How to Understand Engine Oil Grade/Specification
If you look at the engine oil label, you’ll see that it has a corresponding SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) grade. Based on this rating, you’ll know the oil’s viscosity index (VI), which refers to how thin or thick it is. Low viscosity means a thin consistency, while high viscosity gives oils a thicker consistency. Oil viscosity is typically measured at 40° Celsius (104° Fahrenheit) and 100° Celsius (212° Fahrenheit).
As a general rule, engine oil has to be kept as thin as possible in cold temperatures and, conversely, as thick as possible in hot temperatures.
However, the change in viscosity should stay within an ideal range, which the VI indicates. This makes understanding viscosity grades crucial to ensure your engine oil is capable of operating under different conditions.
It’s important to note that a higher VI means minimal viscosity changes, making the oil more effective at protecting your car engine.

Toyota Lanka එකේ පළපුරුදු අයත් ඉන්නව ඒවගේම ආධුනික අයත් ඉන්නවා. මගේ car එකේ Gear oil මාරු කරන්න ගිය වෙලාවක මෙයාල කියනවා එන්ජින් එකෙන් අමුතු සද්දයක් එනවලු Tune up කරන්න වෙයිලු හැබැයි Car එකේ තෙල් වැඩ 33Km/l වගේ. පස්සේ මන් ගෙදර ඇවිත් බැලුවම මන් Silencer end එකක් දාලා තියෙනවා එකේ Nut washer එක loose වෙලා ටින් ටින් ගාල හෙලවෙනවා රේස් කරද්දී. ඒක හිර කරාට පස්සේ කිසිම සද්දයක් නැ. සරලව හිතන්න මන් ඒ වෙලේ Tune up එකකට බොරුවට වියදම් කරානම් මේක විසදෙන්නේ නැ. මේකේ විතරක් නෙමෙයි ගොඩක් ගැරේජ් කරන අය නැති ලෙඩ කියල බයකරලා සල්ලි සුරන් කනවා. කොහෙන් සර්විස් කරත් ආධුනික අයට දෙන්න එපා තමන් වාහනේ study කරලා යන්න.
අනිවාර්යයෙන් තමන්ගෙ වාහනේ ඒ වගේම මේ දේවල් පිලිබද ඉගෙන ගන්න ඕන. මන් හිතන්නේ මේ වීඩියෝ එකේ සහ චැනල් එකේ අනිත් වීඩියෝ වලින් ගොඩක් ඉගෙන ගන්න දේවල් තියෙනව.
How to identify faulty PCV valve
Look around the valve for oil build-up. Too much oil can mean it’s not working well. If u can access to valve(Dont do if u dont knw, and show to a mechanic) With the engine running, cover the valve opening with your finger. You should feel a slight suction. No suction means the valve might be faulty.
මටත් ටොයොටා වාහනයක් තියෙන්නෙ .කම්පැනි නිසා විශ්වාස නිසා එහෙට දැම්මා මිල වැඩියි උනත්. කියන්න කනගාටුයි මහ වන්චාව මෙයාලා කරන්නෙ.අලුතෙන් දාපු පාර්ට් එකක් මාස 6 ක් ගියාට පස්සෙ සර්විස් එකට දැම්මම කියනවා එක මාරු කරන්න ඕනලු.ඇත්තටම මාරු කරන්න දෙයක් තිබ්බෙ නැ.අපි වැඩිය හොයලා බලන්නෙ නැතුව ඉන්න කොට මුන් ඒකෙන් අයුතු ප්‍රයෝජන ගන්නවා.ඒ වගෙම රැක් එක අවුල් උනා කියලා බලන්න කිව්වම උන් කියනවා කිසි දෙයක් නැ .එ උනාට රැක් අවුල් .පස්සෙ පිටින් රෙපයාර් කලා.එ ගැන උන්ට කිව්වම උන් කියනවා රැක් රෙපයාර් කරන්නෙ නැලු. වාහන ගැන දැනුම අඩු කස්ටමර්ස්ලට මෙයාලා හරියට වන්චා කරනවා. දැන් මුන් ගාවට දාන්නෙ නැ. මුන්‍ට වඩා හොද තැන් තියෙනවා. ඔයාටත් මේවට මුන් ගෙවනවනෙ ඒක නිසා මේ වගෙ තැන් ගැන හොදට හොයලා බලලා විඩියො දාන්න නැත්නම් සල්ලි බලාගෙන විඩියො දාන කැටගරියට ඔයත් වැටෙනවා.

සහතික ඇත්ත ත්‍රිවිල් ලොටයක්වත් Raw material එකේ ඉදන් හදාගන්න බැ ඉන්දියාවෙන් චිනේ ගෙනත් ඇටේව්වට ඒ උනාට සමහර මකබාස්ලා Engine oil විතරක් නෙමෙයි Brake oil, Coolant වගේ දේවල් මාරු කරන්නේ නැ ඔහෙ දුවනවා අඩුව පුරවා පුරවා ඊට පස්සේ ලෙඩ අවම ඒවා common faults ගොඩට දානවා. ඊට පස්සේ ඒ වාහනේ මාකට් එක බස්සනවා. ලංකාවේ හයිබ්රිඩ් මාකට් එකට ඕක තමා උනේ වෙලාවට හරි තැනකින් ස්ර්ව්ස් ටික නොකිරීමේ විපාක.

Some garages and service stations have saked me to change the viscosity of the engine oil that is recomended by the manufacture as my car is"old" what is the truth behind this??
When getting old, we can go a step up, as engine may be worn. But it is in high mileage not just passing 100K.

Toyota Lanka is the only place to do proper Periodic, Major, and Preventive services for all Toyota vehicles including repairs. I've been servicing from them by for almost 12 years now. Staff and Supervisors are very friendly. Prices are a bit higher but they recommend the best for your vehicle to keep it top notch.
