The 66 Cadillac is available in both DeVille and Eldorado whereby both are configured with the 429ci engine, by comparison the 68 has the 472ci engine which is generally considered to be a vastly superior engine. Kind Regards George

@EldoradoGeorge Thanks George I hadn't factored that in. Does the 429 get more MPG or is it not really noticeable?

The issue to be cognizant of is not MPG,... it is related to the engine block design whereby the 1966 429ci engine has a cast pot metal timing cover that is problematic arising from the anodic cathodic reaction from the dissimilar metal faces touching that react when exposed to the solvent of the coolant that in-turn erodes the timing cover destroying the seal integrity. Additionally the 429ci timing cover also has an integral oil pump as part of the casting that is prone to scaring from the sprocket shaped impellers,... and once scared the timing cover is trash as insufficient oil pressure causes damage to the engine. Finally,... to replace the timing cover in the 429ci is very costly because good units are very hard to find,.. you can wind up spending a lot of money on a replacement timing cover which is not reproduced and only available as used units,... and end up with a trash replacement unit anyway... depending on the supplier / seller you are dealing with. I only sell 429ci timing covers that are near perfect condition, and they are hard to come by,... I've got dozens of poor quality timing covers stacked up in a corner that I would never sell to anyone,... because I don't sell any part to anyone that I wouldn't put in one of my own seven (7) classic Cadillacs. @EldoradoGeorge Thanks I'm not very knowledgeable about mechanics so if I do buy one I'll consult you if it seems to not be perfect. So does that mean the 472 has far fewer issues and is a far easier car to maintain? The problem is I really like the stacked headlight DeVille convertibles and to me the 66 looks perfect but if it sort of destroys itself like you say then I'm not sure how I'd keep on top of that. It's also the fact that they're convertibles and a mid 60s car was already built when a lot of my favourite songs came out so I could play them in the car and it would fit. My biggest worry now is that I'd make my decisions on what car to buy based on cosmetics like what colour combination it is and then accidentally ruin the car by not maintaining it properly. I'd probably use it quite a lot aswell.

The 472ci is more reliable with higher horsepower and has no timing cover issues. Moreover, the 472 is almost identical to the 500ci 8.2 liter whereby the 500ci has increased stroke with a larger bore but the casting od the backs between the 472ci vs. 500ci are virtually identical Kind Regards George 727-364-7523 eMail kypitsn@aol.com

Hello and thank you for your question pertaining to the E1 Eldorado in-dash light switch. Be advised that 1967 is unique and a 1 year design as is also 1968...both of which have support for the Vacuum Actuated "Hide-a-Way Headlamp Door Covers". Conversely the 1969-1970 Eldordao is a 2 year design that has NO Support for this feature function. If you are contemplating the possibility of augmenting a 1969-1970 Eldorado with the Hide-a-Way Headlamp cover design you will need the Headlamp DoorCover mechanism from the front clip of a 1967-1968 Eldorado as well as Vaccum Tank as well as the 1967 or 1968 In-Dash Light Switch with the Integrated Vacuum Actuation ,... as well as the Actuator Push-Rod Canisters... I have all these parts in my inventory of 75,000 original vintage 1967-1978 Cadillac Eldorado parts. Yes, the timing chain assembly can be swapped without extracting the engine from the engine bay,... however if the thrust bearings have been excessively worn, then the engine is pulled, and an overhaul.rebuild.woll be required.

Hello Keegan, I was shocked when this occurred. These young folks today seem to be disinterested in following their employer's rules governing their work practices. There is a clear prohibition of drivers entering onto a private driveway for liability and other reasons, this is not limited to just Amazon but also UPS, DHL as well as FedEx and even the US Post Office - Having said all that my conclusion is that Modern Corporate America has no oversight on contractor employees an overall absence of oversight on favor of increased profits. If Amazon subs out delivery to low cost independent contractors,... who in-turn hire the lowest cost employee they can find and provide little to no training all for the sake of profit,.. then this is the result !

Hello Rusty,... wow is right people don't realize how incredibly heavy these Amazon Electric vehicles are and the detrimental impact they have on a.brick paver driveway whereby they push-down the bricks and displace them when the drivers turn the wheels of these heavy vehicles causing shifting and misalignment.of the bricks. Unlike a concrete driveway.. a brick paver driveway has bricks that are.placed onto a gravel-sand substrate and are held in.place merely by the tight pattern established when the driveway is constructed.

All the 1967 Cadillac Eldorados had the air-ride leveler system.
