Another great rendition of send in the Clowns. I tried to upload this in its proper 4:3 format but it has automatically gone to 16:9. Sorry about that.
Lin Biviano and Buddy Rich Band London 1982

I decided there were not enough clips of Lin on youtube so, I've uploaded this great clip in honour of this inspiring musician. This clip is from a 1982 BBC TV show entitled " Tony sings...and Buddy swings" Lin's enthusiasm is so infectious as he gets " High" on the music. Watching his antics is as great as hearing his music. Look out for the glances between Lin & Buddy. Priceless.

"Shiny Stockings" uploaded as a request from the 2002 Proms performance titled " Swing" by Wynton Marsalis and his Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. This marked Marsalis's second of three Proms appearances following his special midnight matinee in 1993 and preceeding his "Out here to Swing" Prom 2004.

Fred, you better believe it no body.
Corny arrangement. I was never a Lin fan. Over-did it with the doits. Definitely one of the lesser MF leads.
Riley is Dope !!!
Amazing singer..❤❤
Every bite is perfect!
This Concert at the 1982 Montreal Jazz Festival displays Cleo Laine's mastery of Blues as well as Jazz. The synergy between Cleo and John Dankworth is amazing. Their love and respect for each other is obvious here as expressed through this incredible Music. A master Singer in unison with a master Musician and Arranger, along with incredible backup Musicians, including their Son Alec Dankworth on what looks like a Bass Guitar. Turkish Delight is unbelievably incredible. Cleo's Scatting ability is unparalleled. Thank you for posting this Video.
I saw Lin with Buddy live and was a big fan, but I think he is a bit too intense playing the tambourine--hardly a demanding instrument.
My mom's favorite jazz singer became my favorite as well.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great soprano sax solo.
Let this be a lesson to humanity: Ella Fitzgerald grew up in a single Mom household, never knew who her father was and dirt poor. Her albums are the most quintessential of the most elitist jazz collections. There are poor kids today who are looked down upon and no chances or considerations given. Just think of that. Ella Fitzgerald, the greatest singer who ever lived, a legend and the First Lady of song forever.
Also Bass player. woooooowwwwwie !
I bet that took her back, you can tell by the lightness when she says Savoy. Be she thought of Chick and all of them
These were musicians as good as any in the world. And always appeared the least 'starry' - they didn't need to show off or have any gimmicks because they were such top quality at what they did.
Good observation. I agree.
She sounds like a tenor saxophone.
Pure gold ✨️ 💛
He looks like Elvis here
Well... both male, mammals. Kinda similar.
Saw Lin play Maria from West Side Story in Upper Darby High when he was 17. He was already a monster player !!!!
Listen to Pete Beltran on bass bone. We played in Bill Holman’s Band together. Great guy and a great player.
Such Fabulous Musicians and The Great Miss Cleo Laine Unmistakable Voice Range is SUBLIME! Many Blessings to All!Thank You for Sharing!
Savoy, the home of sweet romance Savoy, it wins you at a glance Savoy, gives happy feet a chance, to dance. Your form, just like a clinging vine Your lips, so warm and sweet as wine Your cheek, so soft and close to mine, devine How my heart is singin' While the band is swingin' Never tired of rompin' And stompin' with you, at the Savoy, What joy, a perfect holiday Savoy, where we can glide (dance) and sway Savoy, There let me stomp away with you.
I love her so much
The 2nd song is 'Round Midnight -- not Airmail Special.
So relaxed.
Thank you, Ella.❤
Did she ever record a version at the Chick Webb tempo?
Beyonce can't hold candle to this lady!
The fabulous Sarah Vaughn ❤
This song is hard asf
Lin Biviano is the biggest poser of all time. Always sloppy!
The original house music house is feeling
exquisita
Anyone know who the drummer is here?
Kenny Clare?
The only things bad about this video are the negative comments. This is world class playing by everyone on the bandstand. Buddy can’t play funk?, Lin doesn’t play clean?, Lin’s over the top on tambourine? How about STFU and direct me to your video where you do better!
Absolutely agree with you. No matter whatever the genre of music ,from opera to pop ,you cannot beat wholehearted enthusiasm. And boy did he have it in spades.
Unique and definitely devine.
Lin always played his ❤️ out..and Buddy is an eternal treasure ..Vaughn 🎺
I attended every Sydney concert during the 1970's. The concerts were totally brilliant ... great songs ... superb backing ... the husband's incredible playing and the absolutely incredible voice and personality of the incredible Cleo.
I am thrilled down to my TOES to find CLEO again! Now in MY 80's, have been so busy catching up on life! But CLEO is back on top with me, where she belongs. FABULOUS CLEO!!❤❤❤
Delighted you have enjoyed this video so much. I must upload another one soon once i have the time. Regards.
Lin really loved what he was doing and appreciated Buddy. I also liked him with Maynard Ferguson. I am sure he is a great teacher to young musicians today.
I cannot recall another vocalist who both harmonises with and leads the song so well. She just embodied sound or did the sound embody her?
Hey largsfairlie - this is great footage. I'm interested in using it in a documentary I'm producing. Could we discuss further over email? Thanks.
Did you get my email?
@@largsfairlie I just got it earlier today - thanks! Replied to you
pheowwww now thats a drum solo breaking the mould great great great
This is the best tuning I've ever heard.
It must be said, this was a phenomenal concert. "Turkish Delight" being the highlight. Thanks for uploading this.
🌻

Drop the mic!!!!
Wonderful She sings to you. What an artist
Swing it, Ella!!
