    I just did it for 2021 RDX at 59K miles for the first time. Drained 5.1 quarts out. Refilled 5 quarts (I only bought 5 quarts) from the top using a long hose connected to the fill hole. Did not bother to remove the level check bolt.

    Ladies and gents, I am a trained mechanic but ever so often I deal with a newer vehicle or a vehicle that belongs to a person I care about (my wife’s 2019 RDX A-spec) I’ve watched a couple of other vids on this matter. One was a 3 part series that had a lot of unnecessary steps done. I ended up totally discounting it. It didn’t make sense. This gentleman I want to thank you for creating a simple, direct and to the point video. It got me through my wife’s car properly and accurately. Definitely a thumbs up. Thanks again.

      My feelings the same. I think I know what video you are talking about where the guy pulls off the chiller and replaces the filter. That is a lot of extra work that really isn't necessary and will probably just give you an oil leak. Changing the fluid is all dealerships do when they service the transmission. You will achieve as much improvement that you will ever notice.

    Is it really necessary to have the screws put back on or maybe just screw one back on, this is so unnecessary to even have to do all this just to pull the top up

    Hi -just fixed my 2011 CRV random alarm problem using your video. A check on the hood latch sensor showed it had exactly the same fault - always open. It's a very small limit switch which takes a lot of punishment. My intermediate solution is just to disconnect the sensor at the plug and socket connector point. One tip, when you re-attach the latch mechanism, make sure it sits high enough so that the hood latch bar can seat in the latch fully. Thanks for the vid.

    You do not need to remove ANY of that stuff on the top. You can just work from the bottom to reach the drain, fill, and level check bolts. For filling, you can either pump it from below, or snake a tube from the top and pour it in through a funnel.

    • @yubinc8874
      @yubinc8874 Před 6 měsíci

      What you said is true. However, I think I will prefer the method in this video since it makes refilling so much easier from the top/breather hole after watching several other videos.

    • @garyallman3039
      @garyallman3039 Před 6 měsíci

      @@yubinc8874 If you are going to replace that filter (not an Acura recommended maintenance item, but I would do it once at maybe 80k miles), then you might as well fill from the top. Otherwise, you are more than doubling the labor for a fluid change.

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare Před 4 měsíci

      I have changed transmission fluids many times on several cars in the past 16 years. Even though I don't need to remove all the stuff on top nor change the filter, I'm going to spend that extra time to do it anyways just to fill the fluid in the breather hole rather than the time to pump into the original filler hole from underneath. I just finished doing my RDX today. IT IS THAT MUCH BETTER, MY GOD.

      There is a transmission oil filter on the 2019-202x RDX. It’s very similar to my 2014 Honda Accord transmission filter I change. The dealer parts department should have it just call in advance before show up. This is not a maintenance item but you could change it. Drain and fill the Trans oil every 30k miles should be good. Just don’t let the oil get dirty which will clog up the filter.
