I'll go ahead and say it: I regret buying into Makita. Our company had used Milwaukee tools for years and they always came through but nope, I wanted to be different and went with Makita for my own tools so on job sites it would be more noticeable if someone was walking out with it in the sea of red and yellow and on my first LXT impact kit, I got a cheaper deal than Milwaukee 3-4 years ago. Then they came out with XGT and I thought it'd be perfect for home and lawn care and I bought the leaf blower kit (first one got stolen thanks to ACME and FedEx not properly notifying me but I digress) and that came with a bonus battery so I thought great! I'll just get one or two more kits as they come on sale and I can start with XGT but the sales never came. XGT lawn mower is still almost double the 36V; pole saws, string trimmers, etc. are easily double what Milwaukee's kits go for on sale. Best I could do was get the XGT Hammer Drill tool only but I need more batteries and a charger and other tools and have had to go with LXT. My family member got an entire Milwaukee lawn kit with string trimmer, pole saw, brush cleaner, 8 AH battery for $450. I had to get a "Greenworks" pole saw for 1/6 the price of of Makita so now I have yet another battery platform. I don't know what Makita is doing in the US market. They act like the privilege of buying their tools is ours. They aren't even remotely competitive now. Not to mention there is no local service for us anymore. I'm going to be in the market for a string trimmer and lawn mower next year and have been waiting for a circular saw for a while...if they don't get their act together I'll just accept loss and move back to Milwaukee.

I recieved my Zeeksaw and after one short usage the saw will not run again - battery fully charged - chain has been oiled - after removing chain and chain plate the motor will not run Who can I contact for support?

Cordless tools are like Tribbles. Makita was never my primary and I'd avoided another battery system (Already having Festool, Metabo, Dewalt, Senco etc and Stihl for garden). Makita make a really nice nibbler in LXT and that was the tipping point. That was ~4 years and 20+ Makita tools ago! XGT is worth the investment for higher power tools. I sometimes toy with the idea of dropping a brand to reduce battery proliferation but sadly every brand has something unique to offer. In fact we have Ryobi in the house for cordless scrubbers and there's the odd Milwaukee and Bosch floating about. I don't stress on corded or air tool brand proliferation as I'll just aim for the best for the job. I like Makita's new big XGT circular saws as they can run on my Festool plunge saw tracks (and Makita tracks are 100% compatible with Festool and a third of the price). The little LXT trimmers are brilliant and I'm now guilty of simply buying more of them to avoid swapping out router bits that are set up "just right". The 12" XGT SCMS is a beast. I also find myself a bit lazy when it comes to swapping angle grinder discs and the XGT 5" angle grinders are really nice so they too have multiplied in numbers. The XGT 1/2" collet cordless router is in my sights. The new Makita framing nailer hasn't made it to Oz yet and I don't like the "wind up" on my mechanical cordless Dewalt. I'm also curious about the Makita cordless compressor as the Dewalt one could wake the dead. I'm amazed nobody (that I know of) has made a cordless backpack compressor! Something I really like in back pack format are the Makita LXT sprayers. Technically the Milwaukee switch tank units are clever but the units end up being heavier so I chose Makita. I have one dedicated to poisons and one for nutrients to avoid accidental cross contamination. When my Dewalt inflator died I replaced it with a Makita XGT. It's much better built than the Dewalt but the ergonomics and usability of the Dewalt were superior .. just poor on quality like so many Dewalt tools (if it doesn't say XR don't buy it .. but that still isn't a certainly of quality) One Makita that I've developed love and hate feelings for is the 29 litre chiller (the mid size in their range). It's great on the property away from the main buildings to keep a few drinks, etc cold and more versatile than our 12V/mains portable fridges. So what's the down side? .. my better half often snags it to take shopping and instead of buying chilled and frozen goods and heading home she now pops them in the chiller and stays out shopping longer :(

Are the forward/reverse switches on the Metabo's loose enough that it will switch direction by accident? Has that ever happened to you? Maybe I can live with it, IF it won't change direction by itself or on accident.

Does the Metabo HPT drill have enough low RPM control for drilling small holes in metal? How sensitive is the trigger?

Dude thank you so much for this review! This is the only actual UNBOXING video I could find on this kit. Currently deciding between this for $130 (w/ $10 off coupon) at CPO Outlet, or the M18 drill/driver kit on sale at Home Depot for $99. I'm heavily leaning towards the Metabo for the added value of getting the impact at such a low price. Plus TWO 2.0Ah batteries. I also like the look and color, and wanna try something a bit more "unique". The M18 is a little better as a drill though in terms of performance. Not that the Metabo wouldn't have all the power I'd ever need anyway. I also like the look of the grip on the Metabo, seems like it has great ergonomics and would feel very good in the hand. Only thing I'm a little concerned about us the warranty. As in the actual SERVICE. Milwaukee may have better actual service, which would make the warranty process easier. But that's just speculation honestly.

Interesting perspective. Honestly I think you should do a follow-up on this. Yes I understand that there are downsides to electric, mainly runtime and battery longevity. But since he just got gas at the time of your video, he hasn't had to deal with all the maintenance that comes with that. Also, I can't really see any way that electric wouldn't be cheaper than gas, and with the 700W charger, it might be just as quick to put energy back into the battery as it is to make a trip to the gas station

I think the emphasis on how to get a great deal on a closeout or damaged ("hit with a forklift") box is irrelevant here and misleading regarding value-for-dollar. Your garage is so clinically clean though, and your tools so perfectly arranged (and you have the hands of a surgeon, not a mechanic), I wondered-"what the heck does this guy actually work on?" LOL Whatever, I do agree with you on the Crapsman (did I misspell that?). I've had mine for a decade and the joke is, the tools I need to repair it are stuck inside it and I can't get them out! Screw it, I'm going Matco. Snap-on quality at under 3/4 the price. For all their tools. Rolls-Royce has one of the most brilliant mottos of all time, penned in the 1930s: "The quality remains long after the price is forgotten." I rest my case.

Husqvarna Chainsaw Safety Helmet is pretty awesome for tree work. Great for anything on the ground, you could climb with one if you really wanted to, but a bit of a risk since it doesn't have a chin strap.

I went to the hardware store and bought a box of self tapping sheet metal screws and zipped that thing together fast ! And it fell apart and dented a customer's car , landed on my foot and broke it .

I primarily buy Makita not because I like spending money, but because it is usually they are far less fatiguing to use for hours on end. That obviously isn't true 100% of the time, but it is a significant percentage of the time. In a short use scenario that vibration might not matter, but I promise you it becomes a bigger deal when you are using a tool non stop.

Funny that Hikoki is sold as Metabo HTP in America. We have Metabo (non HTP) and Hikoki in Europe. They are completely different systems from the same owner.., The Hikoki/Metabo HTP is 165 euro in the Netherlands....

This same thing happened to me as well. Battery very rapidly degraded and won’t even make a full cut in my saw. It’s a 5.0 ah
