Fonterra Brightwater reduces emissions through coal boiler conversion

EECA has helped Fonterra on it's journey to lower emissions by co-funding the conversion of the Brightwater milk processing plant boiler to co-fire on coal and wood, generating steam for process heat. Converting the boiler to co-fire on coal and wood biomass cuts carbon emissions by an estimated 2,400 tonnes a year - the equivalent of taking 530 cars off the road.

Climate Leaders Coalition have collaborated with EECA, Fonterra and Azwood to produce this video about Fonterra’s successful boiler conversion to co-fire on both coal and wood biomass. This conversion will save an anticipated 25% of the boiler emissions, the equivalent carbon savings of taking 530 cars off the road permanently.

Nice webinar! I work in oil and gas industry where I deal with air cooled heat exchangers. These exchangers are fitted with axial fans. Is there any reason why these exchangers are fitted with axial fans. Will there be any benefit if we fit such exchangers with centrifugal fans?
