So how does that race monitor work
Subscription fee then if a race is participating then you can watch race times in real time or recall.
how anout how to read a Gear ratio chart. whats The diffence in numbers lower better or larger better?
I’ll see what I can do about that. 👍
what's happening brother!
👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
Looks like a predator race. I think you went out with the wrong class. Lol
🤣
You are looking good in this race . Looks like it was a little rough out there though .
Had a fast kart. Stuff happens. On yo the next.
Have you ever raced Poughkeepsie?
No I havnt.
Absolute mess... You gave me the bumps and I moved out. 3 didn't give up anything then caused a wreck and stayed in position... That's why I pulled off right behind you
Yeh, hard to rewatch races like this.
Ben I couldn’t race up there looks like you are running with a bunch of no talent racers
Just overly aggressive. It’s not a lot of fun sometimes. Lol.
This looks hella fun, how fast these things go?
Depending on track and conditions between 40 and 55 ish mph
It is a lot of fun though!!
Bigger tracks absolutely you get moving faster but Jonathan is right. Average 30-55 track depending.
Yes correct
What track is that?
"How to practice " 101. Perhaps a topic for a video?? Too many people like to "race" in practice I've always stressed to my boys, get some room and have enough space to see what the kart/tires are doing. Ya can't learn a darn thing racing with another kart in practice!!! Great job buddy...
Thank you. I like to see where I can get passing lanes but yes then I back off and work on line to catch again.
Same thing, whenever we catch up with someone in practice we back off almost a whole straight away and go again..... we have so many jokers around here that like to get racy in practice and waste their time.
How that 3 kart doesn’t go to the back after taking me out is beyond me
🤷♂️
Looks like a Black Sand Sorta night. Racing in the desert.
Started that way. Ended with orange but could have stayed BS.
Can you use some trac tac SAA to help ya grip the seat??😅😅😂
Haha. I’d it’s cold enough.
Glad he's okay!
Me too.
Driving a 500cc Honda in the UAS class will throw you out of the seat!! Lol.
Correct 😁
Great content . I have done the praying concerning " Where the hell is the white flag " ? I found listening to music helped me stay calmer and drive somewhat better . Also I was a caffeine junkie on race days and that aggravated the situation . I did have a few races that the kart was spot on , went right to the front and was not tired after the race .
Good to know. Yeh any stimulant might make that worse.
Great video! I definitely hold my breath a lot racing
I really try and be aware of that.
@@kart6t3_ben I have sleep apnea machine ran into my helmet now. It’s been way faster lol
The Seraph was the pickiest little bastard I've ever driven. Fast as hell when it was happy but it never lasted long.
Bet that wall will jump out and grab ya out the corner
It’s sneaky like that sometimes.
Dont worry guys he is ok
Yes. 👍
Hey Ben, I'm just thinking ahead, but do you do anything special with your tires to get ready for the off-season
You can. Some people like to wrap tires, but idk if that’s necessarily needed. I think maybe a quick coat of a conditioner or wd40 and you should be good. Some also like climate controlled area(mine stay in the barn). So I’m not the #1 authority on this subject. Lol.
Lol, off season what I love about racing in the south there is no off season
If you know a good fab guy. All the parts can be remade on older chassis. I got a 1993 Margay & a 1997 UltraMax. So far, all basic parts inner change. Plus I’ve done some mods on them both. Using the Margay for the ghost class & the ultra max for the XBP class. It’s all about fun. It’s go kart racing.
Very true.
I use a tilted engine mount, the top of my front sprocket is pretty much in line with the top of my rear sprocket. Is it true this may create bind/loss of power out of corners? I read that the crank should ideally be the same height as the axle.
Never looked into that. Might be some truth to it? Hard to say whether the angle axle/crank actually matters or not? Interesting.
@@kart6t3_ben "The only thing about an angled mount is that it raises the engine up. Ideally the crank and the axle are the same height, the further up the crank is from the axle, the more bind you get in the chain when the kart flexes. Theoretically it robs a little power coming out of corners, or you’ll be a little more likely to throw a chain, but realistically it’s not a big deal for a KA or X30."
Would track tac work on full size car tires? What would it do to the track if we ran asphalt?
I’ve heard Sst5 works really well on bigger cars. You could but I don’t have any experience with asphalt racing in general to speak on it.
@@kart6t3_ben thank you so much
I agree 100% on the parts availability part, especially if you're buying a used kart and some new. It's so nice to be able to go online and order the parts you need and not have to worry about when you're going to get it. I have a 2015 kart and parts are hard to get some times.
I do like when they use the same spindles for different gen of models. But I get why they change stuff.
I tried many brands of chassis... ultramax, phantom, twister, mongoose, titan etc.... ill say hands down the titan t7 was the absolute best kart ive ever had... handled great and was able to use slack parts interchangeably... i liked the badmaxx too by ultramax... if you are just getting started the best kart is whatever you can afford at the time ideally what you see winning a good amount locally... just my opinion
Yes. Very good points.
You should do one about buying a motor 😅
Agreed. Some principles apply but yes.
Printing out a set-up sheet for the chassis , if it is available , and setting up as close to what the set-up sheet suggests is a great place to Start . It should get you in the ball park so to speak . The older Falcon chassis seemed to be a fast ride for beginners , it just plain worked about everywhere on every track condition .
Yes. Baseline numbers are definitely great to have.
Is it possible to raise the duro of a Burris 33 from 52 up to 59 in a week, if so how?
Maybe?? Wipe with Methenol or Hexane and let set in the sun in between coats.
@@kart6t3_ben thank you Ben, you have been a great help in my sons first year.
@@johnwilliams727 your very welcome. Thank you for watching.
I’m new to karting and I got a Phantom stalker frame and I have noticed that you can not find new spindles for it anymore but it is a stater frame for me and it’s been fun trying to learn how to put it together for a stock Pradater class and hopefully Phantom will me out with my frist set up
I’ve never tried it but maybe something modern would fit? At least a question to ask.
I ve always loved racing and I've done several different forms of racing over the years but one day I had a gentleman want to trade me something I had on marketplace for a go-kart I said sure it looks cool a little late model I decided to start racing right away with it nut and bolted and went man I wish I found this channel before I did that ..... Any way it was raised in the predator class so I thought perfect low budget just go out and have fun with come to find out I had no idea what I was buying it was a margay asphalt kart originally knowing what I know now I should have passed on the deal
Get with PRC or James Stanley-Racing, they'll be able to answer any phantom questions you have.
@@kart6t3_benthat kart is a non adjustable I believe so there really isn't anything modern that would work that I can think of for that
Firmware Ver. 01.32.08 is out. You should do an update video.
I’m terrible at keeping up with stuff. Probably should do that.
Unfortunately you may not pass if tech does a fuel check if you flush the fuel system with anything other than regular 87 octane pump gas. I think it would save Engines and time if flushed after each race day. I flush all my opens with straight wd-40.
Knew this would be an interesting topic to discuss.
What is something people might be able to mix at home to let set over night? I heard someone make a mix of ammonia, mean green and wager but not sure how it would work
Don’t know that one. I’ve heard of transmission fluid and mineral spirits possibly being a. Combo.
Hey Ben I'm new to karting but I got a kt100 with an l&t wet clutch that's not working is it possible or cheaper to rebuild it or should I buy a whole new clutch instead?
So quick question, not hating here at all. So whats the benefit of this device that it would give you other than picking up the tire and wiping it??
completely off topic question, but I run on we mostly use goat pee where in the winter you want your tires around 30 and in the summer maybe a 35-40. I was wondering a good inside prep to use. I thought about maybe goat or some track tack black sand but I'm not sure how it'll work with the soft tire and the outside wipes of goat. We have one big turn and then a real sharp hair pin turn.
also running Maxxis
Think I answered ya on DKR. 👍
we do a spiner spiny rule so if you hit someone and they spin you both go to the back to deture ruff play
That’s usually the case. Not this time.
Told you hahaha. Running the clones and the predator makes you relearn to drive again. Tires, chassis, scale, prep, all of that and d8d I say relearning to drive again hahaha. Because it's truth. High horsepower allows you to correct mistakes. Lower power you mess up and your basically done. You have no choice but to be like the rest and push ppl out of the way.... unless you kamikaze into the corners like a lot of them do, that's a no no. My open team mate is also finding this out as well in the clone class. He builds our uas motors and we'll all of these motors. But he recently decided to run the clones, and has found out you need to drive better and keep the laps consistent every lap.
It’s been a learning experience for sure.
Hey Ben, sent you a email the other day about kart gearing. Just a heads up. Have a good day!
Sent ya one. 👍
Do-nuts on the left side is not optimal!!! Do-nuts on right side ok!!!
Ideally none. But yes I don’t like the left ones very much. Haha.
Bodies!! I start every year with a brand new body and last year I finished with a used nose and left side panel from two years ago with lots of duct tape. Lol. Rather frustrating for sure!
That it is. I’ll get faster. 😁
Buy the vintage plastic g nose body.you cant hurt that nose.still have mine in building.😂
On track calls !!! This is a subject that can go on for weeks. Try racing against the track "presidents" son, the race directors brother, the flagmans nephew (all the same kid) get takin out by him, also takes himself out, you get sent to the back and he always gets his spot back, over the Whole season. 😡🤯. But anywho clone racing has if anything taught me to be aware of some many little things, just to try and get that little bit of advantage..
Yeh that’s a bummer. I’m a local who isn’t quite local enough. Lol.
Sadly that kid that dumped you isn't going to learn his lesson till someone roughs him up outside of the kart..... parents have become so ultra competitive with racing at the lowest level thinking their kids the next big thing for Nascar that they teach them to win no matter what they have to do.. sportsmanship has went out the window a long time ago... that was part of the reason I got out of racing the clone classes and started racing predators... I saw more respect in racing running that 100 dollar engine then I ever did in the clones
It’s definitely tough. I have hope that getting just one person to run tight but clean can inspire others. Although and eye for an eye does happen more often. Lol.
The Predator Heavy class at my track is mostly dudes early 30's to early 60's and they just want to have a good time.
Unfortunately 8 tires are better than 4 tires in corners. I hate getting rough up and getting srnt to the back. And no most do it on purpose it's the nature of the beast. But it is fun.
It is fun. Hate to loose, love to compete.
Clone racing ? Sounds more like clown racing. 😂 Sounds about right, Ben. It's still pretty fun though.
It is. I’m enjoying it.
Think you’ll find that the reason Evan and Kyle can be better in open/UAS is that they’re not loosing as much as far as speed just like the clones. Because you came from open racing you had that HP cushion to get you out of trouble and it makes us complacent. Now in stockers it’s not loosing speed cause you have no HP. It’ll make you way faster all around Ben. If you run that bama like you do this clone you’ll be dumb fast!!!
I’m hoping so. 👍
Clones like most other stock classified engines are all about keeping that momentum up and getting in a rhythm
Dive bombing is the biggest problem. There are a lot of drivers that just have no clue how to drive. Because they are in a go kart. To them it’s just a game, ha ha, funny funny. JMO.
I can usually feel a move about to happen. But not that one, but I knew who it was when it happened. Lol.
@@kart6t3_ben I run a 212 budget. Venturing into the Ghost class.
Drive the way you want to be driven used to be the golden rule... we need more aggressive flagmen!! And I agree with Wes a central racing organization to set rules would help. But the flagger should take control of the race.
Yeh the tower put me in the rear. I was acting a fool in there defense. Uuuugh.
This track looks awesome
It’s fun.
