"Nederlands in zeven lessen" van Charles Huguenot van der Linden uit 1948. Niemand minder dan een dan nog piepjonge Audrey Hepburn speelt in die film een bijrolletje als stewardess! Kijkt omhoog in de camera, stelt zich voor als stewardess bij de KLM, showt haar uniform staande bij een vliegtug en begeleidt beelden van de herbouw van Schiphol (noot 2) waar de hangar van Fokker nog in camouflage...

A shame that Fokker went under in 1996, if the company was saved I reckon they would have made more of this magnificent aircraft. 213 were produced, and only around 80 are in service left. Australia was a strong hold for Fokker 50 for many years with Skywest when its former parent Ansett introduced them to its fleet and Alliance Airlines. When Ansett folded in 2001 Skywest survived and continued to operate these aircraft, Virgin Australia purchased the company and about a year later retired and sold all 8 F-50's, Alliance would retire its F-50 about 5 years later. Turbo Prop is a dying breed now, its all jet these day unfortunately.

Plus one, generate ground-effect(with proper-release of ground-effect) during high-speed taxi. Apply to v1(speed) to get rotated and revise stall-speed and revise v1 and revise rotate. For landing, avoid using flare and only use ground-effect for auto-bad-weather balancing(escaping ground-effect versus ground-effect, cross-winds wings unbalanced to auto aerodynamic rebalance)
If johor-malaysia ever start to rot and have pestilence, ensure smoke guard-band(from both sides) and fire-heat inferno band(draw-air-in and sterilise and soot-carbon neutralise and push up). Upgrade radar and other capabilities to include artillery counter-battery(size of shells detection, multiple target tracking) radar(feed picture-frames skewed to stationary).

The aircraft shown in the video flew with KLM from 1971 to 1989. It then flew with America West Airlines and was scrapped in 1996. 25 years of service, not bad to be honest.

The twin turbo prop Friendship was much louder than the quad turbo prop Vickers Viscount. Loved the huge windows in the Friendship.

If you consider all this happened just 40 years after the Wright brothers flew and only another twenty years landing on the moon the industrial revolution was indeed astounding. Although it might be the cause of humans extinction event in the near future, what a ride huh?
Yes. Not many people realize this fact. It is actually less than 40 years; amazing.
Fokker is een van de mooiste bedrijven in de NL geschiedenis. Kuilman en Nederkoorn waren de grootste mislukkelingen die Fokker hebben leeggerooft en naar de ondergang hebben gebracht. Ze hadden geen verbinding met het bedrijf, de producten en de medewerkers. Nederkoorn deed het mooi voorkomen, echter deelde zichzelf een onderhandse 'bonus' van ruim 20 miljoen toe door Fokker te verpatsen aan Daimler. Hij werd daarna de baas van een ander bedrijf...wat ook niet zo goed afliep voor de medewerkers. Triest dat mooie bedrijven ten onder gaan aan dit soort interim managers.

Net zoals Heeren in de comment hieronder al had gezegt. Ik vind het belachenlijk dat Nederland dit laat gebeuren. Als Boeing falliet zou gaan zouden ze ook financieel steun krijgen van de Amerikaanse overheid. Fokker was het begin van luchtvaart in Nederland. Maar helaas. Niks kan meer terug gedraait worden.

As an ex DCA Flight Service Officer, serving in Perth / Port Hedland and Kununurra I got to know these aircraft and their remarkable performance on many different runways and weather conditions. These trials at Bacchus Marsh were put to the test in July 1971 when VH-FKC landed at Fitzroy Crossing. Maybe Fokker new something??
