Middle Earth Express posts 3 Tolkien inspired video shorts a week, and one full length video covering lore from The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. I strive to find interesting and obscure Middle Earth history and present it in a simple and concise way. I've been a Lord of the Rings fan for as long as I can remember and I'm excited to start this channel!
Badger-folk - Middle Earth's Most Secretive Creatures #lotr #middleearth #tolkien
The Badger-Folk are a very mysterious and barely talked about race in Middle Earth. They are covered in Tolkien’s, The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, in one of the many poems.

I wonder what color my twisted sorcery would taint a place….

Or maybe we haven’t a clue and aren’t meant to. I rather like that we don’t know.
Well he came back as Gandalf, had a bath & some clean robes & voila! 😊
"Say it! You raped her! Killed her! Murdered her children!" *squish*
The seat of seeing…. Coolest name ever for a lookout. Want to learn more about that!
Dude was so tired of his teammates he demanded the 1v1
I love the fact that Huan saved his final chance at speaking for a good-bye to Beren and Luthien. He could have used his third chance to speak earlier on, advice to Beren and Luthien or delivering a portentous warning to their enemies. But instead, he saved his final chance at speech for a few simple, intimate words to the people he loved most. We don't even know what he said, and that's as it should be.
Knowing that they were isildur and his brother was never really interesting to me. Making the realization that the pillars are abandoned border lines that stand as ruins and symbolify the wane of the age of men...holy crap, ive never made that connection
Yeah, the statues faces and features having been eroded to a point of being nearly unrecognizable is also a cool way to show the decline of Gondor
Ironic that Isildur thinks that he, of all people should be seen as somebody to be admired for vigilance when you can distantly equate to him being the reason that thousands upon thousands have died
The Argonath were built long after Isildur died; it says right in the clip they were commissioned by Romendacil ii
It also wasn’t really Isildur’s fault. Nobody outside of someone like Tom Bombadil, could resist the call of the one ring forever.
I thoroughly enjoy learning about LOTR lore. Thank you! Keep up the content!
I really appreciate that! Stay tuned for more… Middle Earth is a seemingly endless source of interesting stories and lore
Middle Earth’s goodest boy
Badass character and my favorite one 👊🏿😎
It’s a good choice for sure
Officially, Faramir was the last Ruling Steward, for the short while between Denethor's death and Elessar's ascendance
Good call! I should have specified in the video, I was trying to keep it focused on Denethor but I appreciate you clarifying here for people
@@MiddleEarthExpress No problem, I'm glad it came across positively like I meant it to 👍
Imagine the amount of foolhardy bravado that leads to thinking you can ride to Minas Morgul and beat the Witch-King in a duel.
That’s a wild story I want to research further so see what people think happened
I am also thinking that there must’ve been more to it than is reported in this short video
Watchers of Mordor I always believed are the Sauron's failed attempts at trying to recreate the Palentir, instead of being able to perfectly view distances from far away it can only do the opposite and see all things within a certain area. The "Watching" Effect is actually the activation noise that triggers whenever an unknown /unaccepted individual is in the area, as due to being created by Sauron, they are directly connected to him.
Ooo I like this theory as well.. kind of like the fantasy version of those scanners on your way out of stores to make sure you aren’t stealing haha
@@MiddleEarthExpress Exactly 😂
lol let’s play a game, we’ll hurl rocks at each other for fun!
It’s a good game you should try it!
Why didn't Sauron recruit the mountain giants?
they probably had no interest in his war
Pretty sure they'd just hurl rocks at him if he tried
Possibly they just weren’t interested in communicating with him or participating and the risk of being squashed or killed outweighed the benefit to Sauron
Batred vbnmvcre.
Wos 1.
Ookkkk oohhhhhh ooooohhh ooooooh oooooh oohhhh.
Yea!
Remember kids, “The Sea is always Right!”
Caves of the forgotten = vibes
Idk they look like they were clearly vased in the Mongols
Very well could be, the discussions I’ve seen have been about the inland Vikings I mentioned but definitely the name Khand illicit comparisons to Genghis KHAN and the Mongols
You don’t think they were based on the Kahns?
Could be! The discussions I’ve seen in the fandom relate them to the Varangians but i see the comparison there
Huan is the strongest because of latino work ethic
Lmao, true
No freaking way are they the blue wizards
Heh heh hehhh…
Tom Bombadil the true GOAT
Facts
Middle Earth got Narnia'd
Him and cs Lewis were friends!
@@MiddleEarthExpress ikr
Funny how yall think this actually scientifically explains reality
yeah
What are you talking about??? Talk sense or be quiet kid.
I have a custom amigurumi of one of Huan’s female relatives.
thats awesome, did you make it?
What happens to the balrog’s undying spirit? Being it’s a Maia as well
you can only really speculate about this because Tolkien never gave a definitive answer even for non corrupted Maia but the Balrog would likely lose a significant amount of its power and ability to influence the physical world. A being as powerful as Sauron was still able to cling to the physical world after death and eventually able to construct a new "body" for himself but I'm not sure a Balrog would be able to do the same...
This sounds like a good start for a redemption story.
There's a lot of possibilites. He may have been a very powerful black numenorian warrior and / or sorceror, or may have even been of regal and royal blood; Perhaps a Numenorian prince, or even Tar-Ciryatan or Tar-Antanamir. These were two kings who ruled numenor in the centuries immediately before the Nazgul first appeared. We do know that Tar Ciryatan fought and defeated the forces of the dark lord, before he became king. Whether he ever encountered the Dark lord himself is anyone's guess. Not particularly likely, but not impossible.
It always amazes me how deep the lore goes, thanks for sharing your thought!
I believe Sam and Frodo did reunite and lived out their days until their passing
This is my preferred ending for them as well
Dragons and werewolves and vampires! Oh my!
And goblins and orcs and trolls and
Great job with the story telling vibe on this one. Makes it so engaging!
More to come!
This is inspired by the book The Night Land that inspired both Tolkien and Lovecraft in all his writings.
Definitely gotta check that out, thanks for the info!
Based on a true story. In the excluded books of the Bible written by Einstein.
Sounds really interesting! can you elaborate?
Love the artwork. Can i ask the artist?
Most of the artwork is by different artists, a lot of it is specifically made to match moments in Tolkien’s stories but some are more generic that I have found to match the visual I was looking for. Is there a particular piece you would like the artists name from?
@@MiddleEarthExpress The gates of Angband were epic. I'll choose that one. It seemed like most of the ones in this short are pretty similar style so I didn't know if a majority of them were done, maybe by Rembrandt.
So the best I can find on that particular piece was that it was uploaded to The One Wiki to Rule Them All by user DishonoredGod. But I reverse image searched it and it’s also for sale on Wallpapers by a user named laxman… this isn’t particularly helpful sorry. But for example, the first image in the video is called “The War of Wrath” by Firat Solhan
@@MiddleEarthExpress I appreciate the attempt. Love the artwork your finding for your videos tho!!
How often are we corrupted by thoughts and visions of power and never escape to become as great a person as we could. There are so many layers from this book, humanity the Bible and Christendom. Such an interesting web of story telling
Just wanted to add Draugluin was made by Morgoth trough breeding wolves & imbue them with a spirit For the rest nice video
Thanks for the clarification!
I’d be curious to know how long a period of time it was between Earendil setting out to find Valinor and his return to face the dragon.
Okay so from what I can gather he reached Valinor in 536-542 about, and Morgoth was defeated in 587, sooooo it took a couple of years to convince the Valar and plan out the attack strategy
I would theorize that they value gold for two reasons 1. That it’s the bane of all evil, dragons are unfortunately generally not the best guys around and 2. To smite the other beings of middle earth, they are all about power and demonstration of, they know it has to drive people crazy that they have all that gold and no one can touch it or do anything about it
AI generated voice...
Yep! Didn’t want to use my voice, I think this nice British fellow works better for Tolkien lore but I am the one who researched, wrote and edited the video
And...
@@MiddleEarthExpress Well if you want me to watch your videos you have to use your real voice. AI voices suck...
@@MotherFucker1984 And it sucks. Why would i watch something when i cant even hear a real person talking? I can either A. watch this video or B. watch another video where a real person makes a real effort to communicate. Do you think that choice is a hard one?
Seems ok to me. To each their own.
Just subbed! Love the short form videos
Plenty more to come! Thanks for subscribing, welcome!
He is a character Amazon will destroy.
You are probably 100% right about that
yes
Was he a good boy thou?
The goodest
So tolkien was a flat earther🧐
Indeed.. but then one day, he changed his mind haha
My theory is that the Silent Watchers are bewitched statues containing the tormented souls of two of Sauron’s former enemies from long, long ago. So long in fact, that their true names are no longer remembered.
