I finally took the plunge and got an Old Town Autopilot 120 and decided to take it down to the Chesapeake Bay for her maiden voyage. This boat has great potential and its ability to spot lock in deep water and current let me finally land my first kayak Cobia! This fish has been a dream for many years and it was almost surreal to finally see one on the end of my line.

Busting Bass in the Raritan Bay

This was my first day out in the Raritan this Spring and it was full of action on jigs and big rubber. Schoolies dominated the day but at dusk some bigger fish came out to chew on 12" sluggos. As always I'm fishing from my 2020 Old Town Predator PDL and using a mix of Shimano reels on St. Croix and Shimano rods.

Early Spring Jersey Stripers

This was March 15 before the serious lockdowns were in place. Snuck out for an early shot at schoolies and found them feeding on warm, shallow flats. All fish were caught on 5" and 7" EliasV shads. It was a fun day to be out there before the huge crowds.

I went up to Martha's Vineyard for a week this fall to fish the derby. Overall, fishing was the worst I've ever seen it. Jersey Surf Launch Flounder Slay!

This was another great summer surf launch in New Jersey. We found some nearshore structure and caught endless flounder on Spro bucktail jigs with 6" Gulp grubs. Later in the day, we found some Spanish Mackerel and some seabass to round out the harvest.

Big Maine Smallmouth on Topwater!

It took a few days, but I finally was able to figure out where some of the bigger smallies lived and was lucky to have great topwater conditions for most of the morning. I started out with a 4 lber on a spook on my second cast and found a couple nice piles of fish throughout the morning on topwater and dropshot.

I was trying to find the bigger fish in this lake and decided to throw a dropshot rig. I hooked 2 really nice fish almost right away, but both use the nearby boulders to their advantage and broke me right off. any tips on where to launch from?
you should bleed the fish you keep instead of letting them suffocate. Makes them taste fresher because the blood isn’t tainted with stress hormones and the filets last much longer.

Very surreal watching this. I remember that very same week and feeling like I was a criminal "sneaking" across state lines past big blinking traffic signs saying that state borders were closed... all with a kayak strapped to my roof or towed behind me. What a bunch of BS.
Hey just found you and I'm subbed now. Had my 120 for over 2 years now and I can't tell you how happy I am with OldTown and their Customer Service. They absolutely stand behind their 2 year warranty on the Motor. The kayak holds up great too.
Got a 72 lb at willow beach on Saturday. That was 63 inches it didn't fit into the boat. Well barely. Will let her go she was fat as hell Colorado River Willow Beach just outside of Las Vegas on the Arizona side. That's amazing a 20 pounder is huge for this area. What A Catch

Nice video. I noticed the spot-lock got a bit wonkey near the ship. I have noticed mine does something similar under metal bridges. I wonder if large metal structures interfere with the auto pilot GPS a bit?

New subscriber here. I have a question concerning the electronics rigging on your kayak. How did you run the wiring for your fish finder? I do not see any wiring going to it, essentially it looks super clean! I have a fish finder I'm looking to rig up but do not know the best way to rig the cabling for it.
