Any tips on growing in a greenhouse for zone 7a? Noobie here to the greenhouse world.

ok so my sun is never strong enough to do this apparently. Thought this was about the leafs bending in random directions. Thats what i´m noticing, some leafs bend down at their stems, some upwards, the leafs are sometimes shaped like spoons either up oder downwards konkave :/ it makes the plant look jagged but does not seem to affect the fruits

I mulched my beds in the fall with a few bales. Come spring, the beds were covered in wheat . Not too much of a problem, it pulls up easily and toss in the compost. or use it for more mulch during the growing season. It also kept a lot of the annual weeds from growing. I let a patch grow and harvested the seeds to see what it takes to make flour.

My garden is south facing but directly next to a row of tall trees on its west side. It gets full sun until about 3:00, when the sun moves behind the tree row, every plant in my garden seems to grow best in this condition

So what causes them to curl UPWARDS?

Completely valid explanation for leaf curl but here in the UK, particularly in Scotland where I am, there is much much less sun and way lower temp than you. My outside tomato leaves still curl but that is usually because they are stressed from low temps and high winds.

This is what is happening to my tomato plants.

@MG thanks for this vid. Newish gardener zone 8a, my tomato plants in 5 gal bucket full sun curling, 🍅plants in ground 5 ft away are not. Just invested in shade cloth. 😉💎🌱

I live in Soutj Texas temps get above 100 it's gotten to 117 here! My leaves curled. I thought it needed water, but now I know.. 😅

The algorithm did well this time. My leaves were curling and this was on my front page.

Dunno about this. We're in Ireland and have had the worst summer so far. Hardly any sunny days but still the plants curled up....

That's why I grow organic you put organic nutrients in the soil and the plant knows And takes up what it wants

I guess white shade close is more effective as it reflect sun light more effectivly.

Highly toxic and dangerous to use commercial fertilizer, far better to use men’s urine, seaweed, human poo and compost made from kitchen veg scraps

Mine are in semi shade UK 🇬🇧 they do this when soil dry .

I’m definitely getting the tarp for my 100 gallon grow bags. For my 1 gal grow bags for my herbs in my porch I use a potting soil plastic bag turned inside out.

How many % have to be the shade cloth? ive heard that they have to be 40% shade but my father already bough 70% shade. We are arguing right now cuz i thing 70% is too much

So I learned how bad colored mulch was years ago and I’ve been trying to research how much of it I should remove out of the flowerbeds in order to plant an edible garden. I just moved into a house and these people use tons of black mulch everywhere. Lined with plastic of course. It’s driving me crazy. I removed about a foot of it, but it still looks like there’s more that’s partially decomposed underneath that. How much should I remove in order to safely grow in organic garden? I can’t seem to find this information anywhere.

I just put upside down beer bottles in all my containers, at the start of garden season this year, via terracotta watering spikes. I haven’t talked about it or recommend it to anyone yet because I wanted to really see if it helped. It does. I can now say I’ll use this technique from now on. Cheaper than an Oya. I started with ten and now have 30😂
