When nixie tubes are very rare like chicken teeth. And when you do find they are expensive and in america and im in south africa! I have fallen in love with nixie clocks. But due to problems mentioned. Im also looking to do something similar as in video. Although a bit weard and crazy maybe. It would probably let people ask Why?.

But I have some questions more: you said the toaster has 2 heating elements, one top, one bottom. Are you able to turn off the top one? If not and is working, how come the barrel jack plastic is not melting away?

Youre getting some distance with that but question whats the psi from the pump when run ing at full power ? I have 2 2" transfer pumps that when ran in series get some nasty pressure but i dont have enough output as i want. There 195gpm max i want to run a 200 series big gun but i dont have enough with those

Absolutely brilliant idea, actually far more interesting than a conventional NIXIE clock

Jay & other amateurs. Do your homework before buying and using a pump like this. First off, I cringed when you shut off the nozzle with the pump running. You could have blown the pump seals. Put a PSI relief valve before the hose connection. Some of these pumps will not tolerate any debris except if VERY FINE. If it's a "semi-trash" pump the debris can be a bit larger maybe less than 1/2". If it's a trash pump you won't get near enough PSI. Debris clogs the vanes in the pump reducing its efficiency. Always research the pump curve. This shows you GPM @ Head. PSI is another function. PSI decreases as the flow GPM increases. In my case my pump is dual purpose. 30 sprinkler heads plus 1.5" fire hose. In case of a fire I can run my perimeter spklrs and 1 or 2 fire hoses. Hope this helps

no need for arduino to do that. Only with wires and resistors you can make a small hard wired decoder.

Question: I got those LED filaments here, where is the anode where the cathode part ? One end has a small hole in it, so it is definitely A/C but hardly to know which. Dont want to waste any filements, so any hint is great

Awesome project man, Ive been searching for an authentic looking nixie-style led clock for over a year now to no avail and this project is the closest ive seen, far better than the edge-illuminated laser engraved acrylic ones you see everywhere. I might actually have to give this a try myself! I think the floating digits looked very snazzy though, maybe I will give them a try and see how far I can get

It's a bad idea to run your pump for more than a few moments with no water moving through it. Excessive wear of internal parts will happen.
