I suspect you're going to find the ants will have moved into the planting beds when you go to treat around the beds. Edit: Are praying mantises considered invasive? If not you might beable to pick up a egg cluster from a garden store and just let them hatch in your garden. The ones that don't get eaten by the chickens should help keep down the bugs, other than the ants, a fair bit.

2:01 In case you didn't know, honeyberries are as good or better than blueberries both taste-wise and health-wise, but they don't require acidic soil. I have alkaline soil and have the same issue, my blueberries died but the honeyberries keep going. Besides they yield fruit much earlier which is also great (for me).

If I didn't go to Vegas this year I would have been able to do my garden this year. I have 4 volunteer lettuce growing outside my 1 bed (2 buttercrisp, 1 green leaf lettuce and 1 arugula) I also have 1 volunteer tomatoe plant also growing outside of the bed. I have about 4 tomatoes growing from last year I'm guessing and my chives have grown since last year. This year has been warm since April. Usually we have a mild April and May here in Northern Ohio (just south of Cleveland) so the planting would have benefited being planted mid April instead of Memorial Day Weekend. Enjoying the content and can't wait to see your harvest this year! Also my blackberries have been growing like weeds so hopefully I have a bountiful harvest this year! Went from 1 blackberry and 1 raspberry to 1 raspberry and like 7 blackberries

I was thinking the crinkle leaves could be calcium deficiency... doesn't mean there isn't enough in the soil just that the plant wasn't absorbing it properly. I dry my egg shells in the oven and sprinkle them on the soil helps with slugs too.

Not sure where you are located, but mine here in Oklahoma did that same thing. I purchased my pepper plants from a big box store, and their leaves wrinkled up just like that. The whole plant looked pathetic. I used some water soluable fertilizer on them and they immediately dropped their leaves. I thought they were toast, but they are sprouting new, healthy leaves, so I will just leave them be for a bit to see what happens. My jalepenoes set fruit and are doing great. My bells are still looking seriously sad, but getting better.

Strawberries and asparagus are good companion plants, so once your strawberries grow and have runners put them in with asparagus too. Good ground cover for them.

There may have been a house fire at some point in the past. 50 years ago, if a house burned down, they could dig a pit and push the majority of the non-salvageable bits in and cover it up like it never happened.
