... :) But, yes, this lock works great. Though, I like the Tri-Ads better... I also like the Liner-Lock that Cold Steel used to use on their knives. The only one left is the Ti-Lite, though... And, I love that knife and it's one of my all time favorites from Cold Steel, though, they do wear out after a while... But, I would like to get my hands on an XL Counter Point, if they ever release that one... I think all of us Cold Steel Fans have our own personal favorites; I cannot say there is just one that I like the best. But, the One's that I have carried the most, and used the most, are the Ti-Lite VI (SD Self-Defense), Large & XL Voyager Tantos (SD), Counter Point 1 (SD), Rajah III (Great Utility Knife & SD), both Tuff-Lite's (Great Little Utility Cutters), Large & XL Tanto Recon 1's (SD), & Large & XL Talwar's (SD & Hunting & Fishing)... These are my EDC (Every Day Carry) favorites. I have given all of mine a chance, but these are the One's that I use the most. I've found that I don't care for the Models with the Aluminum and Stainless Steel Scales or Handles (because of the lack of grip). I prefer the G-10 & Grivory/Zytel Models to those; but, that's just my personal preference, I know everyone has their own... They are all great folders for the price and you can't beat the safety of the Tri-Ad Lock at any price... To me, that's more important than having the best steel or even having a knife that's "Made in the USA..." Though, it would be nice to see some USA Models, too, like my USA Made Cold Steel Arc-Angels... And, the Voyager Line is "King" when it comes to value, in my book... Though, remember these are just my thoughts and opinions; I respect everyone's choices, when it comes to knives. It's a personal choice and preference that really matters when it comes to what you want or need your EDC or SOB (Special Occasion Blade) Knife for... Enjoy your's, Stiletto :)

    Nice collection of Ti-Lites. I love the Ti-Lite VI. I have the original release Ti-Lite VI from many years ago and I've carried it quite a bit. It's definitely a classic design with deadly defense potential. A friend of mine got into using Cerakote to coat things and I had him coat the blade,liners, and hardware a dark bronze color. It came out pretty nice. I love my Ti-Lite VI even more now.

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      Very cool. I'd like to see yours... I think they would be real nice with a black coating on all of the hardware, liners, and pocket clip with a highly mirror polished blade... The only thing that I don't like, about the one's that I have, is the shiny pocket clips; they attract too much attention, in my opinion... I agree with you; this will be a "Classic" Design... If they ever stop making these, they will become very expensive to get, I think. Ti-Lite VI's are the best Stiletto's that I have ever owned... But, that's just my opinion... Stiletto :)

      Kriss Stiletto thanks for the video, it just makes me want a ti-lite that much more. If I were to get one it would definitely be one of the aluminiums, in your opinion is the 6in worth the extra money? The site ive been fueling my addiction from sells the aluminium 6 for $98, how much did you pick yours up for thanks from a fellow cold steel fan-addict

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      Jamalma Zahoe I bought mine when they first came out. The most I've paid for a Zytel Ti-Lite VI (my favorite Ti-Lite VI) is around $35.00 or so, new, in a eBay Auction. The Aluminum one that I have was $65.00 when it was new. I've noticed that the "Street" price has gone up for these... I don't really care for the 9" Version of these; it's too small for a Stiletto, to me... I wish Cold Steel would make these in an 11" size; that's my favorite Stiletto Size... I get most of my Knives through Online Auctions... I also, get them from Online Stores when they are on sale or being cleared out to make room for new Models... I'm the type that likes to get good deals on the items that I'm interested in... That makes it fun to me... You just have to be patient and ready to make a purchase when a good deal comes up.. :) "Keep on Collecting!" Peace, Stiletto :)

      Thanks Bro, though, I don't have any new one's... I haven't bought any since I bought my Bear's in the early 2000's; those were the last one's that I bought. If the powers that be ever legalize them, here in Cali, I'll go back to carrying these again. But, were I live, it's a "Felony" to carry Butterfly's or Switchblade's... That's why I'm into Cold Steel's, now... Stiletto :)

    • @KrissStiletto13
      @KrissStiletto13 Před 10 lety

      Hi, I used to carry some of these when I was much younger. I have not purchased, carried, or used any of these since the late 1990's and early 2000's... These are all out of Production, except for maybe some of the Bear Butterfly's. But, as you can tell, at one point, in my youth, I was into carrying these and using them for Self-Defense and as EDC Knives, until I had a run in with the Law, during an accident on my old HD. Since, then, I have not carried these types of knives... I was never into doing fancy tricks, just being able to open and close them quickly, when needed, for Self-Defense and EDC purposes... All of my knives are very sharp and will cut you very badly if you make a mistake with them... They are Fighters, not Toys or for Show... Now, they are just part of my Collection; and, part of my previous life... Most of them have never been used or carried and have the original factory edges and are in mint condition. Out of all of them, I've only carried about ten of them, and those are about six of the Benchmade's and a few of the others, that I carried prior to getting into Benchmade's... My advice to you, if you want to get into this as a "Hobby," is to purchase a very good quality Bali-Song; don't get a "Knock-Off" or cheaply made Butterfly Knife. They are a waist of money and can break and hurt you or somebody that's watching you... Benchmade's are very good Bali-Songs for doing Tricks, EDC, and Self-Defense. And, are fairly common and easy to find. They were my personal favorites back in the day... I like the Benchmades with the Titanium Handles and Tanto Blades the best. Stainless Steel and Brass Handles tend to be too heavy. Aluminum is a good handle material, too, if it's a high quality Heat Treated Aluminum like 6061. Beware of the cheap Chinese Butterfly Knives. They tend to be "Dangerous Junk Knives," that will fall apart and can injure you. Be prepared to get cut, if you start off with a real good defensive Butterfly... It might be better to purchase a good quality Trainer... And, Dagger Butterfly's are for more advanced users, because they have a double edge... You want to have a safe side of the blade if you are just starting out... That's my advice for you... Here's some CZcams Links for you: Balisong Instructional - Fast Draw Balisong Instructional : Twirl Balisong Instructional : basic backhand twirl Balisongs : Quality VS Crap Knife Review : Benchmade model 42 Balisong (BM42) I hope this helps...
