What do you want to be when you grow up? It's the age-old question most of us were asked when we were little. Sometimes a childhood dream job becomes a reality. And sometimes, there's a pivot or sacrifice made along the way that leads to a career path different than imagined. Life's twists and turns allow the Pearsons (and us) to discover new passions and gifts and use them professionally. So, ...

Life is full of color, and we each get to add our own color to the painting of life. Even in death, we’ve still left our mark. We’re still a part of the painting. Kevin Pearson illustrates the beauty of this message, which also serves as the meaning behind what “That Is Us” is all about. As Kevin said, “There’s no you or me or them. It’s just us.” Come be a part of our painting and join us in c...

Ep. 5: Misery | “The Pool” (S1E4)
zhlédnutí 17KPřed 14 dny
Jack, Rebecca, and The Big Three are off to the pool, which sounds fun, but in actuality feels a bit like Rebecca’s book: Misery. Randall and Kevin fight with each other, Kevin fights for attention, and Kate opts not to fight her bullies. Kevin miserably auditions for his first Broadway play, Toby bumps into his ex-wife, and William is mistaken as a loiterer. There are a lot of dynamics at play...

This Is Us... with a Special Announcement
To me sad isn’t the right word, emotional is a better fit. Sadness is there but so is joy pride happiness love.
I dont mean to sound negative here, but has anyone else noticed so far that they haven't said much about Chrissy Metz? Usually they'll mention a character and then praise the actor with some form of anecdote but I haven't heard one about Kate yet. Maybe I'm wrong & they have as I'm only on episode 5 atm but was just curious to see if anyone has noticed it? Also, I bloody love this podcast!!
I love how often Sterling cracks up at small details. He pays attention to the little things and has so much fun with life. That’s what it’s all about! ❤️
I watched the. whole thing in 5 days. I watched on Netflix wow. I plan to watch again. So powerful and touching. Thanks.
I don't thing the success of the show had anything to do with the political situation at the time. It's just that the writing was amazing and refreshing. In the midst of all these sci-fi, anti hero etc shows we had a show that was about family and interpersonal relationships and was just so relatable. The characters were flawed without being anti heroes. And the idea of going backwards and then forward made it so interesting. And yes it made me laugh (i loved Randall's family and their good vibes the most) as much as it made me cry.
That Was Us podcast captures the essence of This Is Us - so many incredible deep meaningful conversations but also filled with moments that make you laugh so hard 🤣 Little Lonnie scenes break our hearts every time😭 You can see the inner child of Kevin Pearson in Justin's performance, so incredible
All the actors who are playing the younger and older versions of each other are so phenomenal! The mannerisms they pick up on and voice inflections that stay consistent regardless of which actor is playing the character... chef's kiss! I'm so impressed with how well they do at that - especially the kids, who presumably have the least experience on the job.
You all need to be in another series ❤
When we came home from the hospital with our new baby boy this May, I started watching the show all over again. Needless to say, the emotions were on another level this time around. Cant wait to watch it with him one day. ❤
I couldn’t agree more with the casting making viewers feel as if the show has always been. That was such a great way to put it. ❤️
I hope to see the actor who plays Miguel in that podcast ❤
Jon Huertas brought so much to his role as Miguel. ❤️
Facts!
I love hearing about Mandy's experience with playing all the different ages of Rebecca. My new favorite actor since watching the show!
I've seen the entire series. The words I would use are beautiful and heartwarming
Lol every time Sterling says Amanda Leigh Moore
I miss the show!! 😢
Didnt know this was a thing. Subscribed! "This is us" is still my favourite series
Great actors. I hated the character of Toby though.
Re watching a TIU just crying and laughing... The first time i watched it was so overwhelming all i did was cry every episode.. Maybe my heart is little healed tgis time around .
I watched every episode. I look at it as a celebration of life. The good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful, the enlightening, the humorous, the thought provoking, and very very real.
How is this the first time I'm hearing there is a podcast for one of my favorite TV Shows!!!!!????
I love this podcasts! You guys have such thoughtful, intelligent and humorous remarks. It brings my attention to details I missed when I first watched the show. Keep going, guys! xoxo from a brazilian viewer/listener
Trying not to CRY
I love this show for so many reasons but the people the show has touched is a testament to it’s beauty. From the writing to the acting to the themes about humanity and the frailty of the human condition, everything about it is absolutely gorgeous. ❤❤❤
when William brought up the painting on the train with Bec i cried so hard i almost threw up lol
He said that all to say kids are people
Exactly🤣🤣🤣
He said all that to say that children are much more perceptive than we think. they are capable of making complex deductions from small details. As adults we often forget that doesn't require experience
@@maxcenevilthis must be what he means by deciphering 😂
He said all that because he's recapping the scene since it's literally a recap podcast.
He's referencing an episode of the show at first.
Please talk about the picture that Kevin told his niece's about !!
Love this. All the episodes please!!
Im saying its about be...honest
I would describe the show as Brutiful
I love the three of you rewatching and sharing but can you explaing to us how it came about and how it s the three of you? Hugs C
STERLING is such a wordsmith!
Would love to hear more about behind the scenes/bloopers etc as well as recapping the episode
Uhhh i needed that
Because of this podcast I decided to rewatch the show. I had never saw an episode more than once. My husband knows the basics of the show, but never sat down and watched it with me. We are now watching it together. I love this show. He loves it as much as I do.
I laughed so much here. Great episode. Couldn’t stop binge watching. On season 3 currently 🙈
I want to hear more inside the show rather then a recap throughout the podcast. I want a behind the scenes during a shoot. I want to hear less about their personal stories and more show related stuff
Thank you for this podcast❤ I can't begin to express how much I'm enjoying it.. It feels like having more episodes from my favourite show and it makes me soooo happy to learn about the insides of the show creating process.. I'd love ti see at some point any of the other members, I love them aaaaaaalll.
Just found this! Literally watching this is use for the 3rd time 😂😩
I enjoyed the first four episodes a lot…But it was this one that elevated it for me. Kevin’s painting explanation scene is when I first felt “Oh, this show is something special”, in the best of ways. And it only got better from there!
Since 2016, This is Us had been the only emmy best drama nominated show that wasn’t rated R. It was the only show where there was no violence, profanity, nudity. It was about life as it is. So perfect.
I just finished the whole series 😮 WOW
I just rewatched the series and skipped Randall's performance because i remembered being embarrassed for him but after this I went ba k to watch it and omg it's hilarious. Beth is the best haha

I am on the last episode right now and I don’t want to finish it 😭😭😭 this show has been so beautiful even after watching it twice. The way it changed how I parent, the wife I am and just opening my eyes to viewing how others can feel about something. Dan and you all did such an amazing job!!!
I just recently watched This is Us, and I found it beautiful. It encompassed life in so many ways, and as the final show ended, I thought to myself, yes, this is us- this is life. Thank you for this podcast. It's a joy watching and listening.
To Chris’ point… I NEVER described “This Is Us” as sad. It is beautiful. It so accurately depicts the ups and downs of life and what it means to be HUMAN. Ugh. I’m rewatching with you guys and yes, I cry every episode. But I’m not sad. (Except when Jack actually died… I needed to take a break after those episodes to heal 😂)
This is the best series of all times.. I always recommend it as a therapy serie... of course there are sad moments, but also lot of joy, reflection and we can relate to all the characters in different situations.. I cried my eyes out in almost all episodes?! Yes, I did .. but happy/reflections tears.. And this pod is doing same thing now 🤭
As funny as it is emotional: this is us 💛
Love love love you all!!! I look forward to this every week!!!
This TV show was my weekly therapy session. I don’t think there wasn’t an episode I haven’t cried. So many triggers I had with things I went through during my childhood/ teenage years. Thank you so much for doing this. The best and most honest TV show ever!
