Longboard Pump Track Tutorial
In my attempts to ride switch, I noticed some things that could help a beginner. In this video I demonstrate ways to get comfortable in order to learn the pump track. One mistake I made twice in switch stance was leaning away from the wall before I exited the turn! Remember, keep your weight centered over the board, closer to the wall, as you round out and finish the turn. Other tips include strategies for getting comfortable in your stance, knee awareness, turn engagement and lifting up as you go up the bumps. Hope your progression is fun! I hope to ride as fast in my switch stance as I do my regular stance one day.

How does carving on a 2SWIFT compare to a Onewheel?
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 10 měsíci
In this video I tell a story about how I got into the 2swift, and how it carves in comparison to the onewheel. What a fun time to be alive with all these amazing inventions! The main takeaway is that the 2swift carves more naturally, since the onewheel speed can sometimes ever so slightly vary between toe and heel, causing the sense of an interruption from toeside to heelside carves. Sometimes ...

      Yep, have had onewheels since 2017. I never felt obsessed with it, like with snowboarding. I'm pretty happy that the software update for custom settings on the gt finally went through. The carvy feel is nicer. It's an impressive machine. I've tried comparing the onewheel to a 2swift in a seperate video but I'm just not sure they are similar enough to compare. If you're looking for maneuverability, go with onewheel. Onewheels ride on trails and through tight spaces. If you just want to ride fast on pavement, as you would a bike, 2swift feels amazing. Some take 2swift on trails but it doesn't have suspension so it's great for carving smooth pavement.

    Thanks for sharing Emily! You got me interested. Gonna try a 2SWIFT as I have always wanted to snowboard but unfortunately I live in a tropical country. I windsurf, ride eskateboards, scooters, EUC’s and onewheels, learning in that order. I skateboarded as a kid so Eskateboards came naturally. None of my previous skills were transferable to EUC’s. That was a steep learning curve and after many falls and lots of profanity I finally got it. Just got a floatwheel and was surprisingly able to ride it off the bat. At 59 I’m grateful I have the chance to play and enjoy these cool hobbies.

      Oh cool! I've been trying to put a video together to give tips to the beginner. I was wondering if the 2swift might be "too difficult" for people who don't have some board sport experience, but I never want the discomfort of trying something new to stop anyone! It may take a little time to get comfy, so stick with it. Progress happens at different rates for everyone. At slow speeds it's a little tippy. Stay super relaxed and make small balance corrections without getting rigid or tense. You'll naturally need to step off the board when you're first starting out slowly so just stay on your feet. Keep your knees soft and bent but stay loose and you'll hopefully be carving in no time. Omg, I just saw the 2nd half of your comment now. All of that prior experience is totally going to set you up for success!

      Supermoto?! I'll have to look it up. The sensations from carving snow is unmatched, you know it. So many beautiful forces at play carving snow. I'm sad I couldn't capture a good snowboarding video last season. 2swift is what I do when I want a flowy mindless ride. Onewheel is great for exploring unknown terrain. I spend most of my summer on the longboards. No downhill sadly but I've got a pump track nearby that continues to challenge me. I've been riding the pump track switch!! Ryan Knapton would be proud. Lol. The right longboard setup or surfskate on the pump track is a beautiful connection to snowboard carving and your legs will be ready on day 1 of the season. I think what I love about longboarding more than the electric rides is that the skills progression and goal setting is more mentally engaging with longboarding than it is riding electric things.

    As for onewheel nosedives on turns, I suggest you trying floatwheel. First, it is way more powerful. Second, it does some magic especially for sharp turns. If you ride a VESC or more powerful board in general, get your tune right, that front foot thing is gone. You'll never achieve the feeling that you get with one wheel because of the throttle. ABC's are important(Always Be Carving)but once you get over 1,000 miles on the onewheel, all the things you describe(for me anyway)goes away. I think also you may not understand how the sensor works in the front. Once you roll, the sensors have no play.

    • @EmilyVidd
      @EmilyVidd Před 3 měsíci

      Well I still enjoy riding the onewheel. The main thing I noticed riding it (since 2017) is the heel carve sometimes slows down ever so slightly, enough that is a subtle interruption in flow but probably only noticeable because of over 25 years carving a snowboard, where transitions are light and poppy. I think the 2swift mimics the feel but is nowhere close. I think the onewheel can feel great carving too, especially with what you mentioned, higher torque models, settings, experience, etc. Ride everything and have fun!

    It's refreshing to see a review by a female rider that's an actual review and not just her getting clicks because she's wearing a bikini. Most dudes here will know what I mean. Have you crashed on the 2Swift? If so, what were the circumstances? I've owned 4 Onewheel variations and the nosedive is a deal breaker for me. Love carving, so I'm basically waiting for them to release a higher range model and then I'll purchase one. Hopefully their next revision is out before summer

    • @EmilyVidd
      @EmilyVidd Před 5 měsíci

      No, I haven't fallen or had any crashes on the 2swift. I rode it fairly slow the first day. (5-12mph) I suppose it's a little more turny at really slow walking speeds, and tippy but any fall that slow could be stepped out of. My onewheel shut off during a cold temp ride once. I had a nasty fall. It wasn't a fall actually. I flew through the air and then landed on my face. Terrible. I never rode the onewheel under 40 degrees again, and didn't have any other falls or nosedives, so I always blamed the temperature and lower battery. Anyway, I definitely look forward to how the 2swift evolves. I recommend better braking and of course range is nice. I hope sales are good so they can keep improving.

    "Nothing like the feeling of carving on snow." Couldn't agree more! I bought a onewheel because my friend was raving about how well it carves. I was very disappointed, I mostly use it now to run my daughter to the bus stop. Summer carving would be so great, I'm thinking electric unicycle or electric surfboard next. Glad its still winter now though... Lets see some snowboard carving next!

      I love it but, I'd say it's a lot closer to a snowskate over snowboard. Do you ride trails? Dirt is where the onewheel really shines. Also stock onewheel tires are way too flat in order to keep it stable for beginners a more rounded sidewall really helps carving. Also vesc makes them ride so much better. The closest I've felt to snowboarding though is a freebord, I'd imagine a summerboard would be the motorized version but, I haven't got to try one yet.

  • @bookmark2846
    @bookmark2846 Před 6 měsíci

    I finally got one partly due to this video. I agree that the riding feel is closer approximation to snowboarding than the onewheel (and esk8s). I've only put roughly 20 miles on it and won't pass judgement on it until I've had hundreds of miles of 2swift riding experience. I will say that I do enjoy riding it and do not regret the purchase as of yet but am pretty sure it won't unseat my EUC as my favorite PEV. Being able to carve around town without having to worry about nosediving is rather sublime. A couple of things I noted so far: Board is quite stiff with no flex so my feet are currently in pain and trying to adapt - maybe foam grip tape might help but I wish the deck was more flexible. I wish there was a fender on the back wheel because I sometimes accidentally put my foot against the rear tire while trying to mount the board. Trying to start the board while facing uphill is a challenge but that should be easier once I get better. I wish the remote display expressed in numbers how much battery life I have left rather than in bars. For the price, I expect the board to have a smart BMS and possibly an app that will provide info and the ability to change settings The remote could be improved so that suddenly letting go of the accelerator wheel doesn't cause the 2swift to jerk Braking needs to be improved. It cannot come to a complete stop even on a gentle downhill slope.

      You're perspective is a bit overly simplistic and very black and white. No need to hate on other products. I think anyone who rides a onewheel agrees they are amazing. My video is just talking about a certain turning sensation that I think feels cool on a 2swift. I also like turning sensations from snowboards, longboards, wakeboards, etc. Doesn't have to be a contest.

    • @bookmark2846
      @bookmark2846 Před 7 měsíci

      This board is trying to replicate the feel of snowboarding which it does BETTER than the onewheel according to the OP who has owned and rides both. The 2swift has two wheels so I'm not sure why you even think it is a "copy". Most of what makes the onewheel unique besides its one wheel is the self balancing aspect which the 2Swift has no component similarity. If you want to talk copies, then the Floatwheel is the closest thing and the floatwheel is faster, stronger and has better range than any onewheel. Another single wheel variant are the EUCs which will blow away the onewheel in any objective performance metric.

    • @EmilyVidd
      @EmilyVidd Před 6 měsíci

      @bookmark2846 something funny to add is the guys who made the 2swift precisely said they were trying to design something new and different. They all ride onewheels, and like them just fine. Nobody is hating on onewheels. Lol. But they probably get sick of being compared to or grouped with it. It's just a cool machine that they worked to bring to life. It's different but familiar at the same time. More power to them.

    Thank you for the great review Emily! I've been interested in purchasing a 2swift for over a year and have watched lots of video reviews in hopes of finding out if this is something I would enjoy. For background, I am nearing 50 years old and love snowboarding, wakeboarding, and just about all things PEV (e-bikes, e-scooters, e-skates,...). I am fortunate enough to own a Onewheel GT, Inmotion V12 EUC, and Exway Wave eskate. While all of those are tons of fun in their own right, the 2swift has instantly become my favorite. After watching your video Emily, I was able to rent one at a local shop to see if I would enjoy it as much as others have described. After the rental, I decided to sell my Onewheel GT so I could purchase the 2swift. This isn't meant to begin a debate over which is better; the Onewheel and 2swift have different pros/cons. I've read some comparisons of the Onewheel as a ninja, and the 2swift as a surfboard. I don't know the best description; I do agree that the Onewheel is very agile, responsive, and tons of fun. That being said, I still prefer the sheer enjoyment I get riding the 2swift. Carving on the 2swift is the closest I've come to the feeling of carving on a snowboard. At my age, it takes too long to recover from an injury, and I love that I can have a ball on the 2swift without having to go over 15 mph (it goes faster if speed is a priority to you). Hope this comment is helpful to someone looking to replicate the snowboard feel without a mountain nearby.

    Good job on carving comparison! I ride OW XR. Really want to ride a 2 swift. Would you say it’s worth it’s $1,800 price tag? $1,800 is what I paid for my XR in 2020.

      I wish I had a straightforward answer. You just have to try it and see. Everyone's situation is different. Supporting a locally owned and designed product factored into my willingness to pull the trigger. I know myself and knew I'd be thinking about it, had I not bought it, so I didn't wait.

      Once on a board that I’ve enjoyed the price goes away even on the GT-S which is twice the price almost.

      I went ahead and got one on Black Friday weekend for $1600 plus shipping. It’s such a different feel. Am having fun learning to ride. The board is well made and the customer service is amazing. No regurts!
