2 Better Ways to Tie On A Fly
zhlédnutí 255Před 9 měsíci
I'll show you two ways to tie on a fly to your tippet that I think are better and faster than hand tying on a fly. This will help you to be able to change flys quicker and more often to keep you catching fis #flyfishing #renegadeflyfishing #tipsandtricks Get your Renegade Fly Fishing Merch here:bit.ly/3BiIq2P Lake Products THREE-in-One Knot Tying Tool Fly Fishing amzn.to/3qRpd2A Hemostats amzn....

Catching Trout in this High Desert Creek
Wow, where is that!
Thank you for this! As a beginner fly fisherman it’s tough to get the jist messed mine up first day out but feel like due to no drag I wouldn’t have much luck! Any recommendations? I feel drag is a NECESSITY when fly fishing!
Jesus loves us all and saves! God bless! ❤
Good tip! What brand/style is the hat?
I grew up in Montrose, about twenty miles west of this spot, and it was my favorite fishing hole. Thanks for posting this video. It really brings back memories.
I need some hemostats...
They are very handy!
Thank you so much. Always worried if there is stuff behind me to get snagged on. Love it.
You’re welcome!
I was practicing this just yesterday
Nice!
I needed this because I’ll be fishing the Pete Marquette in pentwater
That’s awesome, good luck!
@@renegadeflyfishing thank you, good luck on your next adventures. I’ve just inherited thousands of dollars of fly fishing equipment from a guy down my block. He gave me a vice, almost material, and boxes on boxes of flies.
Dude I hooked my leg so hard when I did this the first time
Oh no, lol
Might work better to stop the cast higher (10:30 rather than 9:00) so the line unrolls in the air, rather than on the water (more like a Spey cast). Practical cast, worth practicing.
Yeah I think you’re right!
She seems like a fun person.
I learned to fly cast on the lawn at my park after watching a few basic casting videos. An old timer drove up and asked, "how's the fishing?" I said, " It sucks, I'm gonna kill the guy who recommended this place." You creators give knowledge and inspiration to people. Thank you.
That’s a great reply to “how’s the fishing”! Glad it was helpful! Thanks for your kind words!
indiana jones approves this. Its like a whip action ☺️
Oh yeah!
Awesome dude.
Thanks!
Seems like this might be helpful in windy conditions
Oh yeah!
Why arenfolks so bunged up that you used a tool to tie the clinch knot? Many fishermen have limited dexterity and a tool is nothing more than an aide to get the job done, here's a geman word of advise for the complainers: quitcherbitchen
All you guys saying it’s easier without the tool, maybe for you it is. But I know I’d much rather use this method( I usually just use my Hemostats) than trying to twist and tie a size 18 by hand. No thank you
Looks like an awesome day!
It was a lot of fun!
Is it ok if the line lands before the fly, or is the fly supposed to land before the line like in a normal cast?
It’s worked ok for me but it’s best if the fly lands first.
Great camera work. Makes sense now
Thank you my wonderful wife was filming with a camera in one hand and an iPhone recording slow motion in the other hand. Glad it helped!
This is where I go fish to get skunked😍😆
😆 haha! I’ve been skunked there a few times, but also caught my personal best brown trout there. Usually it’s somewhere in between.
Snapped a ultra-light rod coming out of the bush with my rod strapped to my quad. Wasn't fixable. Cried a little
Thats always a bummer. Especially if you’re on your way to fish.
Thankfully it was coming out from fishing!
@@datona1 oh that a little better! 🙃
End the forward motion with a crisp / abrupt stop while it is still fairly high (2 o'clock?). Point the tip of the rod where you want the flyline to go.
Thank you for the tip I will give that a try! 😄
When I first started roll casting I didn't keep the rod wide enough away from my body and rolled the fly straight into my chin. Never took the barb off. A fellow fly fisherman helped me remove it 😂
Oh man that would be painful! 😖
straight to the point, good lad.
Thank you!
Yep! And no music!!
Wtf are you catching minnows for 😂😂😂
Haha sometimes that’s all I can catch🤣 but I’ll take it!
Looks way harder with the tool than just tying a clinch knot
Force is strong in this angler!
Catch fish you must.
I'm sorry but this is bad technique. There is no video of my throw. I'll post one here that's good. This is the good technique. The rod tip should go forward not towards the water. It's inefficient. czcams.com/video/ep70_39Ys0c/video.html
You're absolutely right! This is actually a demonstration of a poor roll cast. Clearly too little translation with too much rotation. The result is an almost circular, powerless loop and a barely stretched leader.
Do you haul while roll casting?
No, I either pinch the fly line against the rod or leave it tight on the rod.
That is a beautiful area.
Yes, especially in the fall when the trees change color!
Yeah that’s the one I was looking for as I fish a little river in my local area and always something that is behind catching trees and weeds so head melting 🫠
Great, yeah snagging a tree or bush is no fun! Good luck!
I've been fly fishing from time to time (mostly in the spring for trout and fall for steelhead).. I have never really tried "learning" much coming from spinner/baitcaster fishing.. This helps a ton. Especially fishing mostly in smaller streams where there isn't much space behind
Awesome! I use it a lot in this tight creeks and smaller streams. Good luck!
This is great for people with disabilities
Yeah, and cold fingers!
Thank you, suscribed. I just caught my first to rainbows fly fishing. Loving it so far. I've been fishing since I was a kid
You’re welcome, that’s awesome, thanks for subscribing!
Is that the virgin river
No, it’s the Gunnison river
Actually you shouldn’t make an arc with the rod then the line will be completely in the air
The rod tip shall stay high
Hell yeah 🎉
Nice!
Thank you!
I do this but it ends up laying in a pile
Do you leave some line laying on the water, before you cast forward?
@renegadeflyfishing kinda, mostly I'm just practicing with no extra line out sometimes with but I have a hard time holding my (ring/middle) finger to the pole to hold the line
I've only been fly fishing for a year now
Perhaps you have too much line on the water. Practice with 10 - 15'' of line plus tippet sticking out beyond the rod tip and add more line as you get experience.
I can’t cast good when it’s windy
Yeah the wind makes it tough!
Does this work with bamboo, too?
I’ve never tried it with bamboo but it should work.
Yes. It is one of the best casts for learning the "feel" of a new bamboo rod.
Where is this? Beautiful
On the western slope of Colorado
The water was like "Massah!"
Can you “lay your rod down” to the side in case the trees are in the way? I’m new so I’m just trying to get an idea on how to fish the tight creeks 😅
I’ve never tried it. Not sure if it would work. I’ll have to give it a shot and let you know.
My go to cast
Nice, it’s very helpful!
Thanks I live in tight casting conditions
You’re welcome I hope it helps you catch more fish!
Look up spey casting.
What a beautiful trout! The passion of the fisherman is determined by the smallest fish he can catch without disappointment.
I can get behind this if you can find a way that I won’t have to set it down anyways to run my line up lol.
