      @@darkorkodi3582 yeah deffo 😎 but I was limited for vent space it would also be better if the exhaust ever failed as it'd not suck the fumes in (there is alarms fitted incase that happens btw) but that compartment gets warm from the heat from the heater anyway so it kinda is sucking in warm air, I did think to do what you said after I fitted it if it was a problem but after a few runs and I realised how warm it got under there from the ducting, heater and exhaust I never bothered 😎 the first bit of heater duct that comes from the heater that isn't insulated is also like underfloor heating when you stand in the cabin in socks the floor is well toasty 🤣🤣 but depending on the installation everyone will be different,what you said would be better, rather than dragging cold air in.

    I have the smallest one, and have for some time. I use mine less frequently than I should because it’s a complete pain in the arse filling a 5litre paraffin heater tank. Let me explain, as a one handed operation I have to rest it in the top of the can, and then pour the paraffin using two hands to hold a heavy 25litre container. This as you rightly assumed creates the dreaded air lock, and after a small splash of fuel, the funnel remains full and about 10-50% of what I poured is on the floor. Second solution is to pour smaller quantities of fuel into a separate jug, and then using one hand to hold the funnel a few mm proud of the rim of the tank, pour slowly into the funnel. But I find there is so much build up not flowing through that I have to keep stopping, emptying the funnel, and restarting. The process takes forever just to fill 5 litres, and is a complete ball ache. The claimed flow figures (on my unit anyway) are an absolute joke. I will credit it though on removing the solids, and water as promised, however the ‘water’ I discard is saved in a separate container and used to light my bbq charcoal in the summer, so it isn’t JUST trapping water, it’s wasting fuel also. (Just smell what it captures if you don’t believe me). I’m tempted to buy the bigger one like you have but having already blown £27 odd back when I bought the little one I feel slightly cheated that neither the flow rates or ‘fuel in-water out’ claims are true. I’ve never cleaned mine, I finish using and store upside down, before using again when dried out I tap lightly as recommended. 🤷‍♂️

      It would I guess if the bilge smells 🤣 mines bone dry in that compartment so don't get any smells, you could always put a length of pipe on the air in end and have that in your cabin with the air out vent, that would also recycle the warm air, making the heater work less and cabin warm up faster.

      I wish I'd done a video for the full canopy I made, but was before I decided to do some boat videos, I did use a heat press for that for the edges as the roller would have taken a rather long time, but used the roller and heat gun to stick the windows in and they have been in 4 years now and not fell or blown off, it's not that hard once you have the material cut to size and the edges done, it's all the little fittings that take up the time. I did each one individually so putting the canopy on then mark one up take it off fit the fitting, put back on and mark the next up and so on, takes longer but you know each one will be in the right spot, took me a full bank holiday wknd in August to do the canopy, I did have the old one to copy tho, I just altered it a bit to my desire. It will save you thousands tho in having one made.

    • @barnsleyboater
      @barnsleyboater Před rokem

      The combustion intake goes through the bulk head and into the engine bay for that exact reason, it's never happened tho, the heating air it sucks in is warmed up by the heat from the heater that locker gets warm when it's running, the exhaust is fully sealed so unless that failed it wouldn't suck any fumes into the air part, also incase something did go wrong there is a co and fire alarm next to the heater in that locker so if say the exhaust snapped lol they would go off instantly before it sucked enough through to cause any problems.

I'm going to install this weekend, I am running a much shorter line to my tank but a 5mm bore. Your run is a long one, with 'flexible' pipe. As far as your install is concerned, you haven't seen any fueling issues?

      The bss changed the rules so it doesn't have to be in copper as long as the fuel hose is rated to the iso7840 standard, which the one in the links is, but the smallest ID they do is 3.5mm, think the crap pipe supplied is 2mm, ive had no issues at all with the pipe I used, from tank to pump is about 2m tops then a short bit from pump to heater, ive never had a error code or any problems at all yet and it's now been in over a year, I go to my boat turn the isolator switch on, press on on the display and off it goes 😆 it amazes me to be fair 😆

      Its no problem just be aware that 5mm ID pipe may be too large I think from tank to pump is OK but from pump to heater it may be too large and cause fuel issues, im not 100% sure on that as my memory of it all is getting foggy now as time goes on lol but bear it in mind incase issues arise, something is telling me in my tiny brain that 4mn is the max ID but I could have dreamt it 😆 let me know how it all goes, I'd also avoid priming it with the controller as most folk end up flooding the heaters and causing all kinds of problems, if you can manually prime it to the pump, then just turn it on it may fail a few times first but it will go, better to do that than flood it.

      @@barnsleyboater I have got 5mm pipe to go from tank to pump but its a very short run, barely half a meter, if it proves a problem I will swap it. I plan to prime with the pump but with the end pointing at a bucket then once the system is full attach it to the heater. Might be tell tail if it's struggling with the bore

    Can't get my head around how the standpipe seals in the tank with no internal access, I've found the eber' part and it says it has this feature, but how!!!? I'd also be very surprised if you really need that condensate drain with such a short exhaust run. Really appreciate the video though, thank you.

    • @barnsleyboater
      @barnsleyboater Před 2 lety

      The plate wiggles in to the hole then you tighten the nut on the outside that clamps down to the tank with rubber seal, sealing it if you look on the eberspacher marine install instructions there's a diagram showing you

    • @barnsleyboater
      @barnsleyboater Před 2 lety

      Theres a metal flap that goes into the tank with some wiggling then on the outside is a rubber seal and round metal bit to cover the hole, the nut on the outside tightens it all together so the flap on the inside grips the tank and the rubber seal and round bit clamps the outside stopping any leaks

    Thanks for the informative video. I'm a sailboat liveaboard and am hoping to get my heater installed before the Michigan winter sets in. Was really hoping that the deisel tank pickup install would be chronicled but oh well. Did you run into any hiccups drilling into the tank? And also, have you gotten a feel for how much fuel you're burning?

    • @barnsleyboater
      @barnsleyboater Před 2 lety

      The diesel tank pickup install is in the video all be it brief, it was hard to film and do tasks, I need a camera man lol but I felt it didn't need too much detail as it really is straightforward, if you put some grease on the hole drill bit it will make most of the bits stick to the drill bit as you cut, stopping your fuel getting contaminated, obviously you won't get it all but youl get the majority, I also had a friend hold a hoover as I drilled this also sucked up the bits as it cut through, other than that there was no problems and my tank was full of fuel when I did it. Hope this helps.

      I've had the heater running for weeks at a end running on high and low non stop on trips and at first I was concerned for what it may be using but when I first filled up from a week away I noticed no real difference in what I put in for the same trip before without a heater so now I don't really worry about the fuel it uses as its minimal.

      These are a copy of the eberspacher d4 heaters so if you Google the eberspacher d4 marine instalation manual it should tell you as I think it covers sea boats too if I remember right I think its out the back, going out the roof would be too high for it to push out the fumes and would cause back pressure, but I'm not 100% sure on that, but that eberspacher marine install manual should cover it, thats what I followed for this instalation with adjustments for the uk laws, hope that helps.

    • @barnsleyboater
      @barnsleyboater Před 3 lety

      Yes, when its fitted before you start it, fill a large cup full of water then lift the cup over the coil to the top of the pipe then lower the cup the water will be trapped in the loop and stop and fumes coming out, dont do what I did haha I started the heater the smoke shot out the pipe like a steam kettle I then lifted the cup of water over it and it stopped but it set all my alarms off haha so dont do that.
