That's interesting. I was told that deleting a Sim from the Family Bin would lead to corruption. Hearing that it's safe is a relief, because early on in my neighborhood I did delete som Sims that way.

1:29:12 this one happened to me when i accidentaly opened the game and body shop at the same time i think i also had a problem with a lot, the game kept crashing while i tried to open the lot so i Just buldozed the lot and moved the family do other lot (it was 5 college students)

Is there a way to make a mod that can temporarily assign social worker or burglar behavior, or other NPC like maid or firefighter behavior to playable Sims when their households aren't currently active? Like maybe Goopy GilsCarbo or PT 09 can deliver or remove children from a household? (Yeah, I know... PT 09 has retired from abducting and impregnating adult males, and now he's abducting children?) And will changing that interaction and template table make it so playable burglars don't set off alarms or trigger butlers to call the po-po? Or does making burglars playable stop that alarm trigger? And will changing the playable cowie mascot's template make the former mascot's personality stop switching to the cowie-standard? (100 outgoing, 0 active, 100 playful, 0 neat, 0 nice) And if there was a mod that could switch a Sim's template to normal, would it cause problems?

Well the first thing I did to Pleasantview when i first got the game as a child, was moving out the Goths and deleting them from the bin… because i wanted Don with Nina, and didn’t know how to break the engagement. Don and Nina are still my OTP ❤️ It didn’t break my game. But of course 10 years later in a new install moving in the Grim Reaper seemed like a good idea… 🤔

Hi April, thank you so much for the video!! I do have 2 questions that came up while watching, if you don't mind (sorry in case they're stupid or have already been answered): 1. Will changing the social bunny's original GUID to that of a person make the game generate a new social bunny NPC? So, more broadly, is it this GUID that the game uses to determine whether an NPC of a certain type "exists"? Edit to add: If that is the case, could I in theory have an active playable Sim fill the role of a certain NPC? Maybe not a notoriously glitchy one, but say a gardener or landlord. Could I give Don Lothario the original GUID of landlord and he will, when playing other households , actually show Up on apartment lots behaving as the NPC, without the Game spawning an actual landlord? 2. Related to this, could I safely turn a playable into an NPC using this exact method in reverse? I know how to make playables into townies and how to use the ingame NPC generator, but I've always wanted to be able to create a stupid looking poodle in CAS and make him my towns leader of the pack NPC with glowy eyes lol. Talking of corruption, can someone help me? I'm new to the sims 2, recently something weird happened with my riverblossom family, both the 2 elders at home and their 5 kids at university got their memories, relations, aspirations, jobs and skills erased and idk why, when i went to play with the collage kids their info page even said that they were unenployed instead of showing their college status, also, their aspiration meter was deep red, even the male elder that i has already reached permanent platinum After some research i found out that it may have happened because i accidentaly run the sims 2 and the sims 2 body shop at the same time, but idk why only my riverblossom family was affected, my belladonna cove family was just fine, so im guessing this is a case of neighbourhood corruption

I just had something funny happen to my game! One of the grand vampires showed up on the cuisine hobby lot. He bit the food judge and turned them into a vampire. According the SimPE this broke the judge and put her in the townie bin. Now I have a static judge occasionally appearing on my community lots in my neighbourhood lol!

If anything, Sims 2 gives me a peace of mind, whereas Sims 3 bloated save files rips my soul out and curb stomp it to pieces more time than fear-mongering Sims 2 corruption ever has. Just don’t ever tamper your Sims 2 man, you are on your own when you tamper with the game compared to how I almost relaxed with Sims 3, only to get sledge hammered to the face, the more I worry about saving that damn third game.

If anything, I experienced more corruption from Sims 3 than I ever did Sims 2, at it’s worst, Sims 2 bugs are far more annoying and more prevalent than Sims 2’s corruption, which corruption is far more pervasive in Sims 3 and it itself has tainted my Sims 3 bloated save files far too many times than I had to witness, the longer I play on a single save file for the third game. It’s crazy how many fear-mongering there is for Sims 2 corruption, when Sims 3 bloated save files and lags causes far more headaches and complications to the point of corruption than the peaceful play of my Sims 2 has ever done. And I play Sims 2 on a Steam Deck too, btw. Certainly less worse than how bloated Sims 3 was.

I love your videos so much, thank you for your extensive research and hard work! As a player and modder since a year after the game released (my PC wasn't good enough for the first year either!) these have been so interesting, I am sat and taking notes. I have massively over saturated my game with so many gameplay mods and fixes plus wayyy to much general CC over the years, and I am long overdue a total refresh (she do be crashing a lot, yikes). I will be keeping in mind your words of wisdom while I do this, and trusting in the vanilla game a lot more. I would love to know if you have ever put together a list of your personal mod picks/recomendations? And also what your opinions are on the 'super duper hug bug' as that is one that seems to have a lot of information out there that sometimes conflicts.

I love your videos! After watching this one for the second time, and having re-watched the deep dive, I still have a question. How screwed up was CallMeKevin's game? I know selling tombstones doesn't produce corruption, and I guess the Vidcund clones didn't do a huge amount of damage either (although I'd love to know why they started disappearing at a certain point!), but Kevin spawned some NPC on his residential lot, the most notable being Mrs. Crumplebottom. There was also a Bigfoot there, but this one, as far as I remember, was "Amar Bigfoot" and not "Bigfoot Bigfoot", what does that mean? 🤔 Also, he didn't make anyone but Bigfoot selectable, so how damaged was his save? 🤔

This is a fantastic video. Like you, I've been playing TS2 since the beginning, and am now a software engineer. But I've never really dug into the inner workings of the game beyond some fairly basic SimPE stuff. I'm only halfway through the video, and I've learned more about the technical side of Sims 2 in the past hour than I have in the past 20 years. Also: I actually know* the origin of BFBVFS, and it wasn't Pescado! He was referencing Strong Bad Email # 108 "pom pom", released about 2 months before TS2: "But I'm pretty sure I didn't get the everloving snot beat out of me and that Pom Pom exploded in a big fiery ball that was visible from space." *I mean, unless that sbemail was itself referencing something else, but if so it's not mentioned on the wiki

im confused, do sims that die still contribute to overpopulation? ive been able to keep up with all of this except for the population part. and are townies/npcs/etc part of it as well? just so i can keep an eye on my uberhood. also is it per neighborhood or total for game?

as your talking about the squiggly lines my sim looked out the window and gave the needs squiggly lines, kind of uncanny that happens just as im watching you talk about them an not being able to replicate them

okay this is off topic of this video but ive come to think your the master of game bugs and idk where to ask you about one ive been having: my sim will get fired on a chance card and will come home with no job as expected but ill click on another sim to control them then go back to the sim that got fired and the sim will have that job back at level one even if they got fired at level 1, is that and issue with one of my mods or is that a game bug? i do have ultimate collection if that helps. also i love your kitties

Your videos are great! Finally someone was able to explain the intricacies of the game files without all this "woooo if you sneeze at SimPE your neighborhood will corrupt in seven days" bs. Would you possibly talk a bit more about the want tree, its triggers and why some wants reappear all the time while others barely ever show up? I've been playing ts2 for 20 years by now and only recently saw the "encourage sim to be nicer" wish. Makes me wonder what else might be there and what causes it to appear (or stay hidden for decades)

I'm so glad that you've single-handedly debunked all the fear-mongering and other stuff MTS has pushed for so long. They ruined the game for a lot of people. Not a great community either. Lots of favoritism and horrible people in charge there. I'd really like to see a mod which modifies these NPCs so when they're not "on the job", they revert to the normal Sim template and, in turn, are fully playable.

Yeah, I call installing the Sims 2 "the 21-disc tango" (that's how many discs my specific setup of discs have, if you have DVD versions of the base game and first few expansions then you'll have like... 19 or so.)
