    Just finished watching this series.. wow... nice job. When I was a kid I built a 70 Chevelle model and painted it primer grey then clear coated it. This one looks just like it. I miss my past Chevelles and looking to get another one your videos are inspiring.

      I have a millermatic 211 welder with an auto set. I choose the thickness of the metal and the miller welder adjusts the wire feed and heat. in most cases I am set at 18 ga.

    What an excellent video. Just to be clear, you HAVE to remove both axles in order to get the carrier out? And you have to take the carrier out to be able to clean up and get a new gasket on...Was hoping it wasn't this involved. But it seems like there is no other option. I need to do my 69 Bronco.

    • @soolegarage
      @soolegarage Před 2 měsíci

      No videos but they actually have trunk paint in a rattle can that is designed to spatter for you. When you spray it the multi color spatter comes out on the material.

    3:10 when installing the upper control arms did you use the metal lock nuts? Is there another option here? Nylon perhaps? I’m fine with the single use nuts, but really don’t like breaking my bolts due to galling when trying to take off the upper control arms!

    Is using the saw to open up the gap where the crack is an absolute must for a proper weld repair ? I'm asking cause my 72 chevelle has a crack on the passenger side that is around the spring pocket and goes up the inside along the cross member.

    • @soolegarage
      @soolegarage Před 5 měsíci

      Not an absolute must you will just end up with a larger bead welding over the top of the crack opening it up, allows better penetration into the metal. Your choice really.

    Hi again. I have the same issue with a rusted out body mount that you repaired in this episode. It appears that a washer from a body mount will fit nicely when cut out and welded in. How did you enlarge the joke in the washer to the proper size- a hole saw? And how did you locate the washer in the exact spot centered in the rusty hole in the frame? I’ve been thinking of using a proper size hole saw and the pilot bit could be used to center the bug washer- then mark/trace around the washer onto the frame and cut with a die grinder. Weld in the washer then drill the hole to proper size with the hole saw. How did you do it? Thoughts? Thanks

    • @soolegarage
      @soolegarage Před 6 měsíci

      I have an Aircat pneumatic die grinder with a carbide bit I was able to cut the proper size hole after I welded the washer in place. I took a lot of measurements and made a cardboard pattern of the drivers side so I could get the body mount located correctly.
