    It’s my experience that most rounds tend to overshoot their normal (calibrated organic gel) depths in clear synthetic gel. On average it comes out to about 1.5 inches with most JHPs and 2-4 inches with FMJs. I don’t know which would be more analogous(if either) to the weird “X” tip of the Lehigh bullet but I suspect that 19.5 inches is still acceptable, if either hollows or ball ammo are anything to go on. The synthetic stuff is less temperature sensitive but it seems to be more slippery or something.

    You know you keep calling it a cheap Chinese product, yet you bash the shit out of it and it still works, and you continue to call it a cheap Chinese product, I think you’re being an ass, it’s a very reasonably priced red dot of pretty darn good quality I would say, there are a lot of higher priced ones out there that wouldn’t have held up to the abuse you put this one through, you keep whining about it and you kind of piss me off! I’m going to actually buy one of these because you proved to me it’s a pretty darn good red dot!, $89 through Amazon, I’m going to put it on my Tisas B9R double stack 1911, which I’m sure you would probably call a cheap Turkish product!😂

    People, he has his reasons. For some, 19.5 inches is excessive just on the notion that 18 is already at the extreme end. Could he easily use this ammo in a micro 9 and get favorable results? Sure he could, but it’s just as easy for him to use the 90 grain in his Glock 45 for equal results.

    This guy really loves and depends on the fbi bilistics in all he's saying it performed well with slight over penetration that would barely wound anyone else. @CHAOSTACTICAL I depend on a great many things. My girlfriend, my family. My Silverado and my job, my anime waifu pillow to keep me safe while I sleep. However, I don't think I'd say I depend on the FBI ballistics standards. They're simply the metric I use for my testing. As for this load overpenetrating, I'd prefer too much over not enough. However, I don't see the point of using a load that doesn't fit in the standard I want, when the exact same company offers other loads that do.

    • @TheKalkara131
      @TheKalkara131 Před 7 dny

      @@wmski88 obviously, I don't know the real reasons the FBI scientists and doctors chose that number. Some reasons I've heard before are because you can't control the situations around your threat. He might present you with a nice, perfect frontal shot. But your bullet might also have to go up and through an arm if he's pointing a weapon at you. Could be angled to the side, could be winter and he's wearing a lot of layers. You can't control any of it, and if your chosen load doesn't penetrate deep enough, you may be in trouble. You can't control what state of mind he may be in, on drugs, full of adrenaline, drunk, psychotic, etc. He may not care that you have a gun, that you shot him. He may not be feeling pain at all, so you have to penetrate deep enough to hit vital organs. There's also the fact that penetration in ballistics gel 1:1 with penetration in a human body. Gel is all one material, the human body is heterogeneous. It's made up of fat, muscle, tendon, bone, tissues with various resilience. 14" in gel, doesn't necessarily equate to 14" in a human body.

    There needs to be more publicized tests on flesh instead of gel for the lehigh bullets. Until then, the underwood ammo lehigh load main perk is energy, penetration, and barrier blindness. Actual wound cavity in flesh is questionable, but that was always something that wasnt much of a priorty to me in handgun calibers as it only matters several seconds/minutes after i want to hit the offenders off button the moment the trigger is pulled. You either hit something important enough to stop the fight, or you dont.

    It might be interesting for you to check out load development and terminal ballistics in the same medium with the same parameters... using the 'extreme penetrator' projectiles, given that they have considerably more robust flutes and have resisted deformation to a much greater degree than the 'defender' in my testing! Also, was there any overlap of penetration channels in the clear ballistics gel... that might have skewed the results given the number of rounds fired into that medium? Overall, you did a very good job with this!

    For a defensive round I am pretty sure you want the round bleeding energy right away which theae all did extremely well. i am not overly concerned about over penetration, but i am concerned about ice picking straight thru like happened alot in irac and Afghanistan. Mainly because the indigenous people were not very thick and the green tip round takes so long to start tumbling or yawing. As for the temporary cavity you should have watched the videos before you spoke about them. All the rounds looked as violent as any 5.56 i can ever remember seeing. Since you were reusing the same gel for each round it became impossible for you or us to tell the damage once the video stopped. Just a small suggestion, maybe nwxt rime switch the gels around halfway through and you will have have as many shots in each, vs all on the one block, like in theae tests. Or not. Anyway you still did a good job and pretty informative.

    I bought a bunch of KCI G19 mags back in 2019. They are failing now (Wont hold open a G19, or AM9 AR 9mm). I bought them because they looked quality. I took them apart, I see the spring is tiny in comparison to the PMag and (9 coils vs 11) and slightly thinner spring wire in comparison to the Glock mags. I recently bought a boat load of heavy springs for cheap and bought more KCI G19 mags. The newer KCI mags had much heavier springs, like Glock. So they did appear to improve the mags. I also bought a bunch of KCI AR mags, those all failed. All of the followers were 2mm shorter in comparison to all other followers I mic'd. All of the AR mags never held the bolt open during firing, just during function tests. I replaced all of those followers and they run like a champ.
